800-366-1962

Got a call today from (800) 366-1962 on my mobile.  Did not answer. Did not return the call.

It's Chase fraud prevention.

I got similar call how do you know its chase, its an automated voice asking for account details with no chance to talk to a human. Chase fraud division has no refrence to this number

After receiving a message from this number I contacted Chase Fraud division on my own. They have NO reference to this number and have started an investigation as to who it belongs to.

yep. same thing. we have a business card with a dot-com name, and the voice recognition system called it "_period.com" so that was odd.

has anyone had fraud after receiving these calls?

I've received a call from this number today (Oct 4, 2010). The recorded message says it is from "Chase online Fraud Dept." I received the same call two months ago.  I checked with Chase, and there was no record of this number in their security dept.

Will rather contact the bank then calling back unknown number.
Appears to be scam.

Received two missed calls and one voicemail from 800-366-1962, this afternoon.  Automated voice message said it was Chase Fraud Protection.

I called Chase immediately (via the number on the back of my card) and they are not associated with this number.

SCAM!

Just got two calls from this number today too.. everything AD said above goes for me.

I actually called it back and then entered in the code they wanted, it put me on "hold" and i waited a minute while I looked up this thread.. just hung up.  The same robot voice that left the automated message was reached when calling the 800 366 1962 number back...

Fraud.  Just called Chase and they said they've gotten a number of calls about this number being back in action.  From the forum posts, it looks like they took a couple of years to come back.  I gave them the 800 number and they said they'd forward it over to their security department.

Got a call from 1-800-366-1962 chase fraud and after several attempts of them trying to get my account number debit card number nd pin number I told her I wasn't giving that over the phone.  Went up to a branch and there was no fraud on the account and that number is not chase fraud department

I missed 2 calls from this number today. The voice mail left almost fooled me because the automated message did state my full name. I called the phone number on the back of my Chase card, and the security department confirmed there was no suspicious activity on my account, nor were there any official attempts to contact me today. They also confirmed that this number is NOT a Chase number.

Got two missed calls from an "Unknown Number" this morning + a voicemail.  Voicemail was an automated message stating my full name and claiming to be Chase Fraud Protection.  Was instructed to call the 800-366-1962 number and use a reference number stated in the voicemail.  Have yet to call Chase directly, but already sounds sketchy to me!

Got an automated call from the same number today. I guess scam is back?!

Yes it is, scam is back.  Called Chase, reported to their fraud department.  DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a SCAM.. the caller is fake. Just collecting your Info.
The real CHASE has no knowledge of this.

I received call from this # 800-366-1962 3 times today, I did not answer. the last time, got a voice messag which is from a machine. So I checked this number on internet and found this thread. So this is scam.

This is definitely NOT a scam.  The phone number 1-800-366-1962 is the direct line to the Operating Loss Prevention Department (Fraud Prevention) for CHASE.  I was VERY doubtful at first and convinced it was a scam, so I called the phone number on the back of my CHASE debit card.  Upon doing so, I spoke with a Chase rep and asked them to connect me to the Fraud Prevention Department, which they did.  Then I asked them if 1-800-366-1962 is affiliated with Chase and they said yes, with the Fraud Prevention Department.  At first they didn't know why I was calling because everything on my account seemed fine, but then I gave them the reference number (that was left on my voicemail from 1-800-366-1962) and they realized it was regarding my business account. The previous day I had made a large transfer of money to a different bank, and they wanted to confirm that it was really me doing that. If I hadn't called them, the transfer would not have gone through. I told Chase they need to change their voicemail to instruct customers to simply call the phone number on the back of their Chase card!  Because today, it's WAY to shady to call some strange number that left you an automated message, and then start doling out personal information!!  But yes, 1-800-366-1962 IS for sure affiliated with Chase's Fraud Prevention Department.

That phone number is not a scam.  Check out my post.  You can't believe everything you read on internet threads... I did my investigation and it was in fact Chase.

It is a huge scam! I got a phone call from this same number. they asked me for last 8 digits of my debit card for personal verification purposes. Then they asked me for my Pin number. That was the red flag. I hung up and called Chase. They didn't have any records of anybody calling me from Fraud Prevention. In fact, they told me to NEVER give information unless it was me making the all. They wouldn't call you, but tell you to call. I also found out the first half of your card digits are easy to find. That's why they only asked for the last 8.
Most importantly, Chase told me that scammers have software to have whichever number they want to appear on your Caller ID. Chase does indeed have a similar Customer Service number (almost the same). But that doesn't mean that they made the call. Scammers are getting very sophisticated. Be careful!
