They left a message on my machine asking for (mumbled) first name and my last name and to please call back concerning case # XXXXXXX.  I called back. they would not i.d. them selves and were generally rude.
When I state that I was not Michele (the name they mumbled) she asked for my phone number which I stupidly recited to her.

Called me left a message saying I should call back about case #xxxxx. Gave their name as "Court Collect" or some such. I called back. The person who answered did not identify any company, but referred me to someone else, who spoke may name, said I need to clear up a Bank of America credit card balance of some $4,0000. I asked him who they are, and he said "We are a financial services company and we are trying to help you clear up this matter." I said I don't know what you are talking about. He asked for the last 4 digits of my social security number which I refused to give, and I asked what information they have. He repeated the story about the $4,000 credit card balance, said they are just trying to help me clear it up. I said I have gotten nothing about that in the mail. He asked if my address was xxxx I said no. He asked for my "new address" I told him it is not a new address, and refused to give it to him. He said that we are just wasting time and hung up.

I also got a very threatening messaage from a man who mumbled his name. When I called back I spoke with a woman who insisted I have a large outstanding balance with Visa- Bank of America. I didn't. I asked for the supervisor & the person I spoke to gave me incorrect info for my SS# & Birthdate but refused to say who he represented or the company he worked for. I called VISA & they said it was bogus. They do not hire this company (whoever it is) & the phone number isn't theirs. Beware!

    don't give them any info
They keep calling me say they are from CCI want to speak to a specific member of my family. I ask for the bday of the party and they say they do not have to give it to me and they start yelling at me. I tell them send a registered letter to me since if this an official matter they must have my address to send it to.  They say they have and I know that's a lie.  They continue to yell at me until I tell them I will report them to the police and have the call traced and they say go ahead and continue to yell. My cat stepped on auto redial and the phone them started auto dialing they immediately hung up without another word but they have started caling again.  Who are these people anyway

Had several calls over a 2-3 week span with "out of area" on caller ID.  Today, 7/22/08 they left a message.  My voice mail identified the number only as 416.  The message was to call the 800 243-7167 number because they need to contact an "associate" of this "residence".  The male gave a name that I had never heard of in my life.  He wanted me to call back, gave an extension number and a case number.  I did not call  back, and will not call back.

Received a call from 800-243-7167 which I didn't answer as I have been receiving several calls 3-5 times a day.  Made the mistake of answering the first time and was accused of being a particular person and lying.  I refused to give any info as they would not provide any information regarding who they were, company name, address etc.  They wanted my social security number which I refused to give and also told me that they had gotten my name from a federal government skip trace agency. The person also screamed that I would talk with them and they would call me every damn day.  I hung up and called AT&T and requested call tracing so they could obtain the name and address in order for me to send a cease and desist letter.  In the meantime  I have resorted to occassionally picking up the call and blasting as hard as I can with a field whistle into the phone.  Imagine the agony to their ear.

    tired of calls
They call repeatedly all week. It is a recorded message. It leaves an 866 # as the call back number. The voice is very intimadating that leaves the message. I refuse to call them back without knowing who I'm calling and for what reason. The message never says who it is they are trying to reach. I wish a real person would call so I could get info to report them the the fair debt collection agency and file a law suit. Law suits are about the only thing these rude people understand.

I work for CollectCorp. We do everything by FTC and FDCPA policy. We have to thouroughly research US policy and law due to our being in Canada.

    Pay your debts.

No, Collectcorp doesn't do everything by FTC and FDCPA policy.  I had an account transferred to these guys and I've documented six grossly obvious FDCPA and three more that I'm consulting with a lawyer about. They're an extremely unethical company -- Google some of their court cases and see how many times consumers have taken them to court over these violations.  They've lost the vast majority of these suits.

I'm sure there's some collectors that are law-abding and ethical.  But if you're being harassed, you have rights.

It's just too bad that not everyone is responsible enough to deal with overborrowing, and would rather come up with excuses and reasons to avoid their responsibilities.  Over-borrowing is one of the main reasons our country is in such turmoil right now.  This company had never asked me to provide them with any card information or anything like that, I paid my bill with the bank off through these people, I won't lie some of them were very rude, but there were a few people I spoke with that really did help me.  I am glad I paid up, it took me 6 months but now I don't have to deal with the B.S. of daily calls, and luckily my credit wasn't ruined.

You people who claim to be debt collectors are just making yourselves look worse by that ignorant spamming type of typing.

I have a good job, I pay my bills and NO I didn't go out on Black Friday to spend.  I guess I'm below average too because I don't have 7 credit cards either.  I hope by paying off my debts to put nasty folks like you in the poor house.  You say it will never happen to you, but wait, your day will come when you get a phone call and you won't like it much.

Collectors need to lose the attitude about collecting.  You don't have as much power as you think you do.  Scare tactics don't work.

    Stop spamming up this board.

    Get a REAL job.

What these people who we are caling dont understand is that when we say your being sued, you will be sued, in the fdcpa, which us collectors are very framiliar with, its our bible, its states it is illegal to say your being sued unless the client fully intends to sue you. YOU ARE BEING SUED
congrats you pay your bills, i pay my bills now lets get every one else to pay there bills and ill go work customer service
not all collectors are [***] only the ones u hang up on, or swear at, were people too and dont appreciate it were just doing our jobs, so we can pay our bills so people like us dont call

These ppl are calling our house twice a day looking for my husbands ex-wife. I've already spoken to 2 different callers and both promised that we would be removed from their contact list but this never happens... My husband and his ex have been divorced for over 12 years. How can I get them to quit harrassing us...Shes remarried look up her new marriage certificate and move on to bothering some one else. And If it is a Bank of America account..My husband and myself are current account holders both banking and VISA. Talk about others being LAZY..maybe if you did better research before calling anyone with the same last names ppl wouldn't have to have these forums.
