Got a call from a guy claimed to be on S, Side of Chicago asking if I still had an item for sale - and INSISTED on paying with pay pal.  Several states away, I asked if agent they would use coming to take possesion was bonded and insured and who he used.  Also said I would have to verify funds directly before item would be relased.
At that point he got scarce......

Paypal angle is being worked hard by scammers - fake emails are sent stating funds have been recieved.  ALWAYS verify your account directly not from passive emails.  Remember they have your email addy to access your paypal account.

Reverse lookup only showed that this was a VOIP number.

I am currently talking to a guy who is using this number and wants to buy a car off me. He's been texting me a Lot. He is insistent on using PayPal and keeps saying his 'shipper agent' will inspect the car after he receives my PayPal information.


You might be right that it is a scam.

This guy has also contacted me in the past few days about buying a car. He says he will send his "agent" to pick up the car and that he will pay for said car using Pay Pal. Totally a scam.

Same guy has contacted me insisting on buying a car from me via paypal. Says he is Steve from Chicago. I text him back and told him I would only sell face to face with cash. Do not fall for this SCAMMER!

Requested to pay for a car through a transaction of paypal, in which, he/she knows nothing about or even attempt in checking out the car. FAIL!

This same number is texting me too wanting to buy my car.  I'm glad I looked up this number.  He/She is also trying to do paypal but I refused.

Yes, I think he has been at this awhile.  Wanted to buy an SUV we had for sale. Got in touch with us by text and even called us.  Now that we figured out what he is up to, he keeps calling and texting.  Thank heavens we came to our senses and figured out what was going on.   Wish I would have seen all this stuff sooner.

Totally a scam!!! he just called me with the same thing

This type of scam has been around for at least 7 years ago. They used to offer you a cashier check or money order.

Yah this guy wants to ship my old beater, and it would cost more to ship than it is actually worth.
I felt like sticking it on a truck for him, especially if he is paying up front.  It would get it out of my drive way.

This guy called me and wanted to buy my car I just posted on recyler last night.  He wants paypal.  He tried calling me I didn't answer.  He's pretty stupid using the same number and location. Looks like he is consistent for the year 2013.  Must have been a New Years resulotion to rip people off.  Yeah right

i have been contacted by this same number also wanting to buy a car i have listed on cl. he has texted me saying he would pay me via paypal and have his ''shipper agent'' pick the car up after i am paid. i told him cash sale only,after i looked this number up. thanks for the posts its a big help to us that are being scammed by people like that.

Yep, this same [***] tried scamming me too...says he's a trucker and wants to send me through paypal $500 more than the asking price for my car and have me wire the money to his shipper. Red flag. I said stop hiding behind a bunch of texts and call me. He did! He is an Asian of some kind calling through a google subscriber. I've  still got him on the hook.. he thinks visa-versa...wrong. Lets see if I can trap him or at least screw with him!
