Scammer calls claiming to be holding a relative hostage and demands money for their release.  Don't sent money.  Calls originating from Puerto Rico.

just received a similar call but knew it was scam due to indecisiveness they were using generic info. claimed to have my brother and said they had him in orlando "which is my area code" and he lives in north carolina

We were at Dollar Tree this afternoon. Daughters cell phone rang but she doesn't answer it if she doesn't know the number. Then my cell rang. It was the same number so figured it was someone who knew both of us. I answered it. Man asked if I spoke spanish and I said no. He went into something about having my family and I couldn't really understand what he was saying with his accent. He got frustrated with me that I didn't understand and then said something about my family was in an accident? When I asked him to explain slowly what he ws trying to say  he asked again if I spoke spanish. Told him No, only english. Called me a f***ing B*tch and I hung up on him. Got home and asked my son-in-law if he got a call and he checked his phone and saw that same number called him too. Thank goodness for these sites that you can just type in the phone number to see what is said about them.

This people called my phone said they had my brother and I needed to pay 2000 . Itrack the number and they are in puerto rico jayuya caretera 141.i got family there and the looking for them .trust me this guy wont make a call ever again att los lobos praaa

called my mom and told her they were holding me hostage after a hit and run accident. im lying on her couch. crazy people... the authorities have been notified.

Today 9/15/2012 I was called by this number and it's a damn shame Wat this people do I spoke to a guy by the name of Jose he said his brother had my steP father and my mother hostage thy Told me only things my family would know they told me names and my address most of my parents information i was told not to contact the authorities or they would kill my step father I followed my instincts called my parents no answer so I got worried I hung up with the so call kidnapper and waited for police to come made. A report I really hope they catch these people thy could give anyone a. Heart attack after 30min I found out my parents where fine thank jesus god bless everyone thx for readin

omg jus got a call saying they have a member hostage omg it was scary n they calld my grandfather n he so old he was soo scared i called the police...ugh people have no life wow....

On 9/26/2012 someone from this number called me and told me that my sister and brother in law had an accident here in Orlando. That my brother in law backing up hit his family member in a bike and then run away. That another family member follow him and intercept him  and got them in an apt in Kissimmee. That I need to bring the money for the repairs of his nephew bike or his nephew was going to kill them.

On 9/27/2012 my sister inlaw received a call from this number the stroy they told her was almost exact as the previous reported here.  Claimed they had her brother hostage after an accident with one of their family members and that they wanted $2,500. A police report was comepleted.

Got a phonecall of this nr. A man told me that he received my phone nr of a family member who was going to die. He didn't know if it was my brother, or husband.... I do not have a husband or brother.
He made up a story, which I didn't understand as he spoke with a very heavy accent.
He became mad and I just hung up.

I just got the same call...freaked me out....played along with it until i was able to have my fiance get ahold of my brother who was fine at work...then I hung up...should have stayed on the line to tell them off...but was more interested in talking to my brother....

These a**es tried to tell me that my brother ran over their nephew and that he ran away and they chased him and beat him to hell...then told me that had him in their apartment and wanted me to drive to transfer them money before they let me talk to him....at first, it sounded legit like he was in an accident and they were just trying to get information from me to verify that my brother was the one involved in the accident...but the more it went on, it started sounding like a scam...but of course I wanted to somehow make sure my brother was fine before getting off the line...they were relentless in their demands of me following their instructions.  These guys should be found and taken to prison for a long time!  I should have Googled this number while I was on the phone with them, but getting a call like that just shocks you.  I hope anyone else you gets this call doesn't fall for their scam.

This idiot called my mother and told her he had my step-dad and was going to hurt him if my mom didn't give him $1,000. She was freaking out until she realized it was a scam and asked the guy that if he really had my step-dad to put him on the phone and while she was doing this I called my step-dad on my cell and he was safe and sound. When she said he was ok the guy hung and all before I could grab the phone from my mom and give that idiot a piece of my mind.

Someone just called me from this number - 787-980-6851 -787 is a Puerto Rico area code - they claimed a brother or husband had just had an accident- please note this is a scam - I told them if you are legit give me the persons name that gave you my number- he started cursing and tried to intimidate me by saying it was my relative that was hurt and that he did not care- I told him if you are trying to help why are you trying to intimidate me and are speaking this way? As a warning to anyone receiving a call from this number it is a scam - I recognized it as such right away I do not have a husband or a brother in PR!!!!   -  they are fast talking and intimidating- and are hoping that if you have someone in PR you will panic- do not give out any information- Please protect yourself they speak fast to get you scared and nervous -

Just called me. same thing. I was so scared. I went to the police station while I had them on the phone. the police heard most of it. The police officer asked me why i was so upset.  They knew nothing decisive. I told the officer in the moment I was just a very scared single mom. I asked the officer if he wanted the 2 phone numbers they were calling from..he said no. There is nothing the police can do.

Today I received the same call... wats going on in this world... People can b so devilish...somebody has to do sumthing!!!jus talked to police , can't do nothin...WTF r u serious!!!

Can't the number be traced(gps)...sumthing ???these people gotta b hold accountable....

I got a call from 787-980-6851 asking me to wire $2500 to save somebody's life...I played along...the guy is an idiot and IT IS A SCAM.
