My wife received a call from Microsoft Technical Support stating that we had a virus on our computer for several weeks. She said that they would have to talk to me and they gave her the number 1-800-543-8160. This is a scam. Microsoft would never waste the money to call you about a virus on your personal computer.

Yup, same east Indian, but called himself John Carter. No extension as he is the only one there he says. Played him along for a long time as I have done the same when they have called before...they are pretty stupid but persistent! Now says office is at 99 Young Street, Toronto.

I've had 2 calls from "Thomas" from "Microsoft Tech Support telling me that my computer has been hacked and is now being used for illegal activity. Since I'd heard of this scam, I told him I didn't need his help, he persisted, as did I and he swore at me before hanging up. He called again tonight to tell me that Microsoft was giving me a second chance and that I need to sort this out in the next few hours. I told him I'd call him back at a convenient time... not likely!!!

"Jack" just called and said my computer had been hacked and he needed to help me. Said he was from Microsoft at 99 Yonge St. He told me his name was Jack Wilson but he had a thick Indian accent.
When I asked for his phone number he gave 1800 543 8160.  I played along with him for a while and he told me to press the Microsoft button on my keyboard then the letter R. I told him I couldn't do that and when he asked why I said I'm not falling for his scam - he got really insistent that it wasn't a scam and I just hung up

Received a call from a Long Distance number.  The east indian male voice claimed to be from Microsoft and that my computer was being hacked.  When challenged a female voice came on the line and gave me the phone number 1-800-543-8160 for Microsoft address 99 York St, Toronto, Ontario Canada.  Step me through a command to obtain my so called Microsoft ID number which they called out.  By this time I had read the comments on this site.  Called BS on them based on the scam reiterated on this site.  They promptly hung up.

Said he was from Microsoft on Yonge st in Toronto. Said my computer was hacked. I was sure this was bogus so I played along. I asked which computer. he said the Microsoft one. I said they were all Microsoft. He provided a serial number. That meant nothing. He tried to get me to call up a Command window. At this point I asked for name, phone number and employee number and I would call back. I called back and when I asked for company name they hung up on me.
