Called stating I would be held liable for a friends misappropriation of funds as I was listed as a reference. I let him know real quick that I have never in my life co-signed for anything for anyone and I cannot be held liable for someone elses debt. I was told I would be summoned to court next week. I called my friend who is being harassed by these people. He has no idea who they are and owes them no $$.

Same things just happened to me about 5 minues ago.  Indian man (said his name was Charlie Brown and then Henry Thomas) told me my friend listed me as a reference and that I would need to got o court tomorrow in CA or I owe him $200.00!  [***] these people!

I received the same kind of call today and this was the number they told me to call back. They said I was listed as a reference and now some serious allegations and legal charges have been filed against my friend and I am listed on the case affidavit as well. He warned the case will be filed tomorrow afternoon in the court of California. Neither of us live in California nor have any reason to have any kind of case against us. If anyone finds out who these scammers are please post. Thanks.

Also, when he was telling me where he was calling from the phone conveniently cut out (he left a voice mail so it was his phone).

i received  the same kind of call just a few minutes ago reguarding a friend  said i was listed as a reference was very rude said i would have to go to court with friend or she could pay 500.00  i told him off and to;d him never to call my number again. also we do not live in california. they say they work for marshall and fieldman att. it a scam so becareful everyone

got the same call demanding that pay 2000 in callifornia court. he  is no more charlie brown as i am lucy.

Dont know about you guys but I too a loan and received call from these guys after almost 2 years and I too reacted teh same way like you and today I received a "SAPINA" by my name from the court house..

Received the same type of call today.  I also agree with werdna- the above post sounds like a scammer trying to make us think this is legit.

Note to 'Andrew': It's more believable when you can actually spell 'SUBPOENA' and type a legible sentence. I seriously doubt anyone here was fooled by your comment.

I just received the same scam.  Some Indian guy called my number and had my SSN which is a problem.  He stated he had a legal case against my SSN.  I Google the name and found this scam info about the company what would you recomend?

I received a call from Steven Marshall, an Indian man with a thick accent, from the Law Office of Marshall and Criminal Attorney in California. He called my work stating that I would be held in prison, so I can testify in a trial against my relative who owes them money as I was listed as a reference.  His contact number is (760) 364-0537. He was extremely annoyed with me because I continued to interrogate him about his company's name, his full name, contact number, and the reason for his call. Obviously, this guy is part of a scam to convince people to give them money.  However, I wasn't born yesterday, and I'm not that ignorant to believe this [***].

This is a scam you should call the police dept. The more people that call the more the police will do something to catch them. This is a private # and working for the Police Dept. I know that the police can get thru on private no.s. The Police Dept's # is 760-3238116, Palm Springs Cal. This # is in Landers Cal.

I received two calls today from his person one at 6:00 am and one at 7:00 am, stating the same thing.  I guess they start to call early morning and don't know about time zones.

Keep getting messages at least 10 times a day from some guy saying someone used my name as a personal reference and they defaulted on their loan and I'm now responsible. Told him i did not sign anything saying I'm liable. Who can we contact other than changing your phone # to report this.

I ended up calling the Fedreal Trade commision to report this crap. They contacted a friend of mine 3000 miles away to choose a a contact give me a fraudlent court case to beat it all. I personally looked up addresses phone numbers and all to get the truth behind it. And well truth is they could not do anything to me but beg for my credit info. I refuse to let some stupid lazy person to live off my hard earned money especially when they prove to be as stupid as this. So i told them i reported them and they still persisted to get money. It is my legal right to obtain the proof of my debt. This they could not give. So please call the FTW and report this. Loranee Edwards is also a false name.

I keep getting the same calls from an Indian man and then a lady stating that I am being summonds to CA for court for a friend who did not pay a loan that she listed me as a reference. Then they tell me that I am responsible for her loan since she wont call them back. I told them to go f**k themselves and to stop calling me. When I asked about what happens if we can not travel to California for the hearing I was told that I was going to be jailed and I would have to pay 10% of the balance of the loan. These people need to get a life and stop calling me and harrassing me.

I get at least 3 calls per week stating I owe money in NY and they state my SSN (which scares me to death) and tell me I need to contact them at some law firm or I will be prosecuted. This is some BS!!
