Have recieved 3 calls in last 3 days. I do not have nor have I ever had a Macey's card. I dont have any store cards just mastercard. The last call I recieved they did leave a message I stopped answering when I see the area code. It was someone with a Indian accent I was not able to understand much of what she said. I not going to call that number back but am going to call my local Macey's to make a report. I going to take the suggestion and set this number to silent. The first call from them was at 11:30pm centeral time.

I will guarantee for you that this number is not a scam, but a legit (granted horribly annoying) collection agency working for Macy's.  I was getting so many calls from this number on my cell phone, out of the blue, asking for someone by another name.  It got so bad that after a lot of web investigating, I managed to find a Macy's representative who said that YES, this is a Macy's outsourced number, and he would make sure that my cell phone number was removed from this person's account (I don't even have a Macy's account).  Sure enough, the calls stopped.

You have two options- call Macy's, demand to speak to collections/complaints dept. (not customer service), and have your number taken off their list.  OR, and I didn't need to go this far but found this out- you can contact the Federal Trade Commission who monitors the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act).  There are specific laws regarding what collections agencies can and cannot do, and repeated calls are illegal.

I know this is wordy, but hope it helps.  I was initially so stressed out by these calls- wasn't even sure if it was a scam or not, but rest assured that no matter what anyone says, this number IS a Macy's collection number.  If you have an account with them, check it through a Macy's main line and if you don't, call Macy's to have your number removed.

I get these calls at work from Macy's from a Suzanne Low, in the "Call this number" instead of a number.  It starts out saying, "this is an important call from Macy's about your account".

I work in a law firm.

It is annoying.

these calls are a scam - 16 Jul 2008
I have been getting calls from this number at least once a day (sometimes up to 6 times a day) from November of last year up until today, July 15, 2008. I have reported the number to the National Do Not Call Registry and the Federal Trade Commission. My number has been on the Do Not Call Registry for 3 years and I STILL receive these calls. The first 3 times I picked up and the person on the other end hung up. The hundreds of times after that the phone would ring about 3 rings and hang up on its own w/o ever leaving a voicemail. By searching on this site it looks like it's from either a Macy's, Bloomingdale's or some kind of collection company of which I shop at neither, nor have I ever had a credit card from. I have called Macy's and Bloomingdale's directly and they confirmed I do not or have ever had an account w/them or have any delinquent payments. I checked my credit report recently and it is in excellent condition w/no delinquencies. It is frustrating and annoying to be called so many times and not have a block caller option on my phone. There should be a class action lawsuit against whoever is behind this number.

I just called them on the phone, in fact I am in the phone with them right now and advised them this first to capture their attention "I see there are various complaints with the FCC about this telephone number.  I have no business with Macy's or any department store, please remove my number immediately."  The man on the other side (from India for sure) asked me to hold as he made a request to have my number removed.  I hope it works.  But for these guys, you gotta come in strong and such.  Don't even say you know who the person is that they are looking for because that won't be convincing.  I just got my number a month ago.  But the calls just started about 3 days ago.  At all hours.  RIDICULOUS.

Macy's - 5 Sep 2008
I received 3 phone calls from this number yesterday and only got a voicemail when I returned the call, after reading the posts below I decided to call Macy's when I was told by the operator that these calls were made automatically by an internal Macy's collection department once a credit card payment is late. Apparently, these calls are issued by the system, even if the bill is just a day late. If you pick up the call, you should be transferred to a human rep. to discuss payment options, etc. My suggestion is that you call the Macy's Credit Customer Service numeber at 1 866 593 2543. I did that and my issue (payment 3 days late) was actually resolved without trouble.

727-556-5772 I have about had it with these people! Meaning anyone who calls your house without permission, for bogus crap! I have never been to Macy's in person or online. Thanks to this, I will never shop at Macy's. These people called at 6:45 am and again at 8:00 am. You do not call people at this time of the morning. After checking my caller ID for the past week. Seems they have been calling 2 to 3 times a morning. I never answer a number I do not know. Now that I am aware of this BS calling. I just put my answering machine on with a nice sweet message. Talk to the answer machine. Your on silent ring now partner!

I've been getting calls from this phone number for months...they never leave a message or they hang up on me.   The few times that I got to speak w/ the caller, they always ask for a different name, like "Sam Schmidt"  finally got to speak with someone, who called herself "Simone Fletcher"....(She sounded Pakistani)  She was looking for someone by a different name then mine.  Name on the caller ID says MCCS

Keep getting calls 6-7 calls per day from this number. They just called me at 754pm while I was putting my son to sleep. It was some guy from India (I could hear the call center reps in the background). He asked for me and said I was late on my Macy's payment. I told him that was impossible since I get an email bill from Macys each month and always prepay online. He kept pushing me to give him a credit card number. I told him to immediately remove me from his call list and that I was going to call Macy's to complain. He hung up on me.

Try this, if they continue to call back after you have asked them to stop and to take your number off of their call list:

After they ask to speak to whomever, you confirm who you are speaking with (repeat name and company to them and say: Hi(say their name), today is (fill in the date) and the time is (fill in the time of day)and I need to let you know that this phone call is being recorded. I have asked your company to take my number off of your call list on (list dates of previous requests)and I am asking you this one last time to take my number (list number) off of your call list. My next call will be to the FCC to report your company. Do you have any questions?

This works for me everytime!! Be sure to keep detailed notes of your requests to be removed from their list and be sure to report it to the FCC. You can do it online at: https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx

I worked at FACS for about a year. FACS provides credit services for Federated dept stores including Macy's, Bloomingdales, Pier One and others. As you probably know FACS took over Robinson May. The transition didn't go very smoothly. A lot of frustrated customers.

We were based in the USA but some of the call centers were in India. Macy's credit policies included a lot of things I didn't really like. I'm sure many people have found out that Macy's and other companies can cut your credit limit based on outside credit even if your account with them is in good standing. Some of these things are done by a computer program that runs automatically. The thing that bothered me most was they felt no obligation to notify people. The person would go to charge something thinking they had plenty of available credit and the charge would be declined. They'd be instructed to call us from the store and we'd have to try to explain it to them.

Anyway, there was a collection area but I didn't work over there. They may have farmed out even more to India to cut costs. My observation about the Indian representatives is that while some of them will go out of their way to help, most of them pretty much stick to the procedures and once that's done they feel like the call is finished. They let you know it sometimes through a rather condescending tone or remarks.

However, there are good people there who will try to resolve your problem it's just not always easy to find one. I agree calling Macy's Credit Customer Service as detailed above is a good move.

Here's my two cents. If you're talking to a person and not getting anywhere don't get in an argument, ask for a supervisor. If they don't help you ask for their supervisor. Also, get their badge number and keep a record. All the calls have to be documented so when they pull up the notes they can see everyone who talked to you, what the call was about and the outcome. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I received a call from this number two days in a row. I recognised the area code as Florida and answered it. I got a recording something like "Please hold for next representative" and it went to music.  I hung up.
