- jackNCO Financial is one of the largest collection agencies on the planet. They often purchase debt from other agencies that is outdated and try to collect on it anyway. Especially old medical debt. If they call you ask them exactly what debt they are calling about. If you have the means to record calls, record them because they often abridge the FDCPA, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. You should familiarize yourself with it. If they leave information about the debt with anyone but the actual person who owes the debt or their spouse, they've broken the law. They can't call you more than once a day and they can't use abusive language. If they've dona any of the above it's a guaranteed $5,000 lawsuit. If they don't do any of those things, get an address and send them aletter telling them not to call you, it's called a cease and desist letter. There are examples all over the internet. Then if they call after they've received the letter, it's law suit time again. Good luck.

- DonToday we got the fifth call from these folks. They are looking for the former owner of our home. We tell them they moved over 6 years earlier, answer any questions we can (not many) and firmly demand they remove our number (that they outrageously claim was the former owner's number and quit calling us. All to no avail.
Do I have to go through the same process a debtor has to do to get them off our tail? Do we have any rights to protection from harassment as we are not the ones being sought out?
Anybody out there been burned by firms like this that can offer suggestions?- Caller: NCO Financial?
- Patricia HI recieved a call today from Ms.Johns who was extremely rude, how she got my last 4 of my social I have no idea. She threaten me that I owe this bill she refuse to give me her full name the location she was calling from. She continued to talk over me and called me a liar that I did sign a contract with American Express. I then asked to speak with her supervisor Ms. Perez. She was just as rude. Both would not give me a fax number address or last name. I asked if she would send me a copy of the contract. She said why would I need it if I know I signed the applicaiton. I kept on telling her I did not a credit card with AMEX. After hanging up with her, I told her I will call AMEX. I called back to tell them not to call me anymore. I again asked for the fax # 215 442-8318 and corporate office 215-442-8316 both numbers are fax. I called back then was given another fax # 623-580-6219 and another corp. headquarters. 800 377-3663 the gentleman that answered the phone had no clue. He was based in New York w/NCO, I called back was told they were based in AZ, when asked for a physical addr. still refused, I ask for an address again. PO Box 5773 Wilmington DE 19850, I will see if thats correct. There has to be a law with false information and the tone and the threats, expecially to someone who is not on this debt.

- RICHI too have been getting constant calls from NCO. I dont answer these calls since the problem that I had with Americredit has been resolved for over a year and a half ago. I had co-signed for a car and that car was stolen and vandalized after getting a report from the Highway Patrol who located the vehicle I was informed from Americredit to send the information and the contact info of the vehicle to the GAP Insurance Agency. The Gap Insurance recieved the information and sent it to Americredit. But yet someone there at Americredit was not filing the information correctly or were neglegent as they continued to harrass me and my family about payment. I continued to send them documented proof of the account with the Highway Patrol and the Gap Insurance Co. to them. The person agreed and explained that someone must have not cleared the claim and I we were assured that it would be rememdied. BUT GUESS WHAT IT WASNT! So I had no choice from constant harrassing calls to find an attorney and end the harrassment. Now a year later here I go again. To those who feel it necessary to purchase a vehicle, please I beg you not to look toward a loan from anyone other than your bank, or a credit union. Americredit and NCO are a constant problem to people who finance or owe to them. They are persistant and will stop at nothing to get what they want. If it comes to what I had and seem to now go through, get an attorney, look into the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, get a ease and desist letter. Also look into the company that is calling you. The Rip off Report has some stories and suggestions on what to do.

- Bill LaPore replies to paula coleThey get the information off of your credit application you once filled out when you bought the car. You must of listed your mothers phone number as next of kin. They will try anything. I think your case exceeds the S.O.L. and should be no problem to you. If you really want them to stop just ask them for an address so as you can send them what they want and then send them a certified letter advising them they are not to contact you via phone anymore as per the Fair Debt Collections Act and that should be that. Good luck.
- JackThis number called our company (my extension) today. I realize they are a Collection Agency, and according to the Fair Credit Act, they are not supposed to call persons' employers to discuss an individual's debt. I cut them off when they NAMED the individual for whom they were calling, said they were a collection agency, and informed me they needed to speak to the individual to collect on a debt from the company that hired them (and NAMED the company.)
