A "Ms. Davis" leaves an absolutely vague message, asking me to call back her ext. 2290. But she doesn't state upon whose behalf she is calling and why I should call her back. Great way to earn someone's trust and get them to call you back. ha... maybe it is that debt collection agency. I'll probably have to deal directly with ATT first to get the details straight if they are involved.

    ATT dispute case
"Ms. Davis" is NOT a "Ms" or a lady just listen to the way she speaks and you will know that there is no way  she could be. She does not have a professional bone in her body and enjoys calling and just threatening and yelling instead of talking professional about the situation and the reason for her call.  AND...for this reason I would never pay southwest credit services a cent.  Davis left a message stating I needed to call her back right away... she left a file number but never stated what the call was about. Then the next day I received another message and this time it was very rude and in a threatening manner, Davis stated in the message that she had left me serveral messages and I needed to call her back that day immediately. This statement was a fabricated lie. There was a 24 hour period in-betweens the two messages and I did not have a chance to return her call that fast. I did call her back on the third day, she explained that she wanted to collect for a past due bill from ATT and asked me to pay it by the end of the month which was one week away. I told her that the bill was being disputed with ATT and I was not aware they sent it to the collection services until that call. Then from there it went all down hill and she was screaming and threatening my credit and said that this wasn't her problem and she only wanted to talk about money and she wanted a payment date. I then try to speak again and she total over power the conversation with her rude loud voice.  After I found out that my disputed bill went to collection I decided to pay my bill directly to ATT while waiting to hear the results on my disputed bill. After making the payment to ATT directly I left a message for Davis stating that the ATT bill has been paid in full and I left my file number and the payment confirmation number/date, also in the message I requested that Davis is to never call me again. Then on the next Monday morning Davis called my work(not home) even after i left the message stating it was paid and to never call me again. When she called my work she got the wrong extension and starting telling my co-worker who she was... then my coworker handed me her phone while I was talking to three other co-workers and to my surprise it was this rude uneducated loud voice again.   I asked her why she calling me at work and tried to tell her the bill was paid but she was in the middle of her loud ranting and didn't listen to a word that i was try to say so I then requested that she NEVER calls my work again and hung up the phone. She knew I had settled with ATT when she made that call because I could hear her laughs in between her loud ranting voice that was trying to over power my conversation.  I am not sure where this got her or her company in the end. They made no money from me and can not mark my credit so it must have been all about Davis feeling vindictive while doing a minimum wage uneducated job!

I'm sure the calls are from Southwest Credit, from everyone else has posted.  I also have a disputed bill with AT&T. They took over my cell phone service and started adding on charges for services I didn't want and then refused to give me a intemized statement. They are a low rent credit collector and I doubt any bad report from them on your record would even be considered. AT&T is under fire from the Feds and may go bankrupt at any time. Don't deal with them or Soutwest!

these people called me today and never even identified themselves telling me someone had used my SSN to obtain a cellphone from AT&T..but AT&T has no record of this ever happening.
When I called southwest back(got their number with *69 on my phone) a man named Jim answered with a simple "hello";and he got snippy when i asked if it was a business number;then began yelling at me when I refused to give him my SSN so I hung up on him.

Here is a letter I sent to Southwest, after I got their "wonderful" call:

    Tue 3/11/08 2:19 AM
    To: support@sw-credit.com

    To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing this letter to inform you of the phone call I received on 03/10/2008 at 7:30 PM EST, from a representative of your company, regarding my debt with AT&T Wireless. (The SWCS account # for me is XXXXXXXX, and the Creditor account # is XXXXXXXXX.) The woman with whom I spoke with came across as rude, bullying, and uncaring. I tried to explain to her that I had already contacted AT&T directly already, and had already made repayment arrangements with them. She repeatedly tried to pressure in to making other arrangements with your company. It got to the point where I just hung up on her.

I would like to refer you to The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, a federal law specifically passed to reduce collection agency harassment of consumers. Part of this law says that I'm not obligated to deal with an outside collection agency, and I may deal directly with the original creditor, which I have already done, coincidentally as it may seem, the very same day I received this phone call from your company.

