Called my house, but I had it transferred to my cell. Once they got my music ringtone, they hung up. I'm sure they were trying to sell me something!

they are the Police Protective Fund...Not likely Non-profit.  They say they are raising money for your local killed in action police officers but there is a lot of other info out there on them which says that little goes to that....and a lot to the CEO and other company officers.  I asked what percentage went to the charity (usually they will fess up and tell you only 15% with the rest going to the fundraising company) and he said most goes to the officers.  BUT...they have been around a while and clearly they are using new phone numbers to call from...I suspect they are just getting more smart about how they run this "business".  Don't give.  Give locally to your police...not to this scam.

If we want to stop fraud we need to go a step farther and report to FBI.
The people are trying to acquire credit information by saying they are collecting donations. Those of us smart enough not to give information must report these calls. I am sure there are victims who trustingly gave information. Persons usually say they are collecting on behalf of the policemen but ask your local or state police before giving.

Get as much information from the caller as you can - record the conversation if you can, (most answering machines have this option). Go directly to the FBI site online and report.

POL PROT FUND comes up on the caller ID boxes. Did not answer the pests. Call came in at 6:12 pm eastern time zone on January 24, 2011

Told them I give locally only. They wanted my address or a one time donation aka card #. Do not give. Very likely scam.

I got the call too.  I did *69 to look up the number.  I googled it, and it shows it as belonging to Tu Ngo

The Only Way To Stop These Kinds Of Calls Is To Make Them Pay. Always Answer - They Have To Pay For Completed Call.  Keep Them Talking As Long As Possible With Fake Info So They Have To Pay More.

I answered the phone. At first no one said anything. I listened for a minute before hanging up. Someone said hello once. It sounds like a very busy place.  If you google the number it comes up with a name of a real person. They are probably using something to show other peoples numbers. I won't answer again.

Police proctection fund called  for fund raising for fallen police officers. Caller said money would stay in my state. Phone call originated in Florida. I live more tan 1500 miles away . This a scam!!!!!  What bothers me is that they knew my name.

Called at 8:38pm. Pol Prot Fund came up. I answered. They had the wrong name and I told them it was too late for a solicitation call and hung up.

Non-stop calling. Two calls just today. Asked the first person to remove my number from list. They hung up on me. I called back the number and left a message to remove my number. Second call came. I told them to remove the number again. They guy basically had a fight with me on the phone. He would not shut up long enough for me to tell him that my father was DEAD and he could not reach him at this number and that the continuious unwanted calls were harrasment. This group professes to be a "charity" associated with the police. This number should be REPORTED to the police for community continued community harassement.

I received a phone call from this 727-863-5033 number this afternoon and the man did not give his name only stating that he was with the police protective fund. I HAVE given to them the last few years however when asked to give crecit card info over the phone, I have always asked to be sent an invoice for my donation. I have always paid it that way. Well today this person asked for me to pay via cc and I told him, no I never do it that way and to send me the thing via mail. This man then proceeeded to tell me that "You paid it by cc last time".  I said "No I have NEVER  paid it online". I then followed up with "How do I know that you are who you say you are?"  His response was " You could see it on your caller ID". I told him "No it only came up as a 727 number. He started to get upset  because I did not want to do it his way. I then said, You know what, just forget it. Do NOT call my house again".  How in the HADES does this man think he is going to get money by being rude to me?  They definitely sound like a scam.

I reproted this caller to the FTC for calling.  The claler also called me and refered to me as Miss Shumate when I am married and my name is Mrs. Shiumate, my maiden name was Bowling.  I corrected the caller.  However, this is not the first scammer who has refrred to me as Miss Shumate.  There is another Carol Shumate who lives in Prince Willaiam couanty who is supposedly a widow with two grown sons, who sons were caught trafficking coaiane in Belize in 2007.  Alos, she was recently arrested for being drunk in pulbic and fro tresspassing with the intent to cmmit property damange in February of this year, and her two sons acrued other minor arrest changes in the same month.  So, I guess to differntiate us, I am not refrred to MISS while she is Mrs.  However, I just wish that someone would put the other Mrs. Shumate in jail-- but, one cannot have everything.  However, regardless of what the situation may be, I am sitll scammed and referred to as MISS Shumate.  I told the caller for the Police Protective Fund that I knew the call was a scam and not to ever call me again.  In addation this scurrilous person awakend my husband who has to get up in the  wee hours of the morning in order to go to work.  I wish that theses inconsiderate scammers would stop calling.  I really hate their guts.  Also , I am more than willing to prosecute them for whatever that is worth.

This number has been calling but when I answer, there is no one speaking. They have called in the past and when I was asked to give my cc info on the phone for my annual contribution, I told them that I have always sent it in the mail. The caller got huffy and argues with me that I had done it over the phone last year. I know that is NOT the case because I never give anyone my number over the phone unless I call them. This man got ugly with me and my response was "You are calling me for a charity donation and you are getting nasty with me?" I then hung up on him. THIS IS A SCAM people. Do not give to this number.   I am on the do not call list so not sure how they are getting away with this.

I left this for the answering machine; they did not leave a message but I could hear activity in the background. Caller ID said "POL PROT FUND" (yeah, right....)

They called me tonight. I picked up on the second ring and heard somebody say (not to me but somebody else, apparently) "are you fxxxxxing kidding me?"  That's why I googled them.  To no positive effect, obviously....
