- deedeecall often no messags

- Caller: Xentel
- annoyed| 1 replyWe have been getting calls from this number 2 or 3 times a day for the past week or so. At first, we thought it was dead air and we would hang up. If you stay on the line a little longer someone eventually comes through and says hello. I don't know who it is because I don't say hello. Instead I put it on mute and stay on the line until they hang up (in hopes of them thinking it's a dead line and will take my number off their list).

- marglainerKeep getting calls from this number, last ones were yesterday at 2:23 and Jan 5th 2:06 pm. We have had so many hang ups in the past now that we have caller ID at least we don't have to pick up the phone to know it is a telemarketer, scammer, spammer or harassment call. Wish we could stop these annoying idiots. Anyone have any ideas that would actually get them caught or at least stop them?
- CalgaryI keep getting calls from this number as well.
I have call blocked it now. - keshajust dead air
- Caller: ?????????
- DeanGetting several phone calls in BC., from this number. They never leave a message. Unable to find the subscriber for this number.
- Jfirst got dead air, then after a moment....when I said hello there was a real voice. They were asking for Mrs..... I asked who they were. They would not answer my question. At this point they said they would call back another time. I told them to take my number off their call list and then hung up. please do something about these nonsense calls.
- Crime WatchI have a suggestion to discourage them to operate. Here is how:
1. Use Internet Skype phone to call them. Their alternate phone number is 1-800-379-7808. Using Skype, they can't trace who you are or what is your land line number. Also there is no charge using the Skype service with 1-800 numbers.
2. When the line get through, go to option 4. This will connect you to a life person. Get his/her name and ask some stupid personal question like his/her age, marriage status...this will get him/her mad.
3. Tell him/her the conversation is recorded or will be broadcasted. This will cause him/her to calm down.
4. Now you can question them why their phone calls are bordering you.
5. If everybody is doing the Skype call a few time a day, I am sure their business will not function. Their operator will quit the job.- Caller: Oldtimer's Hocky Challenge
- Doug| 3 replieswhy do people keep posting that it's apparently from an "Old Timer's Hockey Association"???
it's got NOTHING to do with anything like that. XENTEL DM is one of the various COLLECTION AGENCIES for both Visa, MCard & American Express. They are routing for collecting owed monies on credit cards etc. They operate in both Canada and the USA. Stop claiming that they are some "Old Timers Hockey" [***]. I know the real identity of this caller. It's a COLLECTION AGENCY dummies!- Caller: Xentel

- ScottyI enter these numbers in my phones talking phone book and name them by the last call that I searched on this site. For example 8005259241 is MHOTHG.
The next time they call I answer with the following instead of hello -
Am I ever glad you called. I am trying to get people to sponser the Old Timer's Hockey. Would you be kind enough to contribute? All I need is your credit card number and you name and of course your social security number for a tax receipt.
For 905-200-1935 the spiel changes to
Am I ever glad you called. Have I got a deal for you. We can reduce your interest rate on any credit card you hold by at least 10%. Just imagine! You could save 50% if you have the normal five cards. All I need is your credit card number and you name and of course your social security number for verification that you are who you claim to be. Are you interested?
Usually a hangup before I finish - Scotty replies to DougWe identify them as the OTH because in our area that is why this particular number is calling us at the present time. Of course this same number is used to "reduce your CC interest" or "your warranty is about to expire" or "You have won a free cruise" etc.
- david gilesthis number calls me every day- can't this be stopped.
- They CALL!There's a few things people get with this number
- Old Timer Hockey
- Xentel Debt Collection
- silence the first call, then the call center calls you endlessly if you pick it up
- special needs kids to some show/circus/game
- Sears extended warranty something
- old timer hockey and 'representing the 'Calgary Police Service' [worried some callers with that one]
- old timer hockey in support of big brothers/big sisters
my guess it's Xentel and their 'charity' where i believe they collect most of the money for them for their 'overhead' and then a small amount to the many charities/businesses they do work for.. Mind you a lot of big charity managers do this.
The charities seem legit, unless someone's impersonating them, but no one likes all the rude calls and ultra slimy telemarketing.. esp if it's your own phone or cable companies hiding the name of their identity when they call ya.
if you're curious about how the calls might be scheduled to ring your house look at their calendar

- Glen65Tip of the century:
Download a wave or mp3 file of a fax machine answering, play it on something so you can record it as your answering machine message, it might take some trial and error to make it sound convincing, call yourself and test.
I tell all your friends to wait for the beep at the end of about ten seconds of "Fax Answering", and it works, I never see the same telemarketers' number twice, and the calls have become less frequent.
If you like this tip, PASS IT ON, Please, for the betterment of humanity.
Enjoy
