19Jul12 at 8:11 EST Two calls from 778 785 6246 in the last hour. Nobody was there when  I answered

Got this call at 830pm - no one there when I answered.
i called this number back and got a recording that said "you were called to participate in a survey, but the survey time has now expired".
That was quick considering I called it 2 minutes after they called me.

7/19/12 - 5:38 pm MT -- Answered and no one was there.

Same happened to me: I received two calls around 8:00pm, no answer.  And same response when I called back, "you were called to participate in a survey, but the survey time has now expired".  People who doesn't have a job and only wants to bother another ones!!!  :0(

have been called 4 times in the last 2 days - no one answers

It has happened 6 times today and always the same: This is Ann with Political Opinions.... I hang up. It is really starting to get on my client's nerves because she can't get to the phone quickly anymore and she thinks it's something important.

Didn't recognize number. I was waiting to hear a message on my answering machine.. No message. Hung up when I didn't answer. Dial tone.  Same number as a called received last night.

Rang. Answered. Nada. Added # to Spam...

I  answered this call, and there was no one there!!!!  I have 'DO NOT CALL" but they still get through.  What can be done??

Got a call from this number at 1:47PM, recorded message from "Ann" asking me to participate in a short survey regarding "our nation's national debt".  For participating, I was to receive a 2 day cruise....YEAH RIGHT!!....obviously a scam, I hung up.  PS:  Normally I wouldn't even have answered, but I did b/c I mistook the # for a friend's.

Got a call from this number again today, and for the first time listened to it and clidked 9, which they said would remove me from their call list. Right away, thought oops, I shouldn't have done that in case it gave them access to use my line. I';ll have to watch that now

I have National Do Not Contact registered for my phone.  This number calls my land line and my cell phone.  I reject the call but they keep on calling back.  I think this must be against the law unless Telus is doing it to rack up money on prepaid cell phones.  GRRRRRRR

Based on the messages I read about this number, it looks like the scammers went on vacation and are back using it again

They also use the number 778-785-6244 . Same "campaing" to scam people

Wonder if the "vacation" happened coincident with that big power issue in India a while back....?  But, yes, "They're Ba-a-a-ck!"  as the young lady said.

More seriously, "Ann" is nowt but a scam, the free cruise behind the "survey" is either a hard-sell Time Share or simply a way to part you from your money by sending in a "small fee to claim your prize.."

Here in Canada, I actually spoke to a CRTC official who took the time to respond to my complaint and tell me that there is nothing they can do when the call originates outside Canada. Similarly, the US FTC appears to be powerless, saying that although the calls appear to originate in Florida (as per the Canadian govt), they in fact are coming in to Florida from who-knows-where (Mombai? Beijing? Vladivostock? etc), making both governments essentially powerless to enforce their own rules as they currently exist.    Sigh...

So, hang up, hang up, hang up and complain complain complain....  You Americans are in an election cycle- why not ask your wanna-be congressperson what THEIR plan is to deal with this menace? If nothing else, you may get some amusement from their answers.
