These guys (Portfolio Recovery) are genuine bottom feeders of debt collection industry. They buy old statute expired debt and through harassment tactics try to collect 10 to 30 cents on the dollar. Of course the minute anything is collected, the statute date resets to day 1 and their other outfits and ambulance chasers come after you. If you have noticed their letter of settlement is only for the debt with them, not original debtor or the next place they sell it to. The only way to fight these guys is to get with your state authorities. These guys know all the Federal loopholes.

They calle me and left no message.  I do not answer calls that I don't recognize.

They told me I owed a debt to paypal for $172 when I actually have a credit with paypal. Paypal confirmed this and said I had not been turned over to a debt collector. They knew my ss# , address and birthdate.

Said it was a medical collection debt! I thought it is illegal to disclose information in regards to medical? Said they would take legal action! It's also illegal to threaten legal action and NOT take actual legal recourse! They've done this twice now!

Portfolio Services: I've been logging these Scum for months, they use a lot of different numbers from different states but also repeat some of the same ones so you can sort of tell who they are when calling.  I owe nobody anything, I have never had any unpaid debts, Ever!.  According to some consumer shows (Clark Howard for one), these vile folks are just phishing for Suckers.  I never answer out of state phone numbers and one should never contact these Scum.  Notice that they NEVER send any US Mail statements.  If you agree by phone to the debt, it's yours!  Even if you don't owe it.

DoNotCall won't help because this is considered a "debt", even tho I owe No Debt.  So after months of calls (some I have blocked successfully) they made me mad so I called them back for the 1st and last time, hopefully my caller ID was Restricted.  ..The woman asked my number and I did not give it to her, I then told her that I was screwing her Mother in the ass when she called me.  She was still talking when I hung up.  I pray that these folks (Portfolio Services) and their family's develop Cancer and die as a result of this terminal illness.

They were sued for unpractical tactics..million dollars!!!

Stop calling

I answered a call from them about a year ago. They said I had a debt of over 3,000.00 for credit cards. I told them this was not my debt and requested that they send me something that would prove I owed them. They sent a blank form and told me to send a copy of my state ID with a picture and signature.
Wait a minute if I owe you money you should have that information. It looks like they were asking me for ID so they could say " yeah you are the one that owes us money!" What the.... Hey look everybody my head screws on.

Call trying to collect $1400 on a credit card I barely used and cancelled over 10 years ago

these people keep calling and I do not know how they got my number, since I have a home phone number separate.  I hate this for I don't want anyone calling morning, noon and night !!!!

Called asking for me, told them I had no information and to quit harrassing me. I have no debt with them and yet they continue to all

They called after I got a new phone and when I asked who was speaking, he gave his name and when I asked why, he said it was a business matter. I quickly hung up the phone.

This number  calls my cell phone, but never leaves a message. I am left wondering who it is and what they want. If it were an accidental, whoops, wrong number, that would be different. If you call repeatedly, then you should have something of importance to say; but you obviously do not!  STOP CALLING ME and others!  This is harassment!

First, I'd like to thank this website & all who have reported info about this number. I don't answer numbers that I don't recognise & figure if it was important, they'd surely leave a msg. So w/o al your info, I'd still be left wondering who these people are that continue to call me over & over.
