- L Utrie| 4 replies"Hi, this message is intended to contact you. My name is Dennis (Gray?) & I'm calling regarding an enforcement action executed by the U.S. Treasury intending to receive attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense.
My number is 1-772-408-4731. I repeat 1-772-408-4731. I'd like you to cooperate with us and help us to help you. Thank you."- Caller: 'out of area' on caller id
- NagelI received the same message from this number. When i called it some man with an Indian accent said "you are stupid and you will be arrested." I asked for more details and he repeated that. I asked him for his name and he yelled at me. I told him I used to be a federal prosecutor (which is true) and he should not be making calls like this. He yelled something I did not understand and hung up.
- TALCall twice today. Same message.
- Caller: Port St. Lucie
- AnonLeft voicemail claiming to be from US Treasury. Caller didn't sound like a legitimate government employee, seems like a scam
- TPMessage stating US Treasury dept. urgent action needed. This is a total sham and the people involved stink like horse poo!
- Greg| 2 repliesThe message described by others is exactly what I got. They left the same exact message multiple times. This is stupid. Somebody stop them.
- EsdeCalled twice claiming to be from the US Treasury with warnings of how it will be interpreted if call not returned. Finished with "help us to help you." First call displays as the Food Bank NYC 212-777-3456 and second from Unknown Name/Private Number
- Caller: Unknown Name
- Jay replies to Greg| 1 replyAs these callers are using spoofed numbers to represent US States codes, so you are more likely to pick up, they can call from any country in the world . By using random number generators they will call multiple numbers at once and talk to whoever answers first, hence the amount of silent calls because they are talking to someone else.As these calls are outwith Federal jurisdiction there is no chance of catching them and the only to cut them back is get a call blocker/ barrer and do it yourself..
- Anonymous Pennsylvania replies to JayGot 3 calls. When I finally said that the US Government wouldn't call from a warehouse but instead communicate in writing, they hung up. My kids are now getting calls on their cell phones.
- TammyThis caller told me that a federal warrant had been issued to arrest me for unpaid taxes and the officers were on their way to pick me up. Refused to send me any information by mail. Said his name was David Gray on my answering machine but then changed it to Brad Wilson after I called him back. Caller had an Indian accent.
- Caller: Port St. Lucia
- Tammy"It's Dennis Gray and I'm calling regarding an enforcement action executive by US treasury intending your serious attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional attempt to avoid initial appearance before a Magistrate Judge or a Grand Jury for a federal criminal offense. My number is 772-408-4731. We need you to cooperate with us and help us to help you. Thank you."
- JAC| 2 repliesThe following message was received Tuesday, 12/15 at 11:00AM from a man with a thick East Indian accent.
"Hello! This message is intended to contact you. My name is ???? (inaudible) and I'm calling regarding an enforcement action executed by the U.S. Treasury intending to receive attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. My number is 1-772-408-4731. BEWARE!!!- Caller: "US Treasury"
- StopCallsJust received the same message as others from 772-408-4731, from the name that sounds the same, India accent, says from US Treasury.
- Caller: Says US Treasury
- RandallI received a voice message on our answering machine today with the same basic info as above, e.g. stated he (could not understand as voice was heavy-duty Indian--I believe), and I needed to return the call as this person was with the US Treasury. There was a lot of background noise like from a call center in the voice mail. I called the number (772-408-4731), and on the first ring, the same voice-mail voice answered the phone. He started into some info about my being behind on income taxes. Before he got further, I told him no way and do what he had to do. With almost a shriek in his voice he said he was sending a Federal Marshall to pick me up, and hung up. Man, my blood pressure must have been about 225 at this point. It is a complete scam, and if I were in charge of the planet I would hunt these vermin down and render justice. Too bad there are such scum breathing air.
- Steve HerzogHas called twice today. Recorded message with bad Indian accent states the following:
"Hi, this message is intended to contact you.
Thank you."- Call type: Telemarketer
- JoseUnfortunately decent but naive people fall for these scams, very frustrating. These vermin only need one success out of hundreds of calls to make a buck so protect your money and don't even answer.
- Rita LiphamI called him back and he cursed me out!
- SteveThey called me today and by the end of the call wanted a Money Gram for $4,500
- Caller: Treasury Dept for IRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- I am no foolI got the same call today. I've been getting these for the past year, different caller phone numbers, including calls to my cell phone. It is an attempt to scam, and not a very convincing one. I replay these to my family so that they can have first hand exposure to what these look and sound like. Having worked for US District Court, I'm confident in posting here that no court in the USA would contact you about any legitimate case or need to appear using a telephone. You always have to call them or appear at a courthouse based on communication via US Postal Service. Furthermore, the US Treasury would have no reason to contact any US Citizen directly regarding a judicial matter.
- Caller: Claims to be US Treasury
- Tina replies to JAC| 1 replyReceived the same message. Just called them back and I just laughed at the guy. Told him to go ahead and arrest me. I don't even make enough money in a year to owe IRS $5450.00. This is definitely a scam.
