Well what can I tell you? These guys (portfolio recovery) are genuine bottom feeders of debt collection industry. They buy old statute expired debt and through harassment tactics try to collect 10 to 30 cents on the dollar. Of course the minute anything is collected, the statute date resets to day 1 and their other outfits and ambulance chasers come after you. If you have noticed their letter of settlement is only for the debt with them, not original debtor or the next place they sell it to. The only way to fight these guys is to get with your state authorities. These guys know all the Federal loopholes.

We have recently filed Chapter 7  and these people are still calling.  Isn't that illegal????

I think once it's filed with the courts is when it becomes illegal and harassment! Speak to your lawyer to be sure of the laws in your state.

They call my mobile which I don't know how they got..  I have no idea why they are calling.  They never leave a message and so they will never get a call back.  If you are afraid to leave a message stating your purpose then what you are doing is probably underhanded and illegal.

They call all hours of the day and have even contacted my work. I specifically told them not to call my office yet they still continue. I have no idea what they want as they never ever leave a message.

Yet another phone number from Portfolio Recovery. so far I have blocked 17 numbers from these scum bags of the debt collection industry. No problem, I'll keep blocking your numbers. You know, if you would leave a message I might even return your call.............IDIOTS!!!!

When you call back, they ask who they are talking to.  I tell them 'You called me, WHO did you want?" When they refuse to tell me who they are calling for, i tell them to stop calling as they have the wrong number.  I did read somewhere that under the fair credit colltions act that they can be sued in small claims court for 1000 per instance for every call they make after they have been told to cease and desist. Not sure how this would have to be documented, but possibly by looking up their address and sending a certified letter, and then make sure to keep detailed logs of every call after that time?

Got a call from them! They seem to not enjoy being preached to about the good word of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, maybe next time they'll get Scarlett's number correct? Until then though! I will enjoy this!

they called me,how they got my number I'm not sure It's not listed with anybody,I haven't had credit for over 10 years.

Keeps calling for a "Jaynel". I told them you've called for this person on my phone from 14 different numbers so listen for the last time. STOP CALLING MY NUMBER FOOLS!!! THERE IS NO JAYNEL HERE!!!!

these idiots continue to call me once a month on a unlisted cell phone number, insisting I pay for a credit card billing from 10 years ago that is not mine, All they have to say is we sent you requests to pay and you did not respond, you have left us no choice, I asked where they have sent info to, and actually contacted the persons at that address, who was at first pissed off at me for bothering them, then they realized what was going on, and told me after returning their unopened envelopes in excess of 20 times, saying wrong address, they just started to throw them away They ten ask for my current address, which I refuse to give them of course, and tell them, that when the billing they are inquiring about, was when I was unemployed, disabled, and had no income, so how could I get a credit card at that time? Consistent pain in the [***] idiots

What pointless Idiots. They leave no message,calls show from different parts of the country. Illegal clowns will threaten you with everything imaginable. I can't believe anyone falls for it.
