She claims she is from Wells Fargo and she isn't. Very rude like the other
People - anonymous| 1 replyI'm currently disputing charges to my WF card, and have just gotten off of the phone with one of their reps, who I reached by calling 800-TO-WELLS, the number on the back of my card. I've been ignoring calls from an unrelated 800 number, and wished to verify it with WF. I was told that number was not legitimate, and I was was given the number which is the subject of this thread (800-548-9554) as the legitimate number that the claims department would use to call me if they needed to. So, it would seem this is in fact a WF number.
However...
If you are at all wary of a number, don't give them anything. Insist on calling them back at a number you can verify, either on the back of your card or from a legitimate website. Better yet, never give anything to anyone who calls you. Make it a policy to only give out that sort of information when -you call them- on a number you are absolutely sure of.- Caller: Wells Fargo
- anonymous replies to Susie| 2 repliesThis is incorrect. The number is legitimate. See my post below (also posted 2.4.2014 as "anonymous"). I received it directly from their customer service number listed on the card itself.
As for the rep being rude, that's underpaid phone reps for you. She was likely an actual WF rep, unless the phone number was spoofed, and just sucks at/hates her job. Or, perhaps, you were just being a particularly difficult customer, as you were wary of a possible scam, which is understandable.
All that being said, never give personal information to anyone who -calls you-, only when you -call them- on a verifiable number. - anonymousI assumed the previous message would nest under Susie's. As it did not, it should read "my post above" rather than "below."
This, and the two previous anonymous posts are all me. - Andrea replies to anonymousThis is a bogus number and more than likely a scam. I do have have a Well Fargo account of any type and I received a call on my mobile. Beware.
- Brendan Ian HerbertThis phone number is Wellsfargo Claims, they are so so rude it is incredible. I had my credit card stolen in Miami while visiting my beautiful son, Brendan Herbert who is an attorney for Akerman, LLC. Wells Fargo wont give me credit. I dont know what to do.....I will get a lawyer, but they are so expensive.

- JMStellerThis is a fraudulent number.
I received a voicemail from someone claiming to be with Wells Fargo debit card fraud. He asked me to call 1-800-548-9554 and reference a claim number.
When I called, the woman asked for my account number “to verify”, for my birthdatae, and for the name of who else was on my account. I said I wasn’t comfortable giving information over the phone. She tried to reason with me that I had directly called Wells Fargo (it sounded pretty official), but I declined to proceed.
I called debit card fraud at Wells Fargo from the real phone number off the official WellsFargo.com web site and the rep assured me that there was no fraudulent activity on my card. If WF had tried to get a hold of me, she said it would have been an automated message and that they would NEVER ask for that sensitive information over the phone.- Caller: Fake Claims Department for Wells Fargo
- LOLTHIS IS LEGIT phone number, it's not listed on the WellsFargo homepage (I have no idea), but I just confirmed this is legit by asking directly people from WellsFargo.
- sus[iciousI am suspicious about this number. Why? I got a suspicious looking letter supposedly from Wells Fargo . The writer indicated that he was a "Senior Vice President from the Claims Assistance Center. Contacted Wells ( from my card number) their department for credit card claims is Fraud Resolutions Unit. Why would a "Vice President? be writing me for a claim under 400.00? Any way, this letter ( looks like a photocopy of Wells ) letter head stated that if I had any questions to call 1-800-548-9554. No where is this number listed in Wells' 1-800 numbers. Turning this over for legal counsel.
- LeoI just got a call from 1800 548 9554 and they said it was from a fraud department. They also gave me a reference number, but they were asking too much information, they said "to verify my account". I didn't give anything. Then, I called the wf fraud department and the call was not from them, and everything was in order; so.. be aware!!
Wells Fargo also said not to give any information over the phone, because they will never ask for it. - MikeReceived a call & a subsequent voicemail from 1-800-548-9554. The lady said she was from Wells Fargo ATM/Debit Card Claims Department and gave me a claims number to reference. Funny thing is, I don't even have a Wells Fargo account or a Wells Fargo debit/credit card. In fact, I haven't been to a Wells Fargo in 5+ years. I didn't return the call because its highly suspicious.

- AnonFRAUD/SCAM: Call from 1-800-548-9554. Message left by "professional sounding" woman called Alex, claiming to be about a recent fraud on my Wells Fargo credit card. There was fraudulent activity on my Wells Fargo card a few months ago but I knew it was a scam call as she called me on a phone number Wells Fargo doesn't have. DO NOT CALL BACK. DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL OR FINANCIAL INFORMATION. I called Wells Fargo and they confirmed this is NOT one of their numbers. A list of Wells Fargo #s can be found here, if you need to verify this is an attempt at fraud: https://www.wellsfargo.com/privacy-security/fraud/report/
