SCAM: Delinquent Payday Loan Collection Scam

Received a call from Federal Check Processors today phone number 800-519-3019. They are a debt collector for payday loans. They told my wife we had until 3pm to pay the debt or the check I wrote will be turned over to the district attorney and legal action will result. This is a scam. DA's in most states will refuse to process a payday loan check.
Saying they are "Federal" is misleading and false and a deceptive way to collect a debt in many states.

OVERVIEW: Consumers report receiving calls from scammers pretending to be representatives from the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, and other legitimate-sounding agencies attempting to collect payment on delinquent payday loans. The "hired debt-collector" states he/she is collecting debts for companies like United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check cashing services, and that the loan must be repaid to avoid legal consequences.

Scammers threaten victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they refuse to pay. In many cases, the callers even resort to harassment of the victim's relatives, friends, and employers. Some victims have been instructed to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain dollar amount, on a specific date, by a prepaid Visa card. The victim also must agree to never to dispute the debt.
