- James L| 2 repliesWalgreens - reminding me that it's time to refill a RX at the local pharmacy -- no human on the phone -- just an interactive recording --- looks to me like a new way that they have to remind their customers that it's time to refill --- do I want to refill now ?? --- or would I rather contact the local pharmacy on my own ?? -- I indicated that I would call my local pharmacy --- ENDOFNOTE
- Call type: Event reminder
- BeCareful| 2 repliesI received a cal from this number, I called again and was a machine, asking me my personal information. Be carefully with this number Walgreens does not offer this kind of service. I ask my local pharmacy. Don't trust anyone to give ur personal info.
- Caller: Walgreen
- Marianna V.I just recieved one of these calls and talked to my pharmacy. This is a new, free service that Walgreens just started doing this week. They call it "Refill Reminder". You don't have to sign up for it. You will automatically receive a call about 3 days before your medication is set to run out. The call gives you the option of not receiving furture calls by pressing "8" when prompted.
It will ask you to enter your birthdate, but my pharmacist assured me they had to do that due to HIPPA privacy regulations ( don't want others to know what meds you are on). The call gives you the option to refill any medications you should be running out of.
This service is great for me... I can't tell you how many times I have run out of medication because I forgot to refill.- Caller: Walgreens
- Call type: Event reminder
- ScottyThey just called me to remind me too. Only problem is I filled the scrip two days ago. figures.
- Ryan replies to BeCarefulThe number Walgreens pharmacy uses is 800-289-1179. They will ask you to enter your birthdate due to HIPPA regulations, but no other personal informaion. All companies that deal with medical or prescription information have to put privacy validations in place to protect your medical history.
If you talk to your local Walgreens pharmacy, they can find information about the "Refill Reminder" calls in their system. Walgreens just started doing this in late 2011, so some of the staff my not be up to speed on it. - Walgreens Employee| 3 repliesI work for Walgreens Pharmacy as a technician and I can confirm that this is NOT walgreens calling to remind you that you have a prescription due in a few days! There is no such service Walgreens offers. This number called my cell phone as well, and on my profile, i only list my house number, NOT my cell phone number. Consider this a scam!

The crooks have now stooped to giving bogus positive comments on websites like this one in order to try to legitimize their scam. Don't fall for it!- Caller: TOLL FREE
- KateI have been called by this number as well. This is a scam--not associated with ANY walgreens legitimate pharmacy. The "positive" comments on this board are just as fake as the so-called service offered. You can file a comment with the State Attorney General for the State of Georgia. The State Attorneys General collect consumer complaints and then go after the scammers with criminal charges, Posting on boards like this is good, but to be effective consumers need to file the complaints. Criminal charges have to be based off of verifiable evidence not simply anonymous web posts. Beware of Thieves! -- Kate (yes, I'm a lawyer)

- CarltonSorry "Wallgreens Employee", "Bill", and "Kate the Lawyer". It's Walgreens.
- Caller: Walgreens
- KyleIt seems legit. I just called it and it stated which of my prescriptions was due for a refill. I don't see how a scammer could know that. There is also an option to opt out of it if you don't want them calling you anymore.
- Caller: Walgreens

- TazI just got this call and I do not and never have used walgreens for scripts! I only use my local small town good neighbor pharmacy. SCAM
- Leesa K| 2 repliesNot the usual way Walgreens contacts us. Became suspicious when it requested a DOB right off the bat. Called our local Walgreens who indicated they are not aware of the service, we did not have any prescriptions ready, nor did we have anything set up for auto refill. They indicated they would never ask for a DOB. So, I called the Walgreens corporate number (800-925-4733/800-Wal-gree) and they are not aware of this service. They also indicated they would never ask for a DOB. I believe this is a scam. It seems odd that Walgreens would not property notify their employees of a new service. Receiving a call from a number you've not used before which starts out asking for personal information fits a scam. Wouldn't one think that Walgreens would have notified their customers via mail or some other manner to prepare you for such calls? Another legitimate way would be to notify customers to call a number to sign up for such a service.
- Che JonesIt's Walgreens, y'all stop being so paranoid.
- Caller: Walgreens

- Ryan M replies to Leesa K| 1 replyI received a similar call from Walgreens Pharmacy. I wasn't sure at first, so I called their consumer relations number (8009254733). My customer service rep told me it was a "Refill Reminder" call. This is a new service that Walgreens started at the beginning of this year. You don't have to sign up for it and it is different than their calls about prescriptions being ready. You will have to put in your birthdate due to HIPPA privacy standards.
If you are nervous, call customer relations and they can tell you about it. Just ask about "Refill Reminder". - Sandy replies to Walgreens EmployeeThey dont like you there. They do offer this service.
- lindseyI dont understand how they got my number, i dont get my scripts filled at walgreens...
- MattWalgreens refill reminder call. This is a new service from Walgreens that helps their customers refill prescriptions on time. This service actually addresses a large problem in the US with patients not following the medication therapy presribed (missing doses, etc.). This is a great service that should help Walgreens customers to get and stay health.
For those of you who are receiving calls, but don't use Walgreens, you can prevent future calls by listening to the call and pressing "8" when prompted. It appears that Walgreens is using the home phone number they have in their system. Like any good system where people have to enter data, there could be some "fat fingered" data issues.- Caller: Walgreens

- SoonergirlGot calls twice in one day from this number. Called Walgreens and they said it should not have come from an 800 number. Asked them to remove me from the auto refill call list!
