strange person with an accent called and left a voice mail mo my cellular phone trying to confirm location information.  did not call them.

Call after call from what sounds to be an India-based outsource call center. Other searches on the Internet reveal it's related to the U.S. collection agency Nationwide Credit. Callers do not speak English well enough to understand the names they use, repeatedly calling for "location information" on someone. Nothing like a down economy to bring out the bottom feeders.

This is the collector posing as a commenter. Read the broken English. They are trying to justify themselves. Disregard this liar.

I just got a called from someone with a heavy Indian accent. First they wanted to verify my name, then my address, and then my ssn. They read out an address and I told them it wasn't mine. Then they read out another address. I told them that was the correct one only because I wanted to find out more information on why they called me. I was told that I owed 1400 on an American Express card that's been in delinquent since 2008. I never had an American Express. I pulled my credit report at the beginning of the year and it didn't show anything. Then they wanted me to verify my ssn. This I refused. She put another person on and wanted me to verify my ssn. I refused again and then they read out a set of ssn. This was incorrect and I told them that too. Then they read out another set. Again, I refused to verify it.

They put a manager on the phone. He speaks better english. He wants me to verify the information and read out both the address and the ssn. Again, I told him that it was incorrect and asked him how did he get a hold of my address and my phone number. Only thing he told me was it's on a list and he's going through it.

Here's the kicker, I called up American Express to verify if I owe them any money. The CSR used my ssn to located any accounts current or delinquent. Nothing came back.

I would be weary about answering any questions from them and if you have any debts. Here are the only words you have to say when anybody calls claiming to be collections:

"Pursuant to the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, please notify me of any claims through registered mail."

A heavily accented (Indian?) male called requesting location information on my son (who has not lived at this address for over seven years).  The origination phone number shown on my caller ID is 678-248-0639 and shows as being from "Lilburg GA".  I hope this is not another recurring nuisance caller.  The 800-441-0377 number is his requested call back number.

Tell them to file their claim with the nearest court and settle it through your lawyer, the calls will stop.

the fact is every looser out here just know how to criticise.. if u pay uer liabilities on time u wont get bothered.. nation wide helped me to resolve ma debt in full.. ..dont kno of others.. im happy.. im out of it now..

Do it every time they call.

1. Never talk to any collection agency or debt help company over a telephone.
2. Never engage with them or admit who you are.
3. Always ask for everything in writing via mail.
4. Always respond to letters with a "FDCPA debt validation letter" sent via certified mail with return receipt.
5. Never lose hope. There's no money in heaven, you will be all right.

Dude if they'd had replyd to their mails, there would be no use for AmEx to outsourse their collections activities to some debt collector agencies...

These "Indian" [***] kept calling me looking for someone I never know.  When asked why, they
simply say "location"whatever.  Initially, I politely told them to stop calling since there is no one
with the name they have, but since they've called me regularly, I used harsh language.  

I've just complained to donotcall.gov.

A rep with a thick indian accent called from 408.385.9670. Bottom feeder of US have hired these scamsters [***]. Don't give any information to these bas***** over the phone. Ask for a registered mail to the address on file as per US law unlike lawless (lack of law implementation) developing countries.
