This company has left several phone messages. They ask for me by my first name, they do not identify what company they are calling from, or the name of the person calling, only an extension and a "file number". When I call back, they answer the phone "GC Services", ask for my name, but won't even take the file number they told me to refer to....they want either my birthdate or last four digits of my SS#...neither of which I would give them. Then they say they can't tell me anything unless I verify who I am by one of those identifiers. When I ask what kind of a company they are, they refuse to tell me.

they cant tell you anything it is a federal law but nothing to worrie about just call and talk to them

They call stating that my friend gave my name as a reference. I am thinking it is for a job until the want me to verify her address? I stopped the conversation right there. I asked what this is in reference and the person would not answered. He then asked me to give my friend a message to call them. Ok...yo

u are calling for a reference but you don't have a way to contact the person who you state requested me to give the reference. Clearly a bill collector and clearly shady practices.

yup they called and told my friend the same thing. They are a debit collection agency.
