A man saying his name is Nelson Carter with the Dept. of Legal Affairs of the USTreasury wanted to speak with my daughter (long grown and moved away) about an emergency with her taxes.

This recent report by NBC News contains a phone number to report such scammers to the IRS.

Received a call from a Nelson Carter stating he was with the Department of Legal Affairs of the US Treasury. Threatened police involvement to come arrest me and stated that numerous letters were mailed to the home address.   Called from (786) 565-4927.

Nelson Carter from the US treasury department called from this number stating that my wife was in trouble and would be arrested.  He had a thick accent when confronted he hung up.

Says his name is Richard Walker with legal affairs telling me to call him or have my lawyer call him. Thing is, I'm married and don't live at the house he called any more. Funny, the government has my tax returns do they know that.

I guess Nelson changed his name to Shaun White. This number has now been posted on FB by a friend and now everyone is calling back to harass him back!

Had a message on our phone that Nelson Cater wants us to call him back about a legal affair, he claimed this was our vebal notification and that we should call him back or have our attorney call him back????

Changed name to Conner. Same thing thick accent calling for Us Treasurer

called my fiancée and left message with mom stating he was Nelson Carter and that he has information in litigation!  What a joke don't call this number its a scam

Richard Walker called me yesterday stating he is with the US Treasury, Department of Legal Affairs.  Please put a complaint with the FTC www.ft.gov as this is a scam.

A lady called me with a foreign accent on my cell phone and left message. She said she was calling from the Dept. of Legal Affairs, And Dept. of Treasury. She said she was an officer but I couldn't make out her name. The phone number that showed up was 786-691-3418  Miami, Florida. The phone call was around 5pm. She said if I can't call back to get my lawyer to call. If not I will have a legal mess. This is a big scam!!!! Dept.  of Treasury will always send letter by regular mail. They will never call you.
