- TerriS| 2 repliesIt is Asset Acceptance Corporation, a debt collector. I can tell you from past experience and what I have read on the Internet that these guys are the bottom-feeder debt collectors. DO NOT talk to them, just ignore the calls. What they do is buy old debts, let's say the debt was 10 years old, they try to collect on it & they put the date of the debt as being recent. In otherwords, the debt is supposed to be OFF your credit report but because these guys lie about the original date of the debt they keep trying to collect. I'm serious, don't try to work anything out with these guys or you'll be REALLY sorry.

- Over ItDebt collectors....calling about debts almost 20 years old that are no longer valid. Do not send them money, do not talk to them.
- YggdrasilThis is why a nice can of freon attached to a boat horn comes in handy. It is VERY effective and, hopefully, causes permanent hearing loss to the person on the other end of the harassing phone call.
- EricThe company is Asset Acceptance, a collection company!
- Annoyed by Stupidity| 1 replyAsset Acceptance, eh? Well, for their troubles of calling my unlisted number daily, not answering when I pick up, and hanging up on me, and the fact that I have no past debts or current ones, they can be just as annoyed. Here's some useful info for the creative types out there:

- akfromtexasthese people called my house this morning at 11:22am but did not leave a message (I never answer this line anymore because only annoying people call it). I called them back on this long distance number, talked to a person who identified herself as Eva Burns then asked 'what is your name sir?'. I replied, "I'm going to give you my phone number, I'm not a man, area code xxx-xxx-xxxx, take this number out of your database'. She said, "okay, I will take it out". We'll see......

- rabThe lady said she was trying to collect a past due car loan and needed to talk to "Jamie". I told her she had the wrong number. I've had my phone number for 3 years and I'm not Jamie so it makes me wonder what this company is about. I didn't think they were supposed to disclose info like that. I'm glad I looked this up.
- Carina| 4 repliesI admit I do have some debt and its not old it is still on my credit report and all. Should I still try to work things out with them or with the actual bank that I owe?
- Bobthis number has bin calling my house every day now for a week, I dont answer numbers on my caller id that I dont know, they dont leave A message so I will not call them back.

- TTBRECwhat a bunch of morons!! they called my wife trying to collect a $300 CREDIT CARD debt from 1987 (she was 17)
- Call type: Debt collector
- muggie34The caller ID says AACC. I MAINLY have home phone service in order to get internet service. I keep the ringer turned to lowest. I NEVER answer the phone unless it is someone I know or want to talk to , like family, friends, etc... I don't have voice mail or and answering machine on my home phone so all any annoying callers get is a constant ring and never an answer. My phone has a Mute Ringer feature so I don't have to listen to the phone ringing until they hang up. They do EVENTUALLY give up. Some take longer than others, but they do give up. I have registered ALL unwelcome repeat callers on
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx
This helps, but there is the occasional caller who ignores.
I use my cell phone anyway and I NEVER give the number to ANYONE except family and friends ONLY.- Caller: AACC
- to Carina replies to CarinaThey are a junk debt buyer, sent them a cease and desist/debt validation letter. Run a google search for several different types of letter examples you can use. DO NOT TALK TO THEM, but take pix of when they call on your caller id, you might need these later.
- annoyed and not going to take their crapasset acceptance, buys zombie debt as a 3rd party junk debt collector. Many debts past statute of limitations. Get educated on your rights! Send them a debt validation letter, make them prove they have a legal right to call you and if they call after you tell them to stop, report them to the FTC for violations of the Fair Debt Practices Collection Act, AND file a complaint with the state attorney generals office in your state, as well as your state collection agency licensing board. They MUST prove they own the debt before they can collect it! DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE BOOGEY MAN!
You can learn how the law protects you from these deadbeats here:
www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf
You can file an FTC complaint here:
https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
You can find out if your debt is beyond the statute of limitations here:
http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/SOL-by-State.html
Here is an example of how to write a debt validation letter, and what should be in one. BE SURE TO SEND IT CERTIFIED MAIL RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED SO YOU CAN PROVE THEY GOT IT:
http://www.creditinfocenter.com/rebuild/debt_validation.shtml
Check your credit report, if they are on there with an inquiry they have violated the PINTOS decision, REPORT THEM TO THE FTC!
You can obtain one free credit report per year.
Finally, if they sue you you can find an attorney specializing in these scumbags here:

- Caller: Asset Acceptance
- Rob replies to TerriSIt is VERY important not to talk to them. They record everything and will try to re-initiate your debt and start reporting again to your credit bureau as new unpaid debt. Do not make a single payment or divulge who you are. They are extremely crooked criminal-types!
- brickland| 1 replyCalling for someone I don't know. I told him they had the wrong number. They called that afternoon. Told him the same thing. Called the next morning. I asked in my best fake Italian accent if anyone spoke english and the guy said yes I speak english. I said, good. You have the wrong f_____g number, jerk. Ahhh. the experience of dealing with morons. I just entered the number on my block list and haven't heard from them all day. I suggest to everyone to get a phone with a block. It's the greatest thing I ever bought. It holds 100 numbers and is great to have.
