I just had one of these calls, ive had them for a few days now and everytime i phone back it wont let me phone them. I had one from a similar numebr a few months ago on '0008004046601'. On the occaison i managed to answer i was greeted  with an indian lady confirming my name, then she started to ask for my adress details. when I chanllenged her as to why she was phoning or who she was phoning from she got shirty and hung.
Please remember never to give out you details unless you initiate the phone call  to a trusted number.
    NEVER give out bank details!

Had 5 phone calls this week,

The call apparently originates in the phillipines.

The lady says shes from Virgin Media and tries to verify address and package details

I told her it was a sin to lie and that she should be very ashamed of herself.

I've had 117 calls from this number in the last 30 days. Yes, you read that right. Whether I answer or leave it to ring, there's never anyone at the other end and it never goes to voicemail. I presume it is Virgin Media as I have a broadband package with them, but why it's coming from an American number is anyone's guess. I've had to put my phone on "silent" during the day just to stop it annoying my work colleagues. If anyone can tell me who I need to call to get them to stop ringing me, I'd really appreciate it!

I was getting these calls... answered today and they identified themselves as Virgin Media... they say they're going to send me a free digibox and didn't ask for any bank details or anything, so I'll find out whether it's legit or not when a package does or does not arrive with Virgin branding on it!

I rang VM back to confirm it was one of theirs, and they have no idea, and cannot find out either... useless!

Hi, i keep getting these. I just rang Virgin and they said it WAS virgin who had called and they're giving away free digi boxes to customers who have not got the tv but have either bb or a phone line with them. They say they're giving them away for free because you can get freeview on them.  He also said you would not be able to ring back the number, like we all cant. So dont worry.

Yep, me too. It's August now, several months later than some previos months, and they try to call me approx twice a day. I haven't answered so far, just press the abort button. I figured they'd get fed up after a while.

Just like spammers, what morons are they. Do they think they can hassle someone like that and then think we will BUY something from them?

I get these calls too. Been happening on and off for few months but more in the last few weeks. No one is there when I answer and any messages I get are blank (thanks for the one I picked up while in the US - loved paying for that).

I'm also a VM customer, but I figure that if it really is virgin they'd leave a message, or send something in the post. They send enough rubish as it is, one more thing won't break their budget!!!!
    • Caller: not sure, no one ever on the other end!

I recieved another phone call from this same number yesterday but didnt know who it was from so didnt answer it.  It then went straight to my answering machine and it was a man going "hahahaha" down the phone and then he hung up.  Getting really fed up of these calls.

My letter to the complaints department:-

I am being hounded by a Virgin media call center (clearly in the states) asking me to upgrade my service, the number that has tried to call me for the past week (three times on average a day) is:- +001 8000 135333 having “Googled” this number it is apparent it is one our your call centers (https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/8000135333) I’m shocked to learn my details have been passed to a 3rd party without either my knowledge or consent

I have been a loyal customer for nearly 3 years, I'm seriously considering leaving your organization if these calls do not desist immediately.  Failure to comply with this request will result in our organization being reported to Ofcom, along with immediate cancellation of my account and direct debit.

I look forward to your soonest response.

    Regards
    xxxx

    This was their response:-

    Dear Mr xxxx

Hi, every day up to five times a day for the past eight weeks i have received calls from phone number +18000135333 , my question is how do i stop it.

Answered my phone by just saying,"Hello".A recorded message then said,"Hello,we are calling from Virgin Media and would really like to talk to you but something has gone wrong,we will call again in the next few days". How bizarre,if something was wrong why not fix it before phoning me. It did occur to me that if i had given my name or confirmed my number the response may have not been a silly recorded message.Sound like a fisching scam, beware.

I received calls from this number when not in, and no messages were left. However when they did finally catch me, it was Virgin Media offering a free V box (I am already a Virgin customer). They have called since to check it arrived ok, and that everything is working.

It seems to me some people on this forum are being rather paranoid...
