This number is from a collection or debt agency that has the name starting with Central Recovery. The handle accounts such as Kay Jewelers. They are not nice people.

    tired of it
they keep calling for somebody I have never heard of. At least their dialer does. Too funny they think someone owing them money is going to call them back. Anyway, it is way bothersome having the phone ring time and time again only to see it is this dialer

I have taken this information from a client's collection letter:
This is listed as Central Portfolio Control, Inc.  6640 Shady Oak Road, Suite 300, Eden Prairie, MN 55344-7710.  They are a collection agency.  They buy numerous accounts from different sources.  The signature on the collection letter I have in front of me is Bryan O'Toole.  The letter says that the collection agency is licensed by the Collection Service Board, State Department of Commerce and Insurance, 500 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, TN 37243.  Look up the Fair Debt Collections Act. http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf  It tells how to stop collections and where to report it - documentation to keep and collect once you have told them to stop harassing you at work, etc. good luck.
NEVER work out settlements without getting the offer in writing FIRST before sending any money.

    NCO student loan collection.
Apparently these "classy" well-trained, guard dogs, will bark up the wrong tree.
My uncle has a student loan from 20 years ago.  Im the lucky chap that has the same name as my dead beat uncle.  So "John davis" the collector thinks i'm lieing... He thinks im just denying that Im my uncle.  WE HAVE THE SAME FREAKEN NAME!!! Anyways... These guys will call and call until a person might need therapy.  I CANT SLEEP WITH OUT THEM CALLING.  So i decided to help my uncle take care of this matter for good.  Of course my recommendation and any professional will tell you "Its always best to make payments!" but its always best to know your options before negotiating with these "Classy" Collectors.  Heres a website I found that some "Student Loan collector" Made... He spills the beans....
    http://www.studentloanfundamentals.com/blog/

Hes a collector so i still hate him, but personally I think this is the first time some one actually came out the laid out the rules on the table.  Its a mystery as to why this type of thing isn't more accessible.

This company will call and call trying to harass as many people as they can. Next time they call you document it and call a credit attorney they are always in violation of FCRA.

I have had calls for "Samuel Boyd" from this phone number on my land line.  No Samuel Boyd has ever lived here.  The message says approximately "This is a call for Samuel Boyd.  This is not ... [it says a couple things they claim not to be--probably including what they actually are].  If you are Samuel Boyd, please press 1.  If you are not Samuel Boyd, please press 8 to speak with a representative to have your name removed from our list."  Then if you press 8 you just get a few bars of the Moonlight Sonata over and over punctuated by a recorded voice saying "Thank you for contacting us, we will be with you shortly."  After about 3 minutes the phone disconnects.  I don't suppose it's actually possible to speak with someone there or to get them to remove my phone number from their list, at least not voluntarily.

I blame the cable company's also. As part of a deal I have "home Phone" but I don't have an active land line plugged in, never have, never used one...don't even know what my "home phone" is but on my tv I get caller ID messages that for an incoming call. How would any 'company' have 'my' 'phone number' if I have never used it and only the cable company has it?

These idiots call anywhere from 4-6-8 times a day using 877-411-6748, at any hour. Such pests!! They should have to pay a BIG HEFTY fine for being so annoying. Never do answer their calls, but 1-to-2 minutes later they turn around and call under 800-280-1565, or, 800-466-3142, and finally  a private "unknown" a few minutes after that. Planning to file a complaint about them with my state attorney's office. Enough is enough of this garbage from somebody whom you've never done business with.

From the posts on here, the company is not adhearing to the Fari Debt Collection Practices Act (As amended by Public Law 104-208, 110 Stat. 3009 (Sept. 30, 1996)). If you take the proper steps such as requesting they do not call your place of business and they still do, you should submit a complaint to the CFPB which can be done online at http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/ . The more notifications the CFPB gets on a particular company, the more they will look into the company and may potentially fine neglegent companies in a way that gets their attention to change behavoirs. Dont just complain on a random site, take action.

They keep leaving a automated message that gets cut off in about 2 seconds. I hear the words "we have" and cuts out. I called back and a lady answered. She was looking for my former boss. I told her he doesn't work there anymore. Ok, we have another number for him she says. Been calling back ever since.
