- ac| 1 replyI got call saying it was Sears Account fraud, I did not give my account number and he asked for a password. I made up a number and knew he was a fraud when he asked me what that number meant to me. He said he was closing my account and sending me an affidavit of fraud. I then called Citibank and the person could not verify that there was any fraud on my account. Do not call this number back
- careful person| 3 repliesI recieved a message on my cell phone, a female voice told me she was with Sear Fraud Department calling about some recent activity on my Sears account. To call this number between 7 AM and 11 PM and to have my account number available. I found this very strange, called the number on my cell phone and the recording for "this number has been disconnected" came on. Call came in on a Friday night at 8:46PM.
- Caller: Female from Sear Fraud Dept
- JimIt's real... I called the number on the back of the sears card Sears to verify and they gave me the same number and transferred me...
- kguzThis is a legitimate number - I referenced and cross referenced through Sear's corporate office - it is the real thing.
- SkippyThis is a real number. It's a fraud detection department for Citi Sears. I work for First Data (third party credit processing company) and deal with Citi Sears cobranded cards all day long.
- JessicaThis is a legitimate number. If you call the phone number on the back of your Sears card you get Customer Service. They will then verify the phone number given & will transfer you to Sears Fraud Early Warning.
- Beatrice ReilReceived a message on my answering machine. The woman said she was calling from Sears Fraud Early Warning Department. Said that an attempt had been made to place a large charge on the Sears Master Card of my husband. Please call 1-800-335-1517 between the hours of 7 AM and 11 PM and to have the account number ready when returning the call. I do not have a Sears Master Card, and my husband has been deceased for nearly 20 years. I called the 800 number, and a man, who would not give his name, asked for my husband's social security number(which I did not give).
- SueTwo different people called. Said they were from Sears Fraud Department. I didn't call them back, I called the number on my Sears bill. They immediately gave me the Fraud Department. They said somebody hacked into the computer system of a company where I had used my Sears card. Sears was afraid they had gotten some of my personal information, so they are issuing me a new card. It would appear, that whoever is calling with the 800-335-1517 number, are the people that hacked into the computer.
- JimI also received a call from 800-335-1517. I was suspicous, so I looked up Sears customer service number (800-917-7700) and asked them to verify if the call I got really was the number of their Fraud Early Warning Department. They did confirm it was their number and put me through to talk to one of their people. It turned out sombody set up a bogus Sears account using my personal information and they were calling to warn me. These folks were very professional and very helpful. The number is legit.

- Bill LReceived a call from 1-800-917-7700 on my home phone (area code 972 - Texas) asking for Mrs. Johnson. I informed the female caller that she had a wrong number. She apologized and hung up. Not 2 minutes later I received a call from 1-800-917-7700 on my cell phone (area code 404 - Georgia) asking for Mrs. Johnson. I informed the same lady caller that she once again had a wrong number and told her she had just called me twice on two different phone numbers in two different area codes asking for the same person. She once again apologized profusely and hung up. What gives here? I am just a bit concerned since I have a Sears (Citi) Charge Card. No information was asked for and none was given. Need I be worried?
- Caller: Sears (thou never IDd as such)
- PaulaI called the Sears number from the back of my card and was transferred to the Fraud Dept. They gave me the number 1-800-335-1517 as their direct line, so it is legit.
- Caller: Sears
- Tom GI also received a message from 1-800-335-1517. Instead of calling it back I called the number on the back of my Master Card. It was legit. They said one of the retailers where I used my card had been compromised and asked me to cancel my card and they would issue a new one in 7 to 10 days.
- Caller: Sears Master Card
- DavidWe had a message from this number on our answering machine yesterday. Very difficult to understand but like other posters have said, it was Sears calling to discuss a large purchase and to call 1-800-335-1517 between the hours of 7 AM and 11 PM and to have the account number ready when returning the call. No need to return the call as it was clearly a phishing scam -- we've never had a Sears credit card and rarely, if ever, shop there.
- Caller: Sears (allegedly)
- John PShe said her name was Emily. Operatir 8BH. Stated that someone with my name opened a Sears account and was approved for $250 and tried to make purchases at KMart. I asked "How can you make purchases at KMart with a Sears card?". She said she could not give me details. I refused to give any more inf. She told me to go to any Sears or Kmart and ask for help at the Serivce desk. She refused to let me talk to the manager, give me the account number or expiration date.

- SEARS FRAUD REPThis is a legit number!! To all you ignorant posters, get your head out of the sand!!! If you say you never had a Sears account and you get a call about an account in your name, you're probably a victim of identity theft -- check your credit report!!! This is a legit number and the reps on the other side of the phone are there to help *you*!!! Don't be so stubborn and ignorant!!!! There is so much fraud and ID theft these days that most of you couldn't even wrap your tiny brains around it!!
- Caller: CITI FOR SEARS FRAUD
- Concerned CitizenI'm skeptical about trusting people in this format, but I'd recommend doing what I did. We got a similar call from this number about a fraud charge. We didn't want to give them any personal info beyond a phone number and ended up calling the number Sears has listed for lost or stolen cards. They verified the fraudulent charges and took appropriate action. Always confirm the callback numbers either online or by calling the numbers on the back of your card.
- Caller: Sears
- ErnyThis is a fraud phishing call attempting to get information with a nonsense faraud alert
