- Tom| 3 repliesI got a something in the mail from AVC Travel regarding a free cruise or travel to Las Vegas. It was from their disbursement division at 2400 W. Pioneer Pkwy, Suite 210, Arlington Texas 76013. This is the 1-800 number they have listed to call. I "googled" AVC Travel and I think the real AVC is at the following website which has a different 1-800 number.

Looks like a scam to me. - BambaThere are many more complaints about this company and their "little blue card" all over the internet. One of the sites is below:

This is a scam, and the fact that such things still exist is disgusting! Apparently, it is a trend, as this is the second time I've been tried in the past month! Given all the current problems in the economy, these sorts of scams are the last problems we need! - Tracysame letter in the mail from 1-800-309-8595 I filed a complaint online with the Forth Worth Texas Better Business Bureau

- DebraGot it in the mail, too. Complete with a boarding voucher & passenger/baggage check cards, gotta give it to 'em they're consistent. On the other hand I for one would like to see them get theirs. On the for real whats up wit that ? Why don't they get regular jobs like the rest of us instead trying to get money from the rest of us who work hard for the money.......
- atascosaroseRecieved the same invitation. I did call the company, and got the bottom of this. It is a time share, they want you to drive through their property at Canyon Lake, New Braunfels, Texas, it is a 90 minute tour. They say they will give you a gas voucher for $40, they say you will be given a scratch ticket that you will scratch to see if you have won the New Mercedes Benz M-Class, BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne-value $49,000 or $40,000 CASH; or the $1500 Shopping Spree at Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstorm, Macy's, Sears or Wal-Mart; or the 5-day/4-night Exotic Island Adventure - $806 value (no air); or $500 cash!. The Exotic Island Adventure you have to pay for your own airfare.
The vouchers are good but you have to fine your own way to Galveston, Texas where the ships leaves out. The Vegas or Orlando trips are good.
I spoke to a Crystal Wilson at the same number. - tikaI got a letter that said I won the his and hers smart cars, a Hybrid Toyota or Lexus SUV plus $5,000 and 2 cruises. Mine says airfare is included. Also I didn't call I was checking it out on line to see what type of company is and to see if this is a scam.
- kbehnschI too recieved a letter. I did follow up on it. This is a Time-share investment. There are things that are a little too "fishy" about them, and I did file a report with the BBB. Here is their website to do so.

- Mrs. X| 7 repliesMy husband has called and the gentleman confirmed that if they dont honor the one of 4/5 gifts that they are sueable by law so we have set up an apptment to go to Lee MA It seems that noone blogging here has actually went to see if it was a scam and there are no "real" complaints of anyone getting robbed so I am going in the beggining of Dec and Will find out for my self . But you shouldnt smear someones name unless you have first hand expirience I know there are alot of scams but as long as you are not giving out any personal info then hey youre good to go>>
- Mrs.XPS we recieved the vouchers and all that in the mail so there was no initaial call
- JaimieeI just received this information in the mail yesterday. It could be posed as a scam, but who actually has given these people their money or personal information? Time shares work on the whole thing of giving trips or gifts to those as long as you go and attend their presentation. No one forces you to say yes to anything. So it is not a scam! You are letting yourself be scammed by doing so. But you should actually get to get the prizes they have claimed you won. So I am scheduled to do a tour and see if they are legit with the prizes. I have no problem telling people no when it comes to buying something. But these time share visits are actually legit when going to them, you can get a free stay at Vegas. It just costs you the length of the presentation.
- ReneYes you can get a free stay, but what they don't tell you is if you don't buy into their time share your reservation "can't be found" and you end up in a sh!tty hotel that you wouldn't even had picked out yourself. Their is a catch to everything my friend...please don't be a fool unless you want a free trip and will pay for your own room when you get there.
- ...Mrs.X and Jaimiee,
If you do end up going on the trip, can you let us know how it goes?
Best of luck! - LorettaThis really is a scam. They are connected with a company in Illinois called Fox River Resorts which makes the same promise and includes a key that might let you open (and win) a free car, just for coming in. My sister and daughters and I went in for the tour. Talk about your high pressure.. showed a nice camping area, exquisite vacation condos, pool, paddle boats, horses, etc. We elected not to join and they went through 3 managers trying to talk us into it. The last lady practically pulled off her face and howled like a demon when we still said no. The key did not win anything but we received vouchers to return for 10 day visits. Only used one. Why?
The pool was dirty, no lifeguard, no changing room between public parking and pool so guest just hopped right in (a teenager started to beat up my 7 yr old daughter because she accidentally splashed him - no one to call for help but faced him down). The paddle boats were all broken, the canoes were missing, and the horses were unsupervised and uncared for (there was a lame one - back leg had birth defect and appeared to be facing backwards) and ALL were saddled to ride. 22 y/o Joe the tour guide who limped first visit with "desert storm shrapnel" was walking just fine when we spotted him a week later.
My sister received a voucher for a free cruise, sent in some preliminary money for "service fee", never received ticket and no one answered the phones anymore at the numbers on the voucher.. they disconnected the phone and po box was shut down a month later. Money lost!!
Trust me!! This is the biggest scam ever.- Caller: Fox River Resorts, AVC Travel
- MarieYour are asking for it.. do not waste your time. It cost much much more than just listening to a 90 minute presentation.. (they don't mention the 1 hr they keep you waiting before your 90 minutes starts). They scam for your personal information, social security number, driver's license #, birthdate and any credit card number to "hold" reservations, etc.
Don't ride that bus to personal fraud identity. There is always something wrong with the reservation, even though you have paid "reservation fees", or airfare, or "service fees" and you end up paying your own room there or put up with the cheapest nastiest motel you ever saw in your life.
Have fun trying to complain or talk to anyone whether before or after the trip. You will never receive any refunds and most times your travel will fall through. I know several people who have experienced this firsthand.
The better business bureau lodges your complaint but has not stopped them and they've been in business at least 10 yrs that I personally know of.- Caller: Fox River Resorts in Illinois
