Received a call today from this unknown number to me, and found out it was from a company called Progressive Financial Services.  Have no idea who they are, what they want, but they didn't leave a message, so poo poo on them!

Progressive Financial is a debt collector.  While switching cell phone service providers, my new phone had a different, new number for half a day during the porting process.  Apparently, that number is the old but not old enough number of someone who owes money, and I got two calls from Progressive Financial, which went to v-mail (since I was on another real call when it came in the first time, and because I ignored it on the second call later in the day).

The messages left were prerecorded messages announcing that they were calls in an attempt to collect a debt, and included a text-to-speech rendering of the customer's name in the middle of the recorded announcements.

Watch out. This is an identity theft scam. Progressive Financial is a bogus collection agency trying to steal your financial info so they can empty your bank accounts. Don't - DON'T - respond to these As*****s!!

They are also using the phone number 602-453-8901

We have gotten several calls from this number.  They are looking for my husbands father which past away 10 years ago.

They said they were attempting to collect about $600 for an unpaid traffic ticket from 1990 in the city of Phoenix.  It wasn't even me they were looking for, but somehow they thought it was.

Calls on a IP line we use for calling out.  Never answer, so incoming calls go to v-mail.  The automated caller apparently starts when v-mail answers so there is no way to tell who they are calling.... v-mail gets just get the last bit of their speal with the 800-347-1631.  At least 4 calls in last 7 days.

Progressive Financial just keeps calling and calling and calling . . .

How did you find out that this was a scam?

ya it's a debt collection agency 1-800-347-1631 I just don't answer if it's not a local number. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message

please helpme they have sent me the same scam 600.00 dollar ticket from phoenix from 1990 how did you get rid of them? did they put it on your credit?

calls from 800-347-1631 and 602-453-8901 and 888-666-2291.and 877-796-2554  Calls several times a day, every day, always even though they ask for people I don't know and obviously dont live with me.  The scam is that your information gets passed around like it's public and that people can get a hold of it to do stuff like this at all.  Debt collection agencies can and will continue to use harassment tactics as long as they are allowed.

We got a bill from them for a 21 year old ticket my husband received in Phoenix back in 89.  DH had gone to court and had paid it.  But 21 years later we don't have proof of that, now what?

comes in as a toll free number they never leave a message have had 4 calls today averages about 2 a day even sundays been going on for last few months really gettin pissed

I have begun to harrass them. Tit for tat. I just dial the number one time and put the phone down. Next time I use redial and set the phone down. Of course they know who it's comng from, it's an 800 number so they can see who's calling. Every time I hear from them, I give them six calls. Minimal effort for me but an irritating time waster for them. I'm investigating software to have my computer call them 24/7.  One more thing, I don't know the person they are calling for and I will not reward their slimy behavior by calling to tell them that the person doesn't live here.

Can I motivate some of you to start tormenting them too?

First off, a month ago I receive a letter from a collection agency for a $6500 student loan with my address but the name of a person I never heard of. I toss it. Now I start getting calls from this number on my Verizon cell phone which NEVER gives out anyone's number. Apparently the Dept of Education uses Progressive to collect unpaid student loans (look it up). So from what I gather, Progressive somehow found out my cell phone number by searching my address. What I would like to know is how someone took out a student loan using my address? BTW, I`ve lived at the same address for 5 years with the same cell phone number too!

They call me every day. I just called them three times from work, and they called back and didn't say anything. I think I will keep it up! LOL...

The first thing they ask when they pick up is for your social security number. If you say no, they hang up on you. I called back and said I had a question. She said okay. I asked if they would like to have a harassment charge filed on them, as well as shut down their scamming business. She asked for the number I was calling about and said she would take me off the list. (Collectors do not ask for social security numbers, nor do they take you off a "call list"). We'll see if they continue to harrass me. My guess is yes. They are looking for victims for ID theft...don't be one.