The law also provides a provision stating that communicating with me in an abusive manner is also not allowed. I am not your average Joe Smith who got behind on his bills. I am an intelligent, college student who happened to be laid off of a good job, and had to take measures to have food and shelter. I am honestly trying to make ends meet, and intend to repay my debt with AT&T Wireless. I am also intelligent enough to know that I have rights in the case of repaying a debt. I felt bullied by the person from your company who contacted me, and that is the reason I hung up the phone.

The main points I am writing this letter is to:

    1. Let whomever it is that is in charge of my account know that I have already contacted AT&T Wireless, and have already made repayment arrangements with them directly. (I spoke with a (Name Removed) at the phone # 1-800-XXX-XXXX, and he made a note on my account of the arrangement, if anyone wishes to verify this). I therefore, no longer require the assistance of your agency.

    and...

    2. To let your company know to please cease any future attempts to contact me, with the exception being a reply to acknowledge the receipt of this letter.

    Thank You,

    Preston XXXXXXX

They have called me again twice, and each time I tell them I've made arrangements with the original creditor. It pisses 'em off. I'd suggest this method for anyone recieving call from these guys.

they are collecting for the att mafia - keep all your records- I had Cingular and everything was fine - untill the bills went from $100 average for 2 phones to over $400!

I switched companies before they cut me off - but I do have a long paper trail of disputes with them - send them certified letters disputing the overcharges- then sue them in small claims court - 99% chance you will win!

I received a call from this number. The person, Jim Wilson, was very rude. The company is Southwest Credit or South West Credit--Jim refused to explain further. He has repeatedly called this number looking for someone who doesn't use the phone number. When I tried to explain this to him, he gets very belligerent and calls me a liar. When told that I don't want him to call here anymore, he accuses me of being the person that he is looking for.

If you are having trouble with this company, you can try to call them back but I doubt it will help. Their phone number is 1-800-462-3892 and Jim Wilson's extension is 2382. However, if you ask for a supervisor, Jim refuses to transfer you because you are not the person he is looking for (Yes, I am not the person they are looking for when I want a supervisor, but I am the person they are looking for during the rest of the conversation). If you do want to talk to a supervisor when call the company at 1-800-462-3892, do not mention the employees name who is harassing you until you have been transferred. If you do mention their name, the operator will transfer you to that person's phone and they answer it will an alias.

These are very rude people. I suggest people should call their number 1-800-462-3892 and talk to them. Remember, for every minute that you waste of their time, it's a minute that they cannot conduct business.

I repeatly have gotten calls from this and a couple other SW Credit phone numbers, sometimes a person other times a machine. When I call and tell them that the person they're looking for isn't at this number (they aren't) they say OK, and that they'll take this number off their list, yet they keep calling.

    Angry Night Worker
I hate this company, Southwest Credit. Its people keep calling me during the day when I sleep, since I work at night. They are looking for someone that I don't know. The people are very rude. Several people here that explained how rude they are with their verbal threats and assaults.

If these people call and harass you, you should take steps to prevent them from doing so. First, call them back at 972-246-5900 and ask for Jim Hurt (if they even bother to answer the phone). Jim Hurt is the CEO and you can yell at him about his rude employees. Second, connect the Better Business Bureau since Southwest Credit is a member and currently has 29 unresolved customer service complaints (BBB doesn't consider this a large number). For more info about them at the BBB: http://www.dallas.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=50&bbb=0875&firm=2351
Third, contact the Texas Attorney General to file a complaint about them: http://www.oag.state.tx.us/consumer/complain.shtml
Fourth, contact the FTC and file another complaint about them: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

They should leave you alone after doing all those things. I know I had to do every single one of those to get them from calling me about an unknown person. They don't care what you think about them, but they will care when the BBB strips their accreditation and the state and federal government makes them accountable for their actions.

