Got a call, said she was from this number from the general revenue?

Got a call at home & on my cell - no clue who this is or why they're calling.  The person said his name, a reference #, & said it was regarding a person I supposedly know.. Looked it up & it's a student loan collection agency. My student loans have been paid off for a LONG time (have the paperwork to prove it) so no clue how they even got my numbers.

Got 2 messages... Googled number and found my way here. The number appears to be from General Revenue and appeared on the rhode island higher education assistance authority web site. I live in MA and have never taken out a student loan. Best part is they're calling in regards to my son... Who turns 14 this week. Gonna be some time before he needs student loans.

got a call on my cell from a woman who said her name is erin, but she didn't say a company name or reference number. all she said she was that she was trying to get in touch with someone whom i've never heard of. not likely i'll be returning the call...

Caller left message, first name only, no company name. Provided a reference number.   Want me to provide a reference for a woman I've never heard of.

received a phone call and didn't answer, got a voicemail to call 800-436-5262 back with a reference number. Since they said they were calling in regards to a person with a same last name as myself I decided to call back. Don't know what they were actually looking for - a google search turned out that the number appeared on the rhode island higher education assistance authority web site.

The representative told me that they use search tools that come up with possible list of people that might know the person they're looking for. Turns out, we shared the last name so they thought we were relatives. I told them I didn't know who this person was or why my name would appear. They removed  me from the list and said I wouldn't be receiving any calls in the future.
