800-111-1000

I received a call from this number.  The person claimed to be from "The US Government Grants Department"  They claimed I had been awarded a $9,200.00 grant from the department of Health and Human Services.    They then wanted information from me so they could send me the grant in either cash, or a Visa/Mastercard. When i asked if they could just mail me a check like every other time I've recieved money from the government (i.e. tax refunds), they said they couldn't. They refused to give me a callback number, or any other real information.  I didn't give them any  of my information. Instead, I hung up on them and reported them to the FTC.  

This is a scam.  The government won't call you out of the blue and offer you random money with no information backing it up.  Do not give these people any info, and report them to the FTC if you can.

Just got a call from this 1-800-111-1000 number saying I am being given a grant. I believe this to be a scam. :(

I've gotten a call like this as well, ones yesterday and twice today. I didn't answer because I never answer calls like this I just thought it was weird that they keep calling. I got a separate call with the same number but the last digit was different.. 800-111-1005... From the comments above BE SMART AND DO NOT ANSWER THIS CALL.
