I received a call on my work phone from someone claiming to be from AT&T. They advised me I had received a collect call for which they needed to send an invoice.  I gave them my mailing address.  2 weeks later I received a bill for $16.01.  The envelope and return envelope both had the AT&T color logo and looked legitimate. The invoice had a fuzzy photocopy of the logo and was in black ink. I called the toll free number. No IVR asking me to press 1 for home phone, 2 for mobile phone, 3 for internet etc. I was immediately connected to an agent (this never happens when you call the phone company) as was told because the collect call originated on the AT&T network I was responsible to pay the charges and that they would not appear on my normal phone bill.  He told me I could pay the small charge by credit card. I advised him I would check with AT&T Canada, he said there is no reason and that they can't help me and became aggressive "why would AT&T send you a bill for $16" I replied it was a good scam to get my credit card number. This is a total SCAM. It looks like they stole a bunch of real AT&T envelopes. The post mark was from California. I am reporting them to the US Postal Inspection Service and the RCMP here in Canada.

I received a bill in the mail at work for an international call to Russia.  The call was for 2 minutes exactly.  I called the number 800/522-2158 on the bill and had to wait for someone to call me back because I was on hold for a long time.  The bill was for $29.57.  I inquired as to how we would receive a bill when they are not our current phone provider.  I was told that sometimes when you go overseas, you are transferred to the best network.  I informed them that in order to make long distance calls, a 011 must be dialed, which did not show on the bill.  The lady did delete the invoice, but I think this is a scam.

I got a few bills from them at my NJ address, and happen to have ATT in my Fla. residence, so I didn't know there was a problem for a while. The account numbers were different and I started to investigate. This is a scam!!!!

Got a bill for AT&T for $8.96 when I'm not a customer. Didn't look quite right and couldn't get any information from AT&T themselves so I'm glad to see the other comments here. It was for a call for 3 minutes exactly and was to be sent to a PO box in Atlanta Georgia. Don't fall for this. I think it's a scam.
