called my neighbor trying to get our phone number

Got a call from 360-566-2640 on my cell phone.  I didn't recognize the number but since it was a local number I answered it.  The young lady (Ashley Smith) stated that she was from a collection firm in San Diego calling about my Citibank Mastercard.  I find it very difficult to understand why these firms can use spoof numbers and call from anywhere.  She gave me another number to call them back on (800-285-3417-ext. 82).

The call from a local number and then give 1-800-285-3147 to call back. They also called my parents for my number which my parents # isn't even listed under his name. They just moved there.

They called my cell phone and left a call back number stating they were "GC Services" and a "Debt Collector". The caller ID number showed 517-306-2723.I do not owe anyone. I called the number they left 800-285-3417 and was routed to "Courtney". Courtney said before she could talk with me she had to verify my birthdate. I refused. I asked her who she represented and said she could not divulge that information without verification. (I remind you I called her back on my cell; the number she called.)She said in order for her to talk to me I had to verify 2 of three items. Birthdate, last four of Social Security, or address. I refused. She said she couldn't talk to me without verification. I politely asked her not to call back.

Called my husband looking for me to get in touch with my mother. Would not give him any info said it was for a personal matter.

They called and said they were a collection agency for a credit card I have. They said I needed to give them money right away and that they needed it today. I gave them some of my info and told them I would call them back tomorrow and make a payment. I started thinking about it and called my credit card company and they said that I should not talk to them because they have their own collection agency and that I wasn't resourced out yet. They didn't understand why they would be calling me either. Thank god I called my credit card company and asked about these people. They didn't know who they were or why they were calling me. Stay away from this company and deal with your own credit card company yourself and call them right away if you receive a call from this company.

This number called myself as well as my brother and sister in law over the past few months. The original call was from a local number 4848231960, and the woman asked for one of my uncles saying "it's a personal business matter". I said that I can't give her his info but she gave me hers.

I told her flat out that my number is unlisted and private so she should not have it. I do not even share my uncle's last name. Yet somehow I am listed as a relative (and not even my cell phone account is in my name, it's in my deceased father's name). I am also on the do not call list. I told her flat out that the call sounded like a scam. I have been told I won't be called again. Otherwise she was polite.

This company just called my mother that I do not live with NOR have listed on any of my credit accounts. It is rather irritating and I will do my best to report their violations of privacy and disclosure of purpose.

A man from this number is repeatedly daily calling my young minor Child.

I got a call from this company, looking for my ex mother in law that I haven't seen in over 20 years! I don't even know where she lives, or if she's still alive. I just want to know how in the hell they got my phone number. I don't have the same last name as her, I've been remarried for years. They said my number was listed as an alternate/message phone for her. This is so bizzare, I can't even wrap my head around it.

I got a call from a 800-285-3417 numbers saying they were from a collections agency and I needed to send them money before they report me to the credit bureau.  I have excellent credit.  I think they are a scam.  Do not give them any personal information

Received a call from a local #. Didn't answer. I called back & spoke with a Barbara Carter. Said trying to reach Lily & I'm listed as a relative. Refused to give a last name for "Lily".  Said it's "GC Services". Asked what it's about. "Personal business matter." Asked what they do. A variety of service, including financial. Collections? Oh, no. She was very polite, but refuse to give me information so I could help her (other collection companies -real ones-do give a last name, etc of the person they're looking for). It's "not the way her company works." Hmmm....  Said she'd take my number off their list.
Received a call a few min later. I'd deleted from caller id, so not sure if it was the same number or one of the others I'd received today (I recognized the number). Answered the call. It was Ashley from "Global Credit service" (I think that's what she said). Sounded like a recording, but may not have been. Trying to reach me....may qualify for a lower credit card rate... I hung up. I called back from caller id. Barbara Carter from GC Services answered again. She claimed that wasn't her company that called me-they don't say that when they call. I assured her it was the same # as I scrolled to the # in caller id & hit 'call'. She said she didn't have my # in her system anymore, so wouldn't be able to call me. She checked other departments & they didn't have my # either. Also, the Lily I know wouldn't even have my number, so how could GC be calling me, looking for her?? Asked for 800# & she gave it to me (so I could look up online): 800-285-3417.
As I was typing  this, I received a call (looked local) from another # I received a call from today. Answered & it again was "Ashley with Credit ? services" (probably the same as the other -not Global). I didn't wait as long this time before hanging up.Called back & just like before (with the same #), it was disconnected. Obviously using spoofing software. So Barbara Carter with GC Services may be right. Maybe.

Clarification: the local "GC Svcs" #614-503-7177. Also same as the Credit C? Svcs call from "Ashley" the 2d time. The 1st & 3rd call I received from Credit C Svcs, Ashley was from 614-268-8354. Both times when I called the 268-8354 # back right afterwards, it was disconnected. Obviously using spoofing software.

Received a call from Ryan Famania, 800-285-3417 ext 196.  Said he needed my daughters number.  Said he had been trying to contact her for some time.  I said if he had her name he had her number.  He said that unfortunately, that is not the way it works.  I asked what it was about.  He said he could not discuss that with me.  I asked how he got my number.  He said he looked up her name and saw her family.  I asked who he was with and he said G.C,Services.  I said I would not give him her number because this was a scam.  He said it was not a scam.  I hung up.  120 complaints closed with BBB in last 3 years | 41 closed in last 12 months.

My cousin, who I dont even have contact of outside of Facebook, received a phone call from a Tamra Bradfute @ GCS asking for me. He didnt have my number to give them thankfully so she left her number 1-800–285 -3417 (ext 265)

If they were able to find that he was related to me and find his number, they should have had no problem contacting me. Shady stuff.

One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them so that they can scare that person into paying extortion money.  They will usually also state information that would be illegal for a real debt collector to state to a third party such as that you are being sued, that you owe money to someone, etc. They threaten that if you do not call them back, they will contact your HR department and tell them that you are a deadbeat who does not pay their bills.  They often call people that have never even been associated with you because they get erroneous information off the internet.
