Rec'd call on cell phone. Went to voice mail, no msg left. Likely scam. Another call recipient said his/her caller id showed Suny Maritime. A different call recipient from another site said this was a college in New York & the staff were trying to figure out what was happening. It appears these are scammers spoofing a real number issued to the college to try and elicit a call response. I am registered & have been for years on the Do Not Call Registry, but it seems ineffective as the number of scam calls I receive on all my phones has only increased.

This number called today, left no message. I am also on the Do Not Call registry, which doesn't seem to protect me from scam calls.

They claimed it was to lower my interest rate on a credit card. An obvious scam. I pressed "1" to be connected to an operator, and I was transferred to someone with an Indian accent, with a bad connection. I asked that they stop calling me (like this guy had any control over it), and he started challenging me, asking why I didn't want their calls.

Unbelievable.

The Do Not Call list is a joke. I already don't answer my home phone due to these [***] and if I have to give up my cell phone then I'm going to get a gun and start hunting telemarketers.

They called and the message about credit card debt began to play. I hit "0" and a salesman answered. I asked him if they had ever heard of the Do Not Call federal regestry and the t**d hung up on me. I think it's time to stop taking this abuse and sue the b*****ds.
