This number woke me up. Who are these people and why do they call so early?

Called at 4:15am ET..3/24/09.  Did not say anything.  ID said CALIFORNIA CALL...rings busy when try to call back.

This called me at 1AM and woke me up.  Reverse lookups didn't find the number.  No message left.   California area code.

called at 2:32am - phone says  Borrego spri CA
It was just a bunch of clicks and when I called them back it rang and rang

They called us at 1:45 AM EST.  We did appreciate being called in the middle of the night.

Ditto to all of the above.  Late night call, no voice, then hang up.

i just received the same call about 15 minutes.   Caller ID stated: Borrego Springs, Ca...which is in San Diego County.

called no voice response no nothing!

Called at 1:10 am No voice only pushed buttons through prompt to get to VM and left none

This number just left a five minute blank message on the voice mail of a Nevada charity.  No one said anything, and it used up our entire recording time.

I too was called by this # at 0614AM on 03/25/2009. Didn't make it in time to answer and they left no VM. Woke me up...oh well had to get up to answer the phone anyway...LOL

i got svrs  called me 1 780-748-0167. who [***] called me videophone number? no idea clue no answer. 10 58 pm called svrs.

Recently signed up for online dating. Gave # to two people in CA. One in Northern and One in Southern CA. Thought it was southern CA guy. It wasn't. Then I thought could be Northern guys crazy ex-girlfriend. When I called it back it just sat there. No ring. I live on east coast. 3/24/09 @ 12:01 pm

recd a call about 7:50 am eastern time... automated voice asked me to press "one" to accept the call... no identification of who was calling,  so of course, did not do that.  I pressed "4" for more options, and it just repeated "press 1 to accept this call" .... nothing more.  So I waited and then the call just disconnected.

Same thing here - received a "wake up" call at 6am central time. Usually when I get these types of calls (and they're always busy on call back), it's a high-volume spam-fax machine. A few times I have tracked down the parent company and torn them a new one and got my number removed...

One ring.. nobody there.. just dead air.

Called a Midwest business office, 3:03 central time. Said hello twice, no answer. Hung up.

Sounds to me like the computer doing the dialing is probably tracking which numbers are "good" numbers by who answers their phone. From there, they're probably selling the good numbers to telemarketing companies, with the promise that these are lists of people who actually answer their phone, without knowing who is calling.
