I did not get a call, but I had a mysterious $1 debit against my checking account, with 800-251-7551 TX listed on the transaction.  When I called them, their automated system kept asking me for a PIN number.  I reported the transaction to my bank's fraud section.

This is the possibility: It's Stonebridge Insurance and if you have auto-pay for your policy set up you are seeing this likely because your bank card has expired that is linked to the account and you haven't updated your account with the new expiration date. Log in to your account and check the card information. You need to go onto all your auto-pay accounts online to update the card's new expiration date or your payments won't go through and you will be late making the payments. Some companies will send you an email notifying you that your card on file shows the expiration date is soon to be "expired" and you will need to update the information...but you can't count on all of them doing that. When the bank sends you a new card it is your responsibility to update all accounts connected to the card.  Hope this helps!

Received a text regarding a *PREAUTH charge of $1 against my credit card from my bank's fraud dept. Bank provided me with the following 800-251-7551 SB in TX for the transaction.  When I called them, their automated system kept asking me for a PIN number.  I reported the transaction as fraudulent to my bank.

Same thing happened to me. Got a $1 charge on my credit card. Bank canceled it. And they charged it again. All I get is the automated message asking for a pin number.  How do you get this to stop? I have no idea what this even is.
    • Caller: I called to activate my new card.

Start with working with your bank on this - Your card and pin may have been compromised?  Unless your bank is using a fake transaction to verify your new card?  Take notes, take names and demand answers.

Based on prior posts, be very careful about this sort of call. There is a chance "Shannon" was a shill for a phishing scam. If you are a Stonebridge client, call them on a number you know is good and verify any call your received.

See the posts here on our sister site -  https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-800-251-7551

Since this number does not trace back easily to Stonebridge, I am very skeptical about the calls. And Stonebridge itself does not seem to be very active in the USA. Like I say, very skeptical.
