called me a few minutes ago...I, thinking it was a friend, stupidly called back...automated voice answered "if you want to be removed from this list press any number, this may take up to 48 hours"...Lord I hope it's really as simple as being removed from a telemarketing list and not some hijacker!

DONT PUT YOUR NAME or NUMBER on YET ANOTHER LIST!!
they may not call, but will sell do not call list to others who will.

Answered it. Robot: (Woman) "FBI says" 'about home break ins in your area' "Would you like a free security sign of one of the top security companies that prevent break ins, but no installation of any such  device press 1" "If you like to be placed on a do not call list press 9."
I pressed 9.

I got a call from this #. i dont know what it is. Probably either a prank call sales call

These people call whether you're on the Do Not Call list or not. Doesn't that suggest something about their business ethics?  Don't bother to press 9 to be removed from their predictive dialer, they won't. Much better not to answer calls whose Caller ID you don't recognize.

A Boston telemarketer wanting to install a "free" security system in my home in exchange for putting a sign in my front yard.

This concerns me: this number rang on both my cell _and_ home phone line at exactly the same time, 6:58PM. No message was left on either.

Called, but I didn't reach my phone in time so I called the number-now worried that I am going to be charged a large amount.

Local area code, so i answered. recorded womans voice started out "The FBI says there is a home break-in every..." then i hung up. This is my UNLISTED cell number. Either AT&T is selling numbers OR Facebook is. They are the only place online that I have it listed.

YES, Comcast, Verizon and all phone companies cell your info. My friend is a Lawyer for Comcast. I had a Comcast account with their email they gave me. Not only do they sell ALL your info but they make more money by doing so than from service. Also if you have an email with their domain like I did such as servergms@comcast.net They own that email and all information associated with it. When I dropped Comcast they took my email along with all my old messages I had and removed them from my Office account! I had tons of info against Comcast in those messages and they just removed all of them on their own so I could not sue them do to lack of evidence. Friggin all scammers! I used to get 12 calls a day now  got MagicJackPlus and no more calls works the same way with more options unlisted and now I pay $30 a yr instead of $45 a month! Highly advise all to get it. Also get an email that is from Hotmail , yahoo or Google or your own domain so that way it is completely your forever.
Do not call that number back! There is a new scam where they hijack your number and use it to threaten people worldwide if you don't pay them what they ask. So people will call you  threatening police action for what they were told from your number! Friggin weird............

7818840698  when I called it back it said to be removed within 24-48 hours ..... that was it. I didn't get all of what it said. But I have an Obama Welfare phone so I have no clue how they got it except that they are just going through numbers in order. mine is a 508 area code.I could care less as I can have this number changed easily.But it is the 1st time I got such a call. They could be making sure all phones work and one day use it as a weapon against us by sending a certain frequency could actually kill you or cause you mental harm.I know this technology is being used as my family works with such defense contractors. I just called it and it says  "pls press any digit to be removed. You be removed with 48 hours, thank you."

Someone called me from this number and was very sexually offensive! Asked what I was wearing and how large my member was. inappropriate!
