Caller said he was from Dell.  Wanted to tell me about error problems in my computer and have me allow him to fix it by remote method. When I asked him just to send information via U.S. Mail he abruptly hung up.

It appears in my phone records these people 800-425-0088 is hacking my phone line. You may like to check the records of your phone service. They appear to be using my phone line and use it to place phone adds to other people in the country. If they asked your DOB they may try to hack some other important information besides your phone line. Check the calls you have placed. May appear you have been calling 800-425-0088.

This is one of the many scams against Americans being committed by foreign countries. In the past, they would pretend to be from Microsoft. Today, I got a call from something that sounded Indian or Pakistani who claimed to be from Dell.

Remember that these calls are generated at random. No one called your specific number, and they many have your name from public directories.

Normally, I play along with these lowlifes to waste their time and prevent them from knowing anything about me. Here is how today's call went:
Scum:  Hi, this is dumb wench calling from Dell looking for Jack
Me:  What can I do for you? (Notice I never acknowledge who I am. Tell them NOTHING. Never answer "yes")
Scum:  We have noticed errors coming from your computer over the past few weeks and we need to help you so that you do not become infected by malware.
    Me:  Which computer?
    Scum:  Your desktop computer.
Me:  So what about my desktop computer?
Scum:  Sir, we notice errors coming from your computer. Have you downloaded any software lately?
Me:  Why do you want this information?  (Note:  this works great for any telemarketer fishing for information. DON'T GIVE THEM ANY. Always ask "why do you want this.")
Me:  Sir, we are trying to prevent dangerous malware that could infect your computer.
    Me:  Which computer?
Scum:  Your Dell Inspiron, model (made up sequence of letters and numbers)
Me:  I got rid of that computer two months ago.
Scum:  Oh, well thank you for your time.

Now, I could have strung this dumb Indian wench along for a long time, but I decided to cut her off by stating I no longer had that computer. I have had these jerks on the phone for 1/2 an hour, pretending to need their help before disclosing I had a Mac. That usually causes them to lose their temper, at which I remind them that they live in a dump hole of a country, and outside of scams, are otherwise useless pieces of garbage. This will not stop the calls, but it does feel good. I also tell them to go "blank" themselves.

Another time I had them on speaker phone, pretending to follow their instructions while cooking dinner. When I was ready to eat, I told the third worlder "Let me tell you who I am and what I do. I worked for (name any US Intelligence Agency) in the office of cyber security and this entire conversation has been monitored and tracked. I have already uploaded your exact coordinates to our rapid deployment surveillance team in Virginia and requested a real time drone strike against your position. Have a nice day."

That moron could not have gotten off the phone fast enough as he ran for the hills!

    Key points:
    1)  These callers are crooks outside of the US. American laws do not apply. The do-not-call list does not work. The government will do nothing to stop them
    2)  You are called at random. Blocking their number is ineffective because the caller ID is spoofed
    3)  You can NEVER stop the calls. Your only recourse is to make calling you as unpleasant an experience as possible. Waste their time, insult them, lie, cheat, do anything. They can do nothing to you. Politeness is for victims. Don't be one.
    4)  The time you waste of theirs gives them less time to prey on others. Do that enough and they cannot make money.
    5)  Don't feel sorry for the "plight" of the poor foreigner just trying to earn a living. Their condition is not your problem. These are crooks, not people to feels sorry about. If they scanned your grandmother out of her money, would you still be so forgiving?

They definitely are doing something wrong. They are calling me with the same reported malware on a system that I shipped back to Dell. I usually ask them how that computer is doing since I sent it back in and where in the world it is getting power and internet from when it is most likely been gutted and reparted, after I wiped the drive.

An "Edward Young" called my cell, stating that my Dell laptop is sending error information to their server. He read me a long string of numbers which he said is my LicenSe number.  I asked for a number I could call to verify that he is actually a Dell Tech Support employee and he gave me 972-763-9952 when I told him I want to speak with his manager.
