Lie 1: "This is not a sales call."  Robo call says I've been referred by a friend to get a free home security system.  Yea sure.  I think this is the scam where the security system is free, but they charge a ton of $ to monitor the system.  In any case, I'm blocking these dirt bags.

Just got a call from this number on my cell phone. When I answered, a recording came on that said "Hello. This is not a sales call. Your friend referred you for a free home security system" and it went on a spiel about this stupid "free" home security system. Whoever this is calls my cell phone at least once a day from a different number. They just don't give up.

Got a call on my cell phone with this number as caller ID.  I've received a few calls recently from strange numbers, and usually ignore them, but I picked up this time. When I answered it was a robot woman's voice that said "Hello this isn't a sales call. Your friend referred you to us for a free home security monitoring system. You must be a homeowner to take advantage of this offer. To get started with your free home security system, press1" and then I hung up. If I did need a security system, I wouldn't get one through whatever company this is. Sounds like a scam. I'm curious to see if anyone out there actually went through with the offer and how it worked out

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says the robocalls do not appear to be coming from a legitimate alarm company and are likely fraudulent. The agency advises anyone who receives such a call to hang up.

The callers tell people they can receive a free security system simply for having a sign planted in your front yard. Callers are asked to hit a key to proceed, but state officials warn that doing so will let the caller know the number is active and may lead to even more spam calls.

I don't usually answer unknown callers. I wait for them to leave a voicemail. If they don't their call doesn't count; their call doesn't need to be answered in the first place.

Just called me. I didn't answer. After seeing the previous comments, I'm glad I didnt!!!

I reported this number. Please make sure you do, too. Then, let Big Brother take care of it....

received a call and sent it to VM - they didn't leave a msg, glad I checked here first...  Added to my auto-rejected list!!!

I never answer these numbers that I don't know, today at 4:36pm EST, but I appreciate being able to Google it and people taking the time to report here so I can know I made the right call.

Sounds like a scam to me, as I'm not even interested in such a system right now, nor have I expressed any interest to any "friends".

I just received a call from this number.  I don't answer calls that are not listed in my contacts.  If it's important, they'll leave a voicemail.  I used to return the call, but now that there are services like this, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one getting these obnoxious calls, and the information shared, saves a lot of grief for someone that might get duped.

Got a call from this number on my cell but didn't answer since I didn't recognize it. They didn't leave a message so I looked them up and have now blocked them. Too bad. I was watching pranks of these types of calls on YouTube and they could have been fun to play with but nah.

Sec alarm company...again.  Always the same recorded bit

I've been getting calls from this number once every couple of weeks for about a year. It's a recorded call saying that "a friend referred you for a free home security system." There's nothing to do, and no way to choose to be "taken off the list" or anything at the end of the call (or at least, there never has been when they called me).
