- AngelaThis number is automated and they call my cell severe times a week it needs to stop..
- MoMoThis is a collection agency and they will call until your account is resolved. They are rude so beware and don't be afraid to stand up to them. They will ask you if you would like to resolve the balance right then, but so no so you can work it out another way.
- TDThis company is beyond belief. They call and call my cell, at all hours (before 6AM and after 9pm); don't leave a "real" message, just that recording. When I do answer, it's still the recording and no one comes on. I don't have collections and can't get them to stop!
- Caller: Harassers!!
- annoyedThis is the second call I've received from this company stating that I have a debt with a cell company that I've never worked with. They're randomly picking names and numbers of people with similar names. Any ideas on how to get them to stop calling me for someone elses debt?

- C.S.Collection agencies do not fall under the National Do Not Call Registry's restrictions. Collection Agencies are governed by the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practice Act); therefore, to cease calls, you will need to do the following:
(1) Send a letter to the agency via USPS Certified Mail with Return Receipt to cease calling you. NOTE: A Cease and Desist is different than this request and may bring on additional and immediate unwanted actions. Once the agency receives this, they are required by FDCPA to stop calling you, EXCEPT for the following:
§ 805. Communication in connection with debt collection
(c) CEASING COMMUNICATION. If a consumer notifies a debt collector in writing that the consumer refuses to pay a debt or that the consumer wishes the debt collector to cease further communication with the consumer, the debt collector shall not communicate further with the consumer with respect to such debt, except—
(1) to advise the consumer that the debt collector’s further efforts are being terminated;
(2) to notify the consumer that the debt collector or creditor may invoke specified remedies which are ordinarily invoked by such debt collector or creditor; or
(3) where applicable, to notify the consumer that the debt collector or creditor intends to invoke a specified remedy. If such notice from the consumer is made by mail, notification shall be complete upon receipt.

(7) File a complaint with Consumer Sentinel:
Consumer Sentinel

Washington, DC 20580
Website: http://www.consumer.gov/sentinel
Consumer Sentinel is a consumer complaint database maintained by the Federal Trade Commission. The database was created to allow law enforcement to track consumer complaints involving Internet cons, telemarketing scams and other consumer fraud-related complaints. Consumers can file complaints on-line on the website mentioned above.
(8) If you suspect fraud, file a complaint here, too: http://www.fraud.org/
(9) Post complaints in forums such as these used to identify the callers, especially those who are ignoring the FDCPA, to assist others in researching issues similar to yours!
By all means, please share this information! They (Collection Agencies) rely on consumers not being knowledgeable and enforcing their rights, so don't fall prey! And I highly recommend taking Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University (http://www.daveramsey.com/fpu/home/) if there is one near you; very educational and enlightening!
TIP: If you are receiving calls from telemarketers or other scams, you may use some of the above links for filing complaints as well!

Telephone sellers must register with the Attorney General at least 10 days prior to conducting business in the state of Colorado. See C.R.S. 6-1-303. A commercial telephone seller conducts business in the state if the telephone solicitations of prospective purchasers are made from locations in Colorado or solicitation is made of prospective purchasers located in this state. Telephone sellers should ask for the telemarketer registrar, who handles the registration.
Consumers who do not want to receive uninvited commercial telephone solicitations may register on the Colorado and/or the national no-call lists. See “No-Call Laws” in this Resource Guide.
General information about telemarketing fraud
It is estimated telemarketing fraud costs consumers in excess of forty billion dollars each year. It can take many forms: phony prize promotions, credit repair scams, business opportunity and get rich quick schemes, and investment fraud. Also watch out for “sound-alike” charitable solicitations. Older Coloradans are often the ones victimized by telemarketers trying to take advantage of failing health or desperate financial concerns. Also check out the FTC Telemarketing Sales Rule, which can be accessed on the FTC’s website at www.ftc.gov.
Protect yourself from telemarketing fraud
Consumers can protect themselves from telemarketing fraud by:
* Be suspicious of anyone calling your home or office promising prizes and awards if you agree to participate in their promotion. Most often, those prizes don’t exist.
* Never give your credit card or bank account number to a stranger calling you on the telephone.
* Never agree to purchase products sight unseen.
* Don’t be pressured into participating by claims that “today is the last day of promotion,” or “you must act now or you will lose out.” This is usually just a ploy to get you to buy.
Any commercial telephone seller must allow a purchaser to cancel within three days after the purchaser's receipt of the goods, services or property. You must deliver or send written notice and return any goods.

- nancy oakleyI have asked this company to relay all messages through the mail, and even tried to pay a debt that is being disputed to get them off my back, I dont get it. The web site to pay online is so generic, I got no confirmation number, I got no email as I asked. I am worried now of identity theft, AGAIN. The debt is from an insurance agent who ripped all the customers off and left the office. It amounts to 42.00. MY god, what is this world coming to. IT is riduculous. What can I do
