That's funny, if it's JCPenny's collection because I don't even have an account with them!!!!!!!  The call comes, but as soon as my answering machine comes on they hang up.  No message, just a hang up.

An incredibly rude message was left for me from a man at this number.  I have no idea who he is or what company he is calling from.  If they are not specific, they aren't getting a call back from me.

Only Readers Digest has my name spelled this way.  Why am I getting calls from 800-527-3369, from Kevin, who claims he is from J C Penny?

Sounds as though he has marbles in his mouth when he speaks.  No doubt he is the result of outsourcing.  Panga Panga?

I just received a call (he gave that number as his callback) trying to confirm my sister's address. I immediately told him to leave his number and that I would not confirm anything and why the hell am I hearing a beep? I did not authorize any recording of my voice! He apologized, switched to his "supervisor" who introduced himself as Michael and asked to confirm her address (didn't I tell the other guy I wouldn't?) and there is the beeping again. I told him I would not confirm and I would pass the number to her and then hammered him for continuing to record my voice. My sister also confirmed she's up to date and knows no reason they're calling me.

I called J.C. Penney's about to howl about illegal recording when they told me the number given isn't even on their list. Likely fraud but they cannot act on it.

I never answer the phone when they call.  Of course, they don't leave a message.  Just silence and then they hang up.

Be careful people!! There are slick persons that are trying to get your personal info over the phone! NEVER your personal info over the telephone unless you are the one that called whatever company you owe money to. These slime balls get numbers from collection agencies somehow and ask you to call back that way they know your address is the right one. Then that is the first step to gaining more info about YOU!

These calls are from GE Money for JC Penney Credit Services trying to collect a bill.  (I do not have an account with JCP.)  I spoke to a 'supervisor' by the name of Matthew Johnson explaining receipt of daily automated calls to a business phone.  He said he could remove the number from the dialing machine.  Hopefully he will follow through as the other people (in India) on the first tier don't seem to be able to accomplish anything other than read their script.

This number calls my cell phone every day and a recording comes on in Spanish? All I can make out is JC Penny credit in the recording. Even if I don't answer it burns up minutes on my cell phone.

    BEEN FRAUDED
If you pick up the phone when it is ringing, it will more than likely be a collection agency on the other end looking for any kind of info to connect you to an account or create one.  If you see the number on your caller ID and call it, you will actually connect to the actual party that the number was assigned to.

It's called phone spoofing.  This is mostly done by collection agencies.  They pretend to be someone else and getting enough info from you to create an account.  Next thing you will get is a paper threat to pay something in full or go to court.  Some of us have been dealing with these bottom feeders for months and years.  We have programs that track and trace these numbers and then match them to the time and dates with the phone company. None have matched the actual caller.  They also spoof themselves as your neighbors. Advice: take your bill or some proof to the phone provider and have them trace.  If you owe money or have ever in the past, you can bet places like these will be faking themselves as someone else to get the data they need. Make note that these collection agencies can get a lot of info on people by accessing credit reports. Type:"phone spoofing" in your browser or here's a site for a start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caller_ID_spoofing .  Everyone should be aware of these activities for their own protection. Also see: "predictive dialers" and "VOIP".
Note: Known collection agencies that were tracked: Law Offices of Joe Pezzuto - Collect America, Cavalry Portfolio, Southwest Credit, Lowery Law Group-CACV and  Portfolio Recovery Services.

This number continued to call my cell phone, it showed up as Unknown with no number.  I finally answered and he said he was with JCPenney in regard to my bill.  He had an Indian accent, so I assumed, like most companies, they had outsourced their Service Department. I reached out to the Customer Service on the JCPenney site and told them the story; they confirmed that the person at that number was legitimate and from the Collections Department with JCPenney.  I still told them that he was a little rude. I'm not usually late on my payments, but when I don't get my bills, there's no reason to be rude.

These asshats have called me 9 times today. I don't answer the phone when someone calls from a toll free number as I get at least 5 calls every day from toll free numbers. They aren't leaving messages, and I don't have an account with JC Penney so who knows who they really are.

Auto call from JC Penny.  Asks repeatedly for SSN and acct information -- even though I don't have it as I'm not the person!   Had to repeatedly hit 000 to get to operator.  Finally got operator in India.  They agreed to remove my cell pone number.  We'll see if it stops

    Sleepless
Ok, I work nights and sometimes multiple shifts.  After working round the clock to early morning Saturday, I'm dead tired and want to sleep.
Then these F_CKERS start calling.  Over and over again, every one or two hours.  Never a single person to talk to.  An automated message asks for a lady I've never heard of to call them back.
I'd turn the phone off if I didn't have a close relative in hospital.

Is there no way to get these "people" (and I use the term loosely) to stop calling, or let them know they have the wrong number?  If I don't get sleep soon, I'll go postal!