I received repeated calls/messages from 800-462-3804 instructing me to call back "immediately that day."  They did not say which company was calling nor the nature of the call.  When I called back, the person who answered would not identify the full name of the organization nor the nature of the business without a reference number.  I hung up and did an internet search on the number.  Based on what I found, it was clear that the company was a credit agency for AT&T Wireless.  I had purchased a phone from AT&T and returned it within 30 days. They had credited my account and said that I did not have an outstanding balance.  I called AT&T directly and learned that they showed an outstanding balance - but, they had been billing the wrong address (they typed it incorrectly when I purchased the phone).  I resolved the issue directly with AT&T - although I doubt they will correct my credit report without many follow ups.

Just got a call from these crooks today and they left a message.

No ID as to what the call was about - just a claim that a "complaint" was filed against me, and I could barely make out the name of the company in "Ms. Davis's" message. I figured 90% chance of a scammer and 10% of somebody making a mistake, so I figured I'd call them back, give them no info, and confirm my suspicions.

I call and that clown Jim just says "Hello" with no company ID. I have to pry that out of them and I then make it clear that I don't know who they are so they clearly have the wrong number. He gets snotty about it, laughs, and acts superior before he finally transfers me to "Ms. Davis."

I get her on the line and basically demand to know who they h*ck they are and what the h*ck they want. She looks up my number and sees that I am not in their system, so I tell her that she clearly has a wrong number and she basically says "oops" and hangs up.

No way that they are a legitimate company - they just oozed slime over the phone. If they call back, I'll threaten them with action from the BBB, the Texas Attorney General, and the FTC. And if AT&T DOES show a balance for some odd reason, they can send me the bill, not route it through this scam agency.

Got the same basic call that everyone else here is reporting.  My new "friend" goes by the name Fred Briggs at Southwest Credit.  Calls up, says he has a complaint and to return his call immediately about this "very important issue".  Called the number, got a "Hello?" on the other end, asked for Fred Briggs and the woman said "uh...okay", then hung up.  I called back and got an automated answer saying "This call may be monitored or recorded" than a different woman mumbles "saou,uh,sa Credit".  I said I was returning a call from Fred Briggs. She demanded to know my name, phone number and case number.  When I told her I didn't know what she was talking about, that I was just returning a phone message, she made a couple of snotty comments and hung up.  THEN I got on the internet and typed in the number and started reading these listings.  I also had a problem with AT&T and ported my number over to another carrier.  I don't have an outstanding balance with AT&T (to the best of my knowledge), but based on what I'm reading here, sounds like I should contact AT&T and see if there is a problem.

Thanks to all of you that have taken time to post your messages here.  It helps to know what's going on - Because apparently I'm not going to find out from Southwest Credit!

I just received a phone call from Jim Wilson tonight. When I answered I asked with whom I was speaking and they wouldn't say because they "don't have time to be answering questions". Initially, my sister is the one that answered the phone and he told her she was stupid and started yelling at her and then she hung up on him. He called back right away and I answered and he was immediately rude and belligerent with me and wouldn't tell me what the call was concerning, who he was, or who is employer is. He was screaming so loudly that I had to pull the phone away from my ear and I just told him to have a nice night and hung up. He then calls back on my AT&T cell phone (of which, I am not even the primary number) and when I answered, he just laughed and hung up on me. My mom (the primary number) then calls in and he is the same with her. I don't know what this company thinks they are doing but they obviously don't know that you catch more flies with honey!

Representative belittled me on the phone talking down to me for nonpayment of a bill.  My charge card was charged without my authorization.  I call to find out why and get hung up on by multiple representatives from this company.  Poor business tatics from them.  ATT SHOULD DROP THEIR SERVICE!  I WILL NEVER USE ATT OR AFFILIATE DUE TO THIS AGAIN!

I am an international student in the United States and this number is calling me too. I don't have any bills here except school bills that are always paid. I have an AT&T phone too, but it is a go phone I purchased couple months ago.. It is very annoying to receive these calls from these agencies.. not the first time they are looking for the wrong person too.
