I recd an email from this person that called himself the Rev Robert Clark from the Presbyterian Church of God - He wanted to purchase cast bronze plaques that said God Is Good and send them to Indonesia
to the tune of $6000 - he gave me a credit card number , his address - but all seemed fishy
He kept emailing and asking if I was the owner, He also wanted me to call the shipping company and set up a pick up from my company - When i said I couldnt process the credit card without contacting the issuing bank - he said it was a MC issued from City Bank - so I called my local bank and talked to
a fraud expert - of course no City bank ( not to be confused with Citi Bank) so I told the "Rev" I would need him to scan the cc and his identification and email it to me - havent heard from him since- but I have wasted numerous hours quoting and messing with this person - time lost -
I would sure like to catch him, someone down the line might fall for this scam

I received an email from our website over the weekend for a quote for 70 printed vinyl banners from Rev Robert Clark for the Presbyterian Church of God in Indonesia. Same form in the message, same verbaige: ...(In Caps) "WHAT TYPE OF CREDIT CARDS DO YOU ACCEPT? ARE YOU THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY?".
The total for his order was $16,140.00... He has called me twice today and I can hardly understand him, and yes there is a ton of background noise!!!  When I told him the oder was over 16K, he said it was in his budget...now I'm waiting to hear from him about his shipping company and a quote so he can pay the whole bill in one transaction. Thank goodness I found this website. Guess who's NOT on my Christmas Card List this year? Cheers All!  Ric E

I just spoke with the "Rev Clark" about 5 minutes ago and I think I have a way of disarming him:
I told him that I spoke with my Boss, and he said that if Rev Clark was going to buy 16,000.00 worth the banners from us for the Presbyterian Church of God in Indonesia, the least we could do would be pay for the shipping!!!  

He started backing up, insisting that we must arrange shipping with his freight company, and then after I insisted that we would pay the shipping several more times, he hung up on me!

Same thing here - wants to order 1 of our products and ship it to Ghana via his shipping company.  gave me 5 different credit cards to try running.  I got curious so I called our credit card processing company - first two cards came back as lost/stolen.  This info came direct from Bank of America (our c/c processing co) so I know it's true.  Rev. Larry Johnson...  SCAM!!!!!!  Sellers BEWARE!!!!!  Also gave me a phone # of 1-937-418-2539.  This is a SCAM to get you to send them money from stolen credit cards.

The key to the scam is the shipper.  He never wants to use UPS, FedEx, or the USPS.  He always wants quotes minus the shipping.  Then they tell you to use his shipper (that he has used before and trusts), then he wants you to pay them and reinburse yourself from the credit card number he has provided.  So you pay yourself and the shipper from a probably stolen credit card, and you end up eating not only the items he ordered but the shipper's share of the charge also.

For me it was 2000 plates from Church Of God in Indonesia.  Rev Matt.  I am grateful for you saving me from this scam.

Got a quote request from the Rev Clark Robert with the following phone number and email address (781-941-2217 robertclark2g@gmail.com).

Rev Matt Clark called requesting an order for some loover shutters for his church in Indonesia for $8750 + $4755 for freight.  He gave us a credit card number to charge.  It didn't work.  He gave us another.  It didn't work. Finally the 3rd one worked.  He wanted us to pay his special freight company that day.  We manufacture, so the order wouldn't be ready for 8 weeks and told him that there shouldn't be a need for this.  We also told him that we could arrange the freight for much less.  He insisted on his freight company, which we googled.  It seemed legitimate but it was in Africa.  We told him that we couldn't pay the freight company until the credit card money was in our account, but didn't realize that if it was a phony card they could chargeback our card for 90 days.  Luckily, our credit card company saw red flags by the 3 different card number attempts and contacted us.  They told us to google the phone number and this is what I found.  We reversed the charges.  Was told to do this asap as we will still be charged finance charges from the credit card processor.

He's a busy guy and still at it....the Christmas wishes were a nice touch tho ;)

Got the same message. Just remember that if the email is poorly written, with spelling mistakes, numerous capitilizations where they are not necessary and simple grammar mistakes it is most likely a scam. When someone wants to do business with you they want to present themselves in the best light. This guy is an idiot with a terrible grasp on simple grammar.

i got an email from Rev. Garrett Looking for banners. Customer wastes your time trying to order product then wants to pay by a stolen credit card. the card will go through but he wants to pay extra and then have you ship him the "shipping" money.  he doesn't care about the banners or whatever product you are selling. he uses the church to get people to trust him more. do not fall for this scam.

I own a small sign company that has been in the biz for over 35 years and when you come accross something like this..... ya you get a little nervous and at the same time, feel awesome that this is such a big order...... BUT DON'T GET FOOLED!!!! I as well as anybody with a little common sense, thought.... check this guy out. I just got the same email request -- and yes, of course, I was thrilled for the $$$... but like all of you, it didn't "feel" quite right. This site was easy to find -- so thank s for all the postings.

I got the exact same email as enduro -- except his name was Rev Garrett Stake, but no Christmas greetings or phone #.

After reading all your comments i quickly emailed him back and said I wasn't able to do such a large credit card transaction.

How do you stop a guy like this?

Just received an email for a quote on 10 each of 7 various sizes of banners for Rev. Robert Clark of Presbyterian Church of God. He uses poor English and wants a quote without shipping and then one that includes the cost of shipping, using his shipping company. He wants to know if I am the owner and what type of credit card I accept. Thanks to your postings, I will not be responding to his inquiry.
