Got a letter to extend warranty for my car. Has same phone number. Still no company address or price. Very suspicious.

Got the same letter again today -- 2ND ATTEMPT.
We already have the extended warranty from the dealer.
These guys should be tracked down and put out of business!!!!

I got the 2nd attempt letter too.  They want to sell an automobile extended warrenty after a new car warrenty has expired.

I just got a letter today from NAVISS though it has no name and return address in the front for a 2ND ATTEMPT to notify me of a vehicle warranty which is about to expire.  The letter looks official and yet so arrogant and threatening. Please note that it has a different toll-free number floating in the web in or before June 2011.

This is a very common tactic in direct mail.  Something comes in the mail that at first glance looks like an "important" official notice from a company you already do business with.  It has a headline like "Last Notice" or as you mention "2nd Attempt", implying that you've overlooked several previous attempts by the company to reach you about something important that's about to expire.

The product they're offering may be perfectly legitimate, as is the one in this notice - an extended warranty for your automobile (but fairly costly at around $2000 for two years), and at a basic level this advertising tactic isn't really unethical or a scam.  It's a way to try to get more than a passing glance from you when you tear through all the bulk mail you get every day.  

It's no different than any other prospective business deal you might decide to take up.  It's up to you to do your due diligence to determine if it's a legtimate offer from a legitimate company.  

Like you, I'm irritated by the false urgency of these things, but unless they truly are pretending to be something they're not, but it just earns them a quick trip to file 13.  

I'm much more annoyed by getting the same credit card offer once per week, every week, for the past X years, because I have to open it to remove the personalized page that has to be shredded before it goes into the trash can.

Called my cell phone which I buy minutes for and they burn.

I got a second attempt letter for vehicle warranty and I am sending it to the Attorney general in Phoenix with a letter.  We get about 1 per week.  We know it's a scam so perhaps they can attempt to break the cycle.

We called NAVISS to ask for a quote on the extended warranty for our car and wondered how they got our car information.  They transferred us to a few people.  When we told them that we don't want the warranty service, they kept asking me for our credit card numbers.  Then we felt suspicious and confirmed that we did not want it.  We hung up and would never call on any mail scam.

I'm sending a copy of my 2nd notice warning letter to the Postal Inspection Service. Hopefully they can track them down and stop these threatening letters.

Got a letter in the mail on Friday.  It is a scam!!!

My mother signed up for this and now am worried it is a scam, does anyone know if this is legit?  Seems pretty expensive to me.

Interesting view, though incorrect.  
The Company name and address is not on the front and nothing explains who they are and what they are offering.  Instead it's made out that they are sending this from the dealership.  That would be fraudulent and unethical.  It even reads, " Speak with Naviss to continue coverage".  It's not being continued if I never had it.  

In ever new letter, Naviss claims the coverage will expire at a certain date.  This date is always changed to a month away on every mailing I get.  Hmmm, my coverage expired 2 months ago according to my first mailing I received.  How can I be getting a new  letter stating the expiration is still 1 month away?  Sounds legit to me, nothing deceptive here.  

Even better, i got one a year later after my supposed expiration, stating the coverage was about to expire again.  That 1 month lasted a year?  Wow impressive.  Not to mention I still received their letters and calls 2 years after selling my car.  And on the phone being told, "your car's (insert make and model here) Extended warranty is about to expire."  Really now?  

Yes I agree, not unethical or scam at all.  Because manipulation and lying isn't scamming......  Are you brain damaged or just work for the company in question.  That's rhetorical.

I got the '2nd Notice' after not even receiving the '1st notice'.  I get these scams periodically. Almost all of them come from the St Louis MO area but occasionally from FL, like this one. I know the economy is bad, and Missouri is a poor state, so I guess they are desperate. That's also probably why the attorney general in MO won't shut all these "extended warranty" scams down. They keep changing their "company" names every few months, along with their toll free numbers, but it's the same old telemarketers with the same old scare tactic trying to fraudulently squeeze money out of us. Do what I do-put them in the junk mail recycle bin if it's thru the mail; don't reply if it's a phone call.

I received the same second attempt and ended up calling.  It was ridiculously expensive.  They definitely tried to hard sell me after I said I had to talk to my dealer first (my current warranty is with them).  They took $800 off so if you're actually interested in the coverage, try escalating.

SCAMMERS, SCAMMERS, SCAMMERS.   This is a misuse of their issued postal permit by sending out unsolicited (and therefore harassing) mail that contains neither a return address, a company name, a company address, a company representative, etc.  Avoid any reply at all costs to any such unscroupulous moron company that would resort to such contact practices.  SCAMMERS, SCAMMERS, SCAMMERS lying in wait for anyone to blindly contact them back.  Don't fall for it...

I've gotten these calls and letters for several years even for a vehicle we no longer own. .  Ignore this SCAM.
