Someone called me and said 760-392-3952 was the number to reach them.  They said they were from a help desk from windows.  They said they were located in springfield, California.  They said my computer had been hacked and they were there to help me.  They wanted me to go to my computer and run programs to "fix" the problem.  He said his name was Max Cooper but he had a very heavy Indian accent.

My aunt had the same thing happen to her

Twice in the past two weeks (despite my being on the Federal Do Not Call list), I have received a phone call from a "John Williams" from the "Computer Support Help Desk" supposedly calling about my computer.

He did not ask for any person by name, and (as it happens) I do not personally have a computer. The first time he called, I told him this, so I could not get his number for it to be investigated. Today, I simply told him I couldn't talk right now and asked for his number to call him back at, and he gave me the 760-392-3952 number I listed above.

The only reason I can imagine someone making unsolicited calls claiming to be from a computer support help desk would be to engage in phishing or identity theft.

scam they will hack into your computer if you do as they ask.  Beware wish the man from pakistan lived closer so I could smack his smart azz mouth.

This is the website linked with the #.  It looks legit, but I didn't give him access to my computer, either.  I did figure out how to delete the info. he suggested, so hopefully it will speed up my computer.

We received a call from "Customer Support" with Inex Support.  Jessica said we had a problem with our computer and if I would get in front of my computer she would walk me through a "fix" for the problem. I haven't HAD any problems but she just talked right through this information.
We did not "get in front of our computer" but asked for a number to call back, as were suspicious that this was someone trying to gain access to our computer.

We received a call from Sam at 7603923952 on Saturday, August 24.  He said there was something wrong with our computer and he could walk us through the "fix".  I do not use the computer much and my wife was away-I told him to call back when she was here.  We have the best anti-virus program available and our computer runs faultlessly.  We do not need a "fix".  He said he was from Comcast technical dept.  I have never had Comcast call us about a "fix" for our computer in 20 years.  Beware!

I had three calls in two nights. The first call was from a foreign speaking woman whom I could not understand. I said to her "do you realize it is 9pm? How dare you call me this late at night." I then hung up. The next night a lady called again . I said "I can't understand you". She was talking about my computer.I hung up again. I immediately got another call from a man who sounded angry. He asked if I had Windows & I said yes. He started in about viruses & all my files being infected & so on. I told him my daughter handled all of my computer business. He forcefully said "put her on the phone". I said she did not live with me. He wanted her phone number & I said "no you give me your name & phone number & I will talk to her." He said he was in California,his name was John Smith, his phone number was 7603923952.He said he was senior technical engineer. I did not get the name of the company. He seemed to get angrier & more impatient as the phone call proceeded. I called my daughter & she looked up the phone number & said it was a scam.

My grandmother called me, concerned about her computer because these people had called her and told her that she had some sort of virus on her computer.  They claimed that it was being attached to her emails, and that's how they were able to track her down, and that they were from Microsoft.  I think the name of the person she was supposed to call back was John Miller or something like that.  She knows I work with computers so she told them that she'd just have me check it, and didn't give them anymore info.

I looked up the number and found the website associated with it, which is quite obviously a very bogus website, not "legit" like a previous commenter said.  There's random text at the bottom, like Tweets that say "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet", and a copyright with All Rights Reserved for "websitename."  They also say that they use something called "PC Decrapifier."  Yep, sounds legit.

This is a known scam run out of India. You will never be able to get ahold of them again. Call your credit card company and dispute the charge. If you don't believe me, go to Google and search "remote support scam"

We get the fake "computer virus" scam in the UK as well.  We also get lying posts like your trying to pretend that these scammers are legit.  Microsoft will tell you that anyone who 'phones pretending that they can see errors on our computers, or that our computers are sending messages to them are scamming thieves.
