- JimCall saying from BOA asking for SS#
- Caller: Did not say
- Call type: Event reminder
- Mark| 3 repliesI called BOA and they said that they did NOT need to contact me, NOR did they recognize that as a BOA number. Do not call this number.
- Caller: Claimed to be BOA
- S.S.| 1 replyIt was a legitimate call from B of A Auto collections. But I was skeptical when they asked for my SS number...so I called number on my loan account and found out they were having a problem with payments made over the internet. Got it resolved.
- former boa collector| 7 repliesThe phone number: 1(800)386-4017 is aboslutely a valid number, however the number will come up as unknown or blinked on your caller ID. I worked w bank of america for nearly two years and can assure you the number is legit. The only reason one would get a call from this dept is a delinquent auto loan. An auto can be for a car, truck, motorcycle, rv, trailer, or even airplane. Often people don't understand that the bank will buy loans in bulk at a discount and the orginal lender will no longer service the account. Bank of america does this often and regularly without the debtors knowledge. Then one day you become past due on your account and someone like myself will be calling from bank of america attempting to collect on your account. The requirement of the collections dept to verify your SS#, full name and address are manditory as per the rules and regulations of the dept. Just speak w the person on the other end and let them know the truth, if you simply forgot then tell them and make your payment. If you can't pay then there may be assistance available to you due to your financial hardship. Thanks for reading this. By the way I was fired from bank of America is december of 2009: so [***] bank of america!! I now bank w a local credit union and recieve much greater benefits there. :)

- raine1200800-386-4017Bank of America. Yes real they are calling to remind me I am late on a car payment. Yes real, If you get this number calling you. Call the bank immediately. Talk to them and ythey will help you out. Or if you know what you are doing, you can make a payment on phone for no extra charge. If you must talk to a person and make payment they will charge 15$. Good luck all..

- t cookewho is it calling me?
- Caller: do not know
- mmmmnaThis number calls my cellphone, their id is blank, they did not answer when I picked up the first call. I slept through their second call and they did not leave a voicemail message. Since I do not know who the caller is, that will not be entered.
- mmmmna replies to former boa collector| 1 replyHundreds, maybe thousands of identity theft prevention discussions are clear about this: DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR SS# TO UNFAMILIAR CALLERS!! Just because they say the words "Bank of America" means nothing: I can call any random number and state I am calling from anywhere. Tell the caller you will research the issue and thank them for their call. Next, do your homework, determine which accounts are past due, and then call the numbers which you already got from the lender, in their paperwork, on the credit card, anything other than a random caller (whom you came here to research since you did not recognize their number).
- IndigoNo message
- I don't believe you replies to former boa collectorI don't believe you. No legit B of A caller would immediately ask for your SS#, or ask you to type it into a phone system immediately. The recording from B of A sounds phony. You are probably one of the crooks, trying to get people to fall for this scam. Good try; however you should probably liimit your fraudulent calls to people who actually have B of A accounts. DO NOT EVER GIVE ANYONE YOUR SS# OVER THE PHONE.
- Shelly L. replies to former boa collectorI disagree with you on this situation... I get a phone call and voice mail from this number everyday. I do not and have not had an account with Bank of America for an auto loan. I called the number and the first thing they ask is for SS # and or account # thru automation. The recording voice does not match any of the other on line BOA phone number recordings, and I finally hit 0 enough to get a live person. They barely spoke English, they were extremely rude when I called them out on what their business was with me, they told me to go to the BOA website and see that the number was legit and it WAS NOT. I called BOA and they sent this info to the Fraud department, Like some of the other people posted, legit or not, NEVER GIVE YOUR SS# or account # without verifying who they are. most businesses ask for the last 4 digits of SS#, never the full #.
- e.ecalls daily no one talks
- ValMI've been getting calls from this number for over a month now. They call at different hours of the day and never leave a message. I answered one time and they told me it was Bank of America regarding my account. They instructed me to call a separate number (I didn't write it down), give them my SS# and then she hung up.
- Tally GlennCaller said he was from Bank of America calling about my truck loan. He asked me to give him my address so he knew he was talking to the right person. I said you called me, you should have that information. He again said he had to confirm he was talking to the right person. He tried to make me comfortable by giving me his 800 number to call back on. He made it sound like there was a problem with my loan, I knew there was not. I really thought he was trying to sell me an extended warranty or something like that. I called BOA, they checked all my accounts and that there was no reason for BOA to call me, and if so they would never called me and then asked me to confirm anything. Of course if you call them you have to confirm who you are, but you called them.
- Caller: Claimed Bank of America
- VictorI just got off the phone with BoA. As mentioned above, it IS a legitimate BoA collections phone #. Rest assured that your credit is not currently destroyed by giving information (if you did) to the wrong person ;-)

- kmI've received calls from this number since yesterday but haven't answered because I also don't answer numbers I don't recognize and they never left a message, so I can't say who it was. So I came here and after reading some comments regarding delinquent auto loans I decided to check my BoA car loan account online, and there was indeed a past due amount because I'd forgotten to increase my auto payment. So I'm thinking the number might be legit. If so I wish they would email as well as call. They could resolve matters more quickly seeing as how so many people are suspicious of strange phone numbers.
- cggot a call from this number as others have, asked for me by name and said they were calling about a vehicle... but then wouldn't continue call until I could provide them info about me. I said no and they tried the "let me give you my number and you can call me" routine. I declined that as well. I did recently purchase a car, but I thought my loan was with BMW financing. I hadn't received my first bill and was wondering when I would get it. Called BMW and they didn't have record of my loan. Then called BofA via contact number from their website (different number), and in fact it was my car loan and it was overdue. So the issue was resolved. In summary it is a legit number/call, however their phone approach goes against everything that a legit company should do. I would not recommend that you engage anyone who calls out of the blue wanting you to ID yourself before they tell you anything. HOWEVER, I do recommend that you go to the BofA website and call their auto loan number and check on it. Could save you some past due fees etc...
- Caller: Bank of America
- ValerieYes, actual banks that you deal with will ask you for your social. Never give it out over the phone though unless you initiate the call and you are calling the bank from the number listed on your bankcard (debit or credit). Call them back and deal with them directly. Never give out your information to people who randomly are calling you. No matter how legit they sound. That is their job.... to sound legit. To fool people out of money. I keep getting emails from Bank of America claiming there is a problem with my account. I haven't had an account with them for over ten years! But the emails look very real to someone not used to dealing with scum. Be careful and protect yourself.
- AngryWomenGot a called and he was asking for my husband, I said he is not in. We got some information days before earthlink got hacked and we received some interesting emails and phonecalls since than...so please be careful with this number and emails with an .in ending
