    Hello Fellows,

I have been harrased by this company in attempt to collect debt which I never thought existed and their story about activity is almost accurate but the dates were off which gave it away they are a fraud.

Basically, I got a call this morning and the the lady was very rude, "we are collecting debt for Bank of America how would you like to pay, credit card or checking account"

I responded, who in their right mind would want to make a payment for a debt which they did not know existed and 2) pay it to you over the PHONE when you not related to bank of america.

She kind of got diffused - really ticked me off cus its Friday morning supposed to be fun - not.

Soooo I gave her a piece of mind.

She said that if the account was closed by bank of america they have no trace of the account. she said our databases are different from theirs.

Sounds fishy as hell right - I told her I want to confirm with bank of america first. She said I have all your account information - do you live at....

I told her, I am not going to answer that question.

All I can say is be careful and don't make any payments you have DOUBT over - over the phone and especially to a non bank.

I will report this buggers as they are harrassing me and its against the law. [/b][/b]

    Thanks,

I have been getting calls and voicemails on my cell from the ER Collection Company for about 6 months, they call 1 to 2 times a day exactly at the same time. They always leave a voicemail. The funny thing is they are looking for somebody else, not me but the people on the other end of the line don't believe that I'm someone different than who they are looking for. LOL give me a break. I have tried hanging up on them many times but they keep calling back. LOL.

    know your rights
NOT TRUE. you do NOT have to advise in writing. ANYONE -not just whoever they are looking for as they may try  to tell you- who picks up the phone can tell the collector that "this is your  warning under the fair credit reporting act that you may not  may not call this number again. should you call this number again, i will be reporting you to the FTC (federal trade commission)."  By law, they are now not allowed to call your number again.  advise them that they can only contact WHOEVER they are looking for by mail only - you do not have to identify yourself or verify that whoever they are looking for is or is not there, give out a #, or address.  they know who they are looking for and it is their responsibility to find out that person's address . answer no questions. just reiterate the statement of advice calmly- remind them they have now been warned and hang up. you can also call back and leave it as a message if they have one and its after hours (for those of you who are afraid or just merely do not want to deal with their harassment directly).  should they call again, please DO call the FTC to file a complaint. it doesn't take long. then, when enough complaints are filed,  the FTC will be able to take action due to the numerous amount of complaints by consumers who report a company  (even by phone# if company name is unknown- FTC can look into that) who is acting in violation of the FCRA.  you do not have to put up with endless telephone  calls.  1-877-FTC-HELP  or www.ftc.gov.

They are calling me at work.  I have requested they not call at work, but they ignore it.  They ask how can they contact me, and I tell them USPS.  She wants to verify address, etc...I will not verify that info over the phone.

Got a call tonight on my cell phone while I was at work. I went ahead and hit the answer button but did not respond. A male voice kept saying "hello, hello, hello, hello" over and over. I hung up without saying anything. Then just for grins and giggles I called the same number back about literally a minute later and a woman answers. She just says a rude and tired sounding "hello?" without identifying herself or her "business" or organization. That right there tells me that this is something shady and bogus. A real financial/credit institution or bank would say something like "Citibank, this is Jim - how can I help you?" or Acme Credit Reporting, this is Jane" or something such as that.

    The "L" Word
You can also report them to your state's consumer protection board/agency. That ended my calls QUICKLY. Type in your state's name and the word "CONSUMER". Most states allow you to file your complaint online.

When I answered a recording came on and said something like, "Please hold, this call is for Pamela K. Brown.  If this is Pamela K. Brown, enter 1; if Pamela is not available, enter 2; if Pamela does not live here, press 3."  I pressed 3 b/c I've never heard of Pamela K. Brown, and the recording said, "Please hold to update our information."  I hung up.  That's odd because there's never been anyone at this number by the name of Pamela K. Brown.

They called me like half an hour ago, and i let it go to voicemail because i thought it was another one of those "the factory warranty on your vehicle has expired..." but turned out to be this, and the lady had an English accent telling me that they are collecting debt. They didnt specify debt from which bank, or anything else, all they really could do was mispronounce my last name.

is there anything that we can do about this?

keep gettin calls from them over a bank of america account. Just sent them a letter stating they have violated the fdcpa by not telling me i had the right to dispute the debt. If it is not dropped i will be looking into taking further action against them.

They called a rollover number to my business. I know the call is not for us so we ignore it and let it go into voicemail.

People calling on behalf of BofA collecting a debt.  Only reason I know this is because they are the only company that I gave this particular number to and didn't notify when I changed it.

My story is'nt much different than all of yours it's a pain the [***] especially when you don't normally get 800 calls to your phone that repetitiously..we've hung up and called back and were told we were calling switch a switch board we replied "a switch board for what company?" the lady on the phone said "well there's alot of business's here..."there's a cafeteria uhh there's alot of business's here" " WOW a cafeteria!" we replied and then "CLICK" she met "tone"  "DIAL TONE" LOL it's time to make a complaint..there's no need to be deceptive or evasive when asking what company they are calling on behalf of.
