This number is, in fact, a phone number for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. I know this as it is the number I received from their attorney in my foreclosure proceeding. It is possible the number is an internal number rather than a general customer service number and, thus, would not be listed on their website with the standard contact information.

someone pasted this on a sheet of paper and place it on my front door,, with just the words urgent urgente to call it,,, if this is the best way to communicate with someone, why do we need AT&T and if in fact this may be well fargo,  number, I can Clearly understand why the us goverment had to help them with a bail out in tax dollars

Wells Fargo (or MCS who solicits people for housing and home loan assistance).  An inspector may stop by your house to see if you are still living there or if the property is vacant.  If your house gets posted MCS or WF will attempt to "help you" with posting a letter on your house that says the house has been vacant or abandoned and reported to the mortgage servicer and what the servicer intends to do.  Then they give you a number to call and a reference "IN#" number, to reference for their services.

We do not nor have we ever had a Wells Fargo Mortgage. When I returned the phone call, they wanted my social security number and to set up an online payment, for a "past due" mortgage. I called our real mortgage lender, knowing full well our payments were always early, and we in fact were not past due. This is a scam!

It's a scam. They've left notes and calls for us several times, and our mortgage has been paid off for almost twenty years.

I'm becoming sure that this is a scam. They left a note taped to my door yesterday while I was in the shower. My dog was barking her fool head off so I knew someone was here. I jumped out and threw on my PJs and got to the door only to see a small red car driving off of my yard! If was truly was WF, they should investigate this. But when I tried talking to someone at this # (I also used *67 to block my #), they stated that their "skilled" personnel would "never" to something like this. BS!

I know for a fact now that this is a scam. I talked to the WF fraud dept and they the # used to belong to them, but was fazed out several years ago. So the best bet if you get one of these notices or a call from this #, call your mortgage company right away and let them know that there is someone out there scamming people in their name.

Just received a call from this number and they stated they are Wells Fargo, and that the house payment is late for my son's home, and he is military and I pay his bills while he is a way.  Is this a scam and if it is what do i do?

Call WF from a # off their website, tell them what has happened.

Received the "confidential" letter with a torn piece of paper to call our mortgage lender right away. (800.416.1472) There was no bank or other identifier on the torn slip of paper.
As mentioned by others the number is answered by WELLS FARGO.

Yes our mortgage is late however we respond to every call (over 5 a day sometimes) and have have received numerous letters from our lender. (Wells Fargo)

Just saddens us to know they create, condone and continue such low class tactics.  There must be a law they are skirting by using the "we know where you live" approach.  Tacky all the way around.  

Funny when we knew difficulties were coming and reached out to them in an effort to work with them, we were given a full year of paper chase, many different customer service reps claiming our paperwork was never received.  Fact is we sent the docs signature required 9 times and received signature on each send.

Yeah, they want to create a warm fuzzy marketing pitch but kick you when your down.  We know our post will do nothing however nice to put it in print..........

i just got one of these today and don't really know what to do.  we're pretty behind, but don't have the funds and previously they have sent letters and called, but never have they done this before.  are we looking at true foreclosure?  from what you guys are saying, maybe not, but still it's terrifying!  (especially since we just put the last of our money on the water bill, and the car to keep it from being repossessed...)

This is not WF, if you have a first and a second this may be WF's "Partner" or could be a scam by someone/company that has the ability to know when your late on payments.  We are late and have had them leave an envelope on the door.  The content is a simple piece of paper with a note that "please contact your mortgage servicer immediately at 800-416-1472.  When you call they immediately ask for confidential information.  When you push back and refuse they still try to make you think it's WF but will give you the real WF number if you persist and say you can call them on...  WF confirmed with us that it is not them but would not share any other info.  We have the delivery and process on our CCTV system.  The data includes the delivery guy, his car, plate number and his actions.  His actions includes taking photos of the front of the house while walking up, taking a photo of the back of the envelope (there is a hand written 3 digit number on the back), and then taking a photo of the envelope on the door.  This is to verify he delivered it I am sure.  The most uncomfortable thing about the whole process is he was looking in our windows before leaving.   it is hard to tell but he may have been taking photos through the windows.  In any case it's on us for being late paying but so unethical.

A man came to my house and left me a note with this number on it, urging me to call the number within 24 hours to avoid foreclosure on my home.

I called, and while the person on the other end of the phone CLAIMED to be from Wells-Fargo, I am convinced that this is a scam. I don't have a mortgage with Wells-Fargo (though I do have one with another bank) and he wanted my account number and SSN even though I do not deal with that bank. I don't want to give out that information, and I wish I hadn't given my name because he used my name over and over again in the conversation. It was kind of creepy. I think this is one of those places that preys on unsuspecting people and gets them to give out information because they are afraid something went wrong with their home loan.

Be very, very careful when calling this number, or accepting calls from it. If it is legitimate, then some poor person who should have received the note that was given to me just had their home foreclosed upon for not calling within 24 hours. It's either a scam or a very, very shoddy mortgage company that doesn't even know what properties they mortgage!

A note was left with this number, saying to contact our mortgage servicer immediately. Not on any company letterhead, looks like someone printed it on their home printer. Our mortgage provider would not be this unprofessional. I had been home all day, and in the 20 minutes I was gone to pick up my daughter from school this note appeared. From reading previous entries, it bothers me that these people were snooping in my windows.

My stories the same, even had someone trying to get in and take pictures , loss lots of money, hurt a lot of tress with all this repeated paper and certified mail they ran up my bill doing all of that.Yeah we are late due to a illness and job loss and nobody cares not even HUD.scam don't call the number not even salvation law group scam.

Received a homemade door holder envelope with Urgent Notice Please contact your mortgage servicer at 800-416-1472. I did not call I felt this was a scam because the woman was acting strange as I was peeking out the window I saw her looking around and my dog that was outside jumped the fence and barked at her. If my mortgage company needs to get a hold of me it is my a mailed letter not a note on the door!!!
