- AanoyedCaller ID says Unavailable. Blocked me, called them and some foreigner(sounds Indian) answers "Customer Service." Really?
- Annoyed| 5 repliesThis is a scam, this is not Apple Support, the number for them is 800 694 7466. This number will drain your bank account. The do not answer the phone with "Thank you for calling Apple Support", this is a major red flag.
- Caller: Claiming to be Apple Support
- Sr. IT Engineer| 5 repliesThis number comes up on Apple devices as a pop-up in Safari stating there is a major security concern. The number 800-457-5916 is NOT Apple Support, though they claim the company name is "Online Support for Apple;" it is a scam company based out of India. They try to get onto your computer for a fee to "fix" the security concern. They ask for $300 to remove a "hack" on your computer/Apple device. Already reported directly to Apple, but figured I'd spread word online, as well.
- Caller: Online Support for Apple (not really Apple)
- Alexandra replies to Annoyed| 4 replieshow do i get rid of it off of my safari?

I called and they wanted me to go to the Apple Store so they could do a diagnostic check. My husband asked how we knew he was legit which frustrated him. He hung up on us. - iPad user| 1 replyWhile surfing in Safari on my IPad, this popped up on my screen,

I dialed this number from an iPhone and this Indian sounding foreigner answered " This is apple Support", he said he couldn't fix my iPad unless I had access to a computer! I was instructed to call back this number when I was near a computer and has access to it!
I know this voice from previous calls from another number in Oregon, which was also a scam to try to get into my computer so he could fix my computer from sending out error messages and was also calling from Apple Support. Now they are trying to get in your iPads and iPhones!- Caller: Security message on IPad
- IPad 1 user| 2 repliesMy iPad screen flashed a vibrating message when I tried to connect with Safari just as the iPad user in the above comment. I called the "supposed" Apple Support number and man with an heavy Indian accent answered and said his name was Alan and he was Apple support and could help, saying my wifi may be hacked and asked me to connect my iPad to a computer which I did. Then he scrolled down my computer screen circling several lines on my screen with a red digital pen saying these other areas had been hacked and had the word "hacked" after them. I disconnected my computer from my iPad and he became angry saying that I was extremely rude and hung up. This is NOT Apple.
- MagdaI have experienced the same problem with the safari alert as the one described above. Silly me, I did what he was asking me to do, that is to connect my iPad with my desktop computer. Listend to him while he was telling me how all our devices connected to our wifi had been hacked with a virus. When he was asking for the money to fix it that's when I hung up on him. My worries now are : has he hacked to my computer??? Is my computer content at risk??? My online banking etc. please let me know about your experience and thoughts. Thanks

- Franny GSomeone close to me received the same screen indicating they were in need of technical support and to call the 800-457-5916 number for immediate assistance. Out of fear that there was something wrong with their Mac, he called and got "Online Support", Indian voice. This supposed technician convinced my friend to download LogMeIn Rescue 123 and proceeded to browse around on his PC. When told that they could fix the problems for a mere $300 my friend decided to end the session and the conversation, much to the dismay of the technician. In addition to having him call his bank to alert them of this situation, as they use online banking, I suggested that he download and run Avast AV software for Mac. I am concerned that there could be a bot or some type of key logger now resident on his Mac. I'm a PC guy and know little about the Mac world. Does anyone out there have any other suggestions for things needing to be done/actions to be taken??

- Eileen Fisher| 1 replyEXACTELY the same as everyone else.
I knew something was wrong when they asked for $300 to fix the hacker. I told him I thought HE was the hacker and this was a scam.I told him he did not sound professional AT ALL and an Apple rep would not talk like him. I told him he was the enemy and he is trying to take my $300. He got very angry and said well if you dont believe me and you lose $$ from your bank accouint dont blame Apple! I said SEE!!! You are NOT legit. No one would ever say that. Also the fact that the dirty filthy Indian Hoodlum/Criminal trying to steal our $$ could barely speak English is a good giveaway asw well!
I had no idea and plugged phone into computer so I wish someone could tell me what precautions to take now....against these forien criminals.- Caller: Apple supportme.com
- Katrina| 1 replyI got this error and called. I was not near a computer so when I told him I was not, he started asking how old I was, if I was married, if I had a boyfriend, and when I would be married! What is this????
- Adriana replies to Eileen FisherI hope this helps everyone this happened to me yesterday he actually didn't have enough time to ask for money because I ended this situation after I gave him my name and my ZIP Code dumb I can't believe I fell for that long but I called Apple and they helped me to go through my computer and make sure he didn't do any damage and also my phone and to make sure he wasn't connected to my computer at all anymore I believe if you restart your computer they are not connected anymore but I will call Apple and get assistance they will give you assistance for free since this is a security issue even if your Mac is not under warranty anymore I hope this helps
- SusanGot the same message and called. When he asked if I was by my computer and I told him no he hung up. I then performed an update on my phone. I hope it works. Makes me very uncomfortable that this can happen in the first place

- ESame thing happened to me just yesterday, when I thought I was going to you tube to watch a movie on my new IPad, the error message came up like a dummy I thought it was apple tech support I called they said I had a virus, The website was Dailymotion.com on you tube.... I called the number (thinking is was Apple) they said don't worry we will fix the virus, they said hook up your Ipad to your computer, they did the same thing the lady from India started drawing lines showing I had a virus and showed me internet on wiki Koopface virus, my husband came into my office, took the phone, and asked who this women was she got very nervous, thank god I only started to give my husbands birthday (they sad we just need the owners info owner of Ipad) gave no year or CC info! I felt so stupid and violated I immediately unplugged her and she hung up on my husband - so I called the FBI and filed a complaint (you have to do that online go to FBI.gov I believe and immediately wipe all history off your computer, (per what apple told me to do) and I was told if you file a police report locally you call use the Case # to call the credit bureaus they will monitor all your Credit reports for 7 yrs free if you file a report which I am doing today. It took me all day yesterday to change passwords on on all banking and CC info online. I want to take this scums down! Karma is a b----.

- EricThey are in Pakistsn. I called them just to mess with them. He told me he was Apple Support and when I questioned him about working for Apple he changed his story saying he's third party support for Apple. Then when I told him he was a scammer, he started calling me names. He could hear my girlfriend laughing at him in the background and made some very nasty sexually comments about her. I knew was a scam right off the bat. He told me i had to pay him $600. I asked him why i would pay him $600 and he said because I'm an idiot. I told him if I paid $600 i would be an idiot...until then, he's the idiot. Had a bit of fun with him.

- Kyle| 1 replyI had the pop up happen to me this morning! Freaked me out! Scam wasn't the first thing that popped into my head. The number it said to call was 1 800 457 5916. I did and it was a foreign person asking if I was near a computer or laptop. The only thing I gave was my name! Should I be worried?

- Celo replies to AlexandraI just got this on my iPad. After reading the comments here, I just closed Safari and then reopened it. After closing the pop-up window a few times, Safari asked me if I wanted to block the sender's pop up (which I did), and it never appeared again.
Hope this helps...
