work with them, communicate and do your best to keep on top of your finances in an economically efficient manner. Close credit cards and consolidate to low interest loans etc. there are many avenues you can explore to ease your situation but people are simply too lazy. answer your calls, deal with your debts, move forward in life.

Ok. Ignore what honest just said. Don't answer the calls and if you do and they catch you just tell them that pursuant to the fair trading act you dispute the debt and if their client has further issue they should take it to court and not to contact you any further. 9/10 times it won't go to court as they just send it to a collection agency, and if they do worst thing that can happen is that you have to pay them. Under the fair trading act they are required to stop calling. I had perfect credit, never missed a payment, then all of a sudden a certain credit card company called and said 'we are calling your credit card and line of credit due, please pay within 5 days' I couldn't come up with $80,000 overnight and so I let it go, then since I had bad credit already I let everything else go DON'T FEEL AN OUNCE OF GUILT. These guys don't take it personally and you are just a number to them, so treat them the exact same way!!

John Doe, you're a loser and that's why your credit is bad, pay your bills and stop blaiming others, and about the phone calls stopping, you should stop the phone calls yourself by paying, and anyone suffering from this economic crisis and paying high interest rates is because of people like John Doe that dont respect creditors, society or the economy, remember for everything you take someone is paying for it, I'm sick of paying for people like you.

Got this voice mail on my home phone the other morning from someone looking for a Marvin Esler and it was very important that Marvin gets a hold of them regarding this very important matter or legal actions will have to be enforced.
    1-800-809-5850 ext. 3832
I just phoned this morning (Oct. 1 / 2009) just to let them know that Marvin Esler is not at the phone number that they were trying to contact. They asked me for my home phone number and I would not give it to them. I told them to look up their "file" associated with the name Marvin Esler and you tell me the number that shows up in your file. She could not tell me and was insistent the only way to check was by my phone number. At that point I started getting a little frustrated and she was like “I don’t know why you are getting upset with me……” your kidding right? Anyway, I said well if you are suppose to get in contact with this idiot he is not at the number you are trying to call and hung up on her.

I don’t believe the only way they can search there “hundreds” of files is by a phone number????

I love the Internet and people posting their same experiences.

I too keep on getting messages for a person Called Armitget Gill. I did talk to the receptionist when they did call. I told the person that I don't this person and could they remove my number off there list. They said that they will. But two days later I get another phone call from Armitget Gill. I told the person again that I don't know this person and could I speak to their superior so I could resolve this problem. He said that he would remove my number and I shouldnt here from them again. Well that was Bull [***] because I got another phone call from them. Thats when I had enough I started scream and getting really tell them I don't know this person and stop calling me or I will take this to police. After that they I havent heard from a while but I just recieved another message from Armitget Gill.

    The Facts!
Totally ignore what "honest" and some others have said above. Unless you have near perfect credit, the damage to your credit rating has already been done. Your best course of action now is to either block if you can, or simply ignore the calls. Do that, and they will stop. And don't worry about collection agencies suing you. They most likely will not unless it is for a huge amount, and you have lots of visible assets. For the most part, collection agencies will no longer do anything to collect a debt other than threaten the debtor. The costs associated with going to Court to sue you are just too great, and they will not risk that money unless they are reasonably certain there is money to be gained. Some of course will argue against this, but most if not all of such arguments come from debt counseling/consolidation agencies, who want to get a huge commission from every nickle you pay to your creditors after a deal is made, and who of course would be completely out of business if all consumers followed what I have have suggested.

You are the STUPIDEST woman ever born. I bet you you have rocks for brains. Do you think these collectors care whether they are calling the right person or right number. Have thought that they may be acting on wrong info and thus harassing the wrong people.
You cant be blamed bird brains, its a scientific fact 'women have smaller brains than men'. so go get stuffed..

This is odd, reading other comments I gather this number is a collection agency.
I was curious because this person just called me and asked for a name of an estranged family member whom I haven't seen or spoken to in 7+ years.  I say it is "strange" because just last week, I also got a call at my workplace from a very friendly fellow pretending that he knew me and asking me how he could get in touch with the same guy.  If he did know me, he'd know that I severed ties with that jerk!!
Clearly these people/companies will scour the internet and telephone books looking for anyone with a surname similar to that of the person they are searching for.

this number belong to a collections agency, to all you people out there that think that ignoring the calls or screening them will make them stop.........IT WONT! DONT BE AN IDIOT! ive worked at agencies before, all ur doing is making ur life worse and keep getting calls! if u finally do answer and scream at them for calling so much...its ur own fault for either A)not paying your bills OR B)not telling them they have the wrong number! if its the wrong number simply answer or return their call and tell them, by law they HAVE to remove it. dont being a d-bag and sort ur [***] out!

Until they leave a message they can F off. Next to nobody has my mobile and I've never used my mobile for anything other than family. It's soliciting and it's an automated machine calling. Like I said, if it doesn't leave a message they can F off.

Just add their number to call reject on your cellphone and that's the end of them. Collection Agencies have absolutely no power. Its illegal for them to call you on a cellphone.
