    Some Dude
Got a call from "Michael from Apple Incorporated" with my order number from a recent order saying I had to confirm my credit card. The caller ID said it was from Austin, TX.

I called back but nobody answered. The recording said to leave my name, order number, and phone number. After it said that, a standard voice mail message came on saying "After the beep leave a message or press whatever..." which is really uncharacteristic of a business. Sounds like someone's personal phone.

HOWEVER, after calling the number listed on Apple's website, they confirmed that Michael did in fact call me. The gentleman transferred my call, but still no answer.

So apparently it's a legit number. But I still recommend calling Apple's main line at 1-800-676-2775 to be sure.

They saved my *ss !!!   I had no idea why I got a message from Apple.  I've never owned anything from Apple but the person who left the message (I couldn't understand his name) had my card #, so I figured I better call back and find out what the hell this was all about.    Good thing I did!  Turns out someone had gotten my credit card number and had already used it on 3 web sites.  Thank gawd that dude at Apple called to warn me.  I shudder to think how many other places the thieves might have used my card at before I figured out what was going on !!

I received an email from the Apple Store stating that an order for the new IPhone was placed using my name, email address and phone number. I was in the middle of something at the time so I really didn't catch it at first. Then I received a second email stating that the order was being reviewed and didn't go through because of "My" Financial Institution. So I looked at the first email and noticed that a $300 dollar phone was placed under my name email address and phone number, but under some billing shipping address in Detroit, MI.So I looked at the second email and it stated that they would continue to try processing the order for the next 10 days and if I had any questions to contact Dani at 1-800-506-3096 x547215 24 Hours a day. Of course I called this number right away. She asked questions about the order. I told her I didn't know anything about the order and was confused of how such an order can be placed. She didn't answer any questions but she informed me that the phone was supposed to be picked up from a store in Chicago, IL and advised me that she cancelled the order.

Looks like the fraudsters are putting fake reviews here to make you think this is a valid number.

Most likely fraud. They left a voice message at my office regarding an "Online Apple Store" purchase and needed to verify my credit card. I called 800-506-3096, a recording answered "Apple" and to enter the extension. The extension 5261361 (7 digits is too many) probably forwarded to another location where Ashley answered (same person who left the voice message). I only provided my name and then I asked the questions. The attempt was for a $500 E-Gift card against my Visa. The first last-4 digits given were incorrect (the ploy), but the second card referenced was correct. Somehow they had obtained my credit card number and office phone number. It is worth calling the frauds back to find out which credit card info they have. Then you can retrace your purchases and identify the source of the "leak", then report it to the proper authorities to investigate.

Totally legit. If you are worried about the number like I was then call apple directly and ask for customer service and give the order number. Someone had charged 1800 dollars itunes card to my credit card.  Cancelled my credit card which had the pending charge on it.  Apple noticed the phone and email did not match my itunes account.

This appears to be legitimate, although not easy to confirm on Apple's end.

I received a call from Sam asking about a suspicious purchase.  Before I would discuss it with them, I asked for  a call back number, and was given 1-800-506-3096 x5261043.  I looked up Apple's customer service number and called them directly.  They confirmed the charge, and that it had been cancelled by Apple security.  I asked them to confirm the number I was given, but they did not find it in the company directory.  I did call the number back.  They did not ask for any personal information. They already had my name, address, phone number, and credit card number.  They confirmed that there was a purchase ($900 for iPhone 6) made on-line today, that it was flagged by security, and that it was cancelled by them.  They recommended I notify my bank as well.  At no time did they solicit any information from me.

I called my credit card company, and they found a dozen or so on-line charges that I didn't make, including this Apple charge.  So except for the fact that Apple couldn't confirm that this was one of their numbers,  everything seems legitimate.

I understand why fraudsters try to make their action appear like real companies.  What I don't understand is when real companies make their actions appear like fraudulent ones!  All Apple had to do was list this number on their website, and I would have known for sure that it came from them.

Legit caller. This call alerted me to look into the online records of my credit cards. I quickly verified that somebody had tried to charge nearly $1,000 to my Visa for Apple products. I then immediately called my credit card company to report the fraud and request a new card. Even if you don't call Apple back, check your recent card activity for fraudulent charges!

this is a legit number. i placed an online order with apple and received an email saying my CC billing info didn't match the billing info i gave them and that they wanted to ensure it was an authorized transaction. instead of calling the number they gave in the email, i called apple directly, and they confirmed the number, name and extension of the "specialist" who is trying to verify that i made an order.

A message was left on my VM from Amara wanting to confirm that I placed an order at the Apple on-line store.  The number she left to call back was 800-506-3096 x5262874.  I called this number back but this was not a valid extension. I left a VM.  I then called the regular Apple number and was told that someone placed an order for a Macbook Pro yesterday, used a made-up e-mail address, but used my home address for delivery and charged it to my Wells Fargo credit card.  She confirmed Amara's phone number and that was the correct extension according to her list.  In any case, the order was cancelled and then I called Wells Fargo and cancelled my credit card.  I'm puzzled - if you are going to steal my credit card number and order a nice laptop, why would you have it delivered to my address?

THIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BELIEVE THIS! CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY RIGHT AWAY!! Got a phone call form (512)674-2000 told me he was from the apple store and asked me to confirm if I bought a computer. Don't know how he got my number in the first place if I did not order a computer and he knew the last 4 digits of my credit card. He was trying to get personal information out of me. I told him I would call him back later because I was at work and gave me another number to call back: 1(800)506 3096. Did not call them back and went straight to my credit card company just to find an unauthorized charge.

    Not Legit!
I had the same experience, got a message that I needed to call Apple back about a call I had received.   My "tech's" name was Jasmine and she gave me an extension that was incorrect (55262756) and an 800 umber to call back (800-506-3096).  I was instantly suspicious because when I called the number on my caller ID 512-674-2000, it said it was Apple but closed on Sunday, although I got the call on Sunday.  I called Apple, and although they were generally disinterested about the phone number the call generated from, they did confirm I had no outstanding orders.  I assume that the trolls on the fraudulent site have posted a bunch of comments on here claiming that the site is legit.  It isn't.
