the called left her name as Ms Sawyer and said they had received papers in their office that I didnt know about and that I must call  them back today at 877-394-0392. No other information was given.

Got a voicemail from Tracy Bermin(msp) at CRA said she had some information that she just received at her desk (then proceeded to list some random number, didn't say what it meant or was for) and that I might not even be aware of. Left 877-397-0392 as the call back number. Previous poster listed them as Consumer Recovery Service. Googled them and they are an asset recovery service. Makes sense, I was listed as a 'reference' on someone elses minivan purchase, which I know this person is in default however, I don't think they've recovered the vehicle (hence the VM to me)

This lady calls MY cell phone asking for my wife.  Thats the first flag, then she says a random name and offers to give me an 800number for me to call.  I tell her I have her number on caller id and my wife can call her back.  I ask what is in regard to and lady says in regard to papers that recieved at their office.  Her overall vague answers to my questions just told me she was full of you know what.  She hung up after the second time of me asking what office is she referring to.  TOTAL SCAM do not give these people any info.  If they are for real they will give you there company info so you can at least check them out before calling them back, real companies have nothing to hide.

This is a bill collector they have been calling for someone at my number for over a year. I finally just blocked the number.

Same as others she said this is Tracy and she had some papers in her office well Tracy join the club i have papers in my office also dont bother with them they are just bottom feeders

It is a Collection Agency "Consumer Recovery Services".

Some woman named, Sherry, just called and left a message for me to call her on some 1-800 number regarding a reference number she gave me.  I owe no money to any collectors.

I got a call from 757-76-7190 asking for someone not at my home. when I asked who they were they would not say. I called the number back from another phone and found out they were CRS... I asked the man I was talking to what company they were and he would not say. Strange, so I googled the number and landed here. Creepy when they wont tell you who thay are.

Just got a call from a woman who said she was calling from Consumers recovery service.
I said yes to her question of is your name..... she then proceeded to ask me for private information because she had a very very personal item to discuss about some paperwork that she had come to her office.  I said okay...
she asked my social and I said "I'm sorry what is this about? and I said I didn't know who she was could she give me some information about what she was calling about.  She got very angry...raised her voice and took an aggressive threatening tone babbling like a crazy woman who had been in a war zone at me.  I asked her to please calm down (thinking to myself what is wrong with this woman) I said I would have to know the company she is referring to
She angrily informed me that I was to give her the information now and then started to yell and say if you ever had a po box with ____ number you will answer my questions.
I asked her to please calm down and lower her voice because it was difficult to think and follow what she was on about.  She would not stop so I said I don't know who you are - send mail to me because I am in a public directory and have nothing to hide from and HUNG UP.
This woman was strangely wicked.  She was on some war path and I have never even talked with her prior to this nor anyone else such as this....she was very demanding and defensive.  Completely unprofessional conversation for our first greeting if she is representing some company who has sent her "VERY PRIVATE AND PERSONAL PAPERS TO DISCUSS WITH ME"  Personally, seems like bad business. Not to mention a bit unusual.  Note: I have no outstanding business relations or collectors, or people I owe money to.  This leaves me to believe it must be some type of fraud.  She wouldn't even tell me what her company did...strange???

I got a call from (757) 716-7190 at about 10:56 on my cell, don't know how they got it.  Called back their (877) 394-0396 number they left on the vm.

A guy calling himself Mr. Gridlock took my call and began talking about a card that I may or may not have had from a decade ago.  I asked him to send me a letter at my home address, as I needed to research their claim and whether a statue of limitations had run, if indeed the account had been mine.  He then got rude and started raising his voice claiming it wasn't a statute of limitations issue and that they were going to 1099 for the amount.  I then told him to mail me a letter stating that if indeed it was his company's intention to do so.  He then said he might or might not, that they didn't have to.  I then asked for his company's mailing address and he got even more rude and obnoxious telling me to look it up.  At least I got in a "do***ebag" in there before hanging up on him.

Definite bottom feeders.  By the way, these people can choose not to use their real names, so you never know who you're actually talking to.

I got a phone call from a girl just after 8am, saying she has paperwork and asking if I am ___  ___ with the last four of my social being XXXX.  My response was "Uh, ok...." like confused.  She put me on hold and came back on with her boss,  Mr. Shapiro claiming he is "attempting to collect a debt" from 2004.  He restated my social security number, asked me about all of my previous addresses, which he already had, and told me that he can give me any information about the place that I supposedly owed including my old bank account information, address of the store, and listed off the place where the debt supposedly came from....First of all, how does he have ALL of my previous addresses?  He shouldn't be looking at my credit information even if they are debt collectors, they do not need to look at my credit file, just the file they have bought.  Next flag would be that when I asked to mail a money order they said they do not do that, that it must be an ACH transaction.  Next big flag was that, they are calling my cell phone number...how did they even get that?  And to top it off, a week or two ago my husband got a similar phone call from a different number, saying they were a different company trying to collect on an old payday loan from the exact same company that this place claimed to be trying to collect for.  I called the FTC and filed a claim after seeing many of these posts.  The post included below is one that I found particularly helpful and I am going to add the information I have to this list below.
