I got a phone message telling me to call the number because of some security issue. I called HSBC Customer Service directly and they confirmed the phone call I received was a valid security call.

I got a call from 831-755-6699. As always I did not pick up the call since I did not know the number. I got a voicemail asking me to call 1-800-395-7555 which the lady said is the HSBC Security Department. I called up the number and they asked me personal details like my social security number. I was suspicious and told them I'll call them back. Then I looked up the number for HSBC on the HSBC website (hsbc.com). I got this number 1-800-975-HSBC(4722). I called them up and it took a long time to reach the security department. They did confirm that they did try to contact me and 1-800-395-7555 is their number. They did not however know that 831-755-6699 is their number and they could not confirm that it is theirs. They asked me a lot of security questions to confirm my identity. They said someone tried to change the address on my account and they will cancel my old card (which I havent received yet. I applied for the HSBC credit card only this month) and issue me a new one. From my experience, I would not pick up the call from 831-755-6699. I feel its better to call the number on the HSBC website or the number on the back of the credit card. That may delay the call time but I guess its much safer.

Called and left with son with a message to CB ph# 800-395-7555 and gave a Ref# that it concerns credit card fraud...

It is HSBC - but it would be nice if when you called the number it identified themselves as more than "Card Services"

I also received a call from 1-800-395-7555 over the holiday weekend and was informed that their servers were "hacked" and that credit card accounts were stollen. I called back and it was a legitmate call. When I call such places back, and they ask for my Security Word, I always ask them to provide me with the first letter....little trick to know if they actually have the code or are looking for the word.

Same story as everyone else.

It's HSBC, (whomever they are).

The agent dialed my number incorrectly.

Seems to be a credit card safety thing,

Website, e-mail, resume', etc., will be given to any living human who is really a legitimate employer.  Minimum wage and 40 hours 9-to-5 will be fine.  Two degrees, born in the USA, speaks English clearly, etc.

I got a call from some number and asked me to call this number for some security verification.

When I called on the number, some lady answered my phone call and I provided the reference number, she told me that the call was not for me.

They were supposed to call another guy.. by mistake they called me it seems.

I did receive a phone call from this number and they gave me a ref #. I returned the call using the credit card that I had issued by them. I wen throught the customer service area. Since the card was a new account they did verify that I was the one who opened the account. I

anyone ever get a phone call from 7006 unknown name?  I gopt a call from them and they advised me to call800-395-7555.  I have never seen a 4 digit phone number.

I got a call today from 16804 with a voicemail saying to call back the HSBC 800-395-7555

I received a number of 6919 on april 12, 2011 to return number to 800-395-7555. The message left I had to relisten over to understand 6 times and the main thing I got from it had something to do with a employee of mine using my info on a credit card. I asked what this was all about and the only info he would give me what they are a card service company. He asked me twice my acct number and my phone number. I refused any info. He informed me well you may continue to receive calls and my reponse was go for it and I would go to the next level legal action. I hung up and called my employee to give her a update. all this is is probably a company hired by hsbc to montor credit cards  that people have applied for and once in there possesion they dont use the card in a timely matter and it flags the account. after charges are applied. My employee did use the card yesterday.I am guessed hsbc is confronted with so much fraud that this other was hired to protect there assets. Ok its all good but I coulded understand the man and was very shady on the questions I asked.This company needs to retrain there employees to be more bed side savy..Based over all never give any info if they are not responding to any info who they are

Called my cell phone I pay by minute. As for my acc no I do not have.

Claimed to be with capital one. Wanted me to verify last 4 of my social security number. I refused to answer, as I do not have a capital one credit card. (unless they bought someone.) The operator refused to tell me who the vendor was (i.e. best buy, etc.)
Hung up without providing information.

Looks like a fraud - be leary of the shills claiming they received a valid call - why would anybody write up a report on a call they thought was valid?

said it was a fraud alert from capital one and when I called it was automated and tried to sell me something. I finally called other numbers that were fraud numbers from that company and they said it was legit and had question on acct but I still am very skeptical of whats going on with this company and all the info it was requesting

HSBC (GM MasterCard) was bought out by Capital One.

There is no call type on the drop down for this. My husband used the card on a flight to Los Angeles, and at a restaurant after arriving. They were checking to make sure that there was no fraud involved, which there wasn't. Very much appreciated service.
